@ezboy777 "Nüshen Kaka" in Mandarin translates to "Goddess of Cards," so it has more meaning to its audience and it makes more sense, because of her song Pokerface, making her name more marketable to her Mandarin-speaking audience. (This is just an educated guess).

@teejay1618 Actually "nushen" means lady and I think "kaka" is the closest sound to gaga. As a Mandarin speaker, I know that there is no such sound as the "g" in the language and so they go for the next closest sound. They are NOT trying to be derogatory, as the sound "caca" doesn't have any meaning in Mandarin or at least not the same meaning in English.

Please check the dictionary before giving out inaccurate info:

1. Mandarin Chinese DOES have a "g" sound, and has at least one corresponding character for the sound "ga" in all four tones.

gā (嘎嘎 is used to imitate the 'quack quack' sound that ducks make)

gá (钆 is the chemical element Gadolinium [Gd])

gǎ (玍 means bad temper)

gà (尬 means 'in an embarrassing situation')

2. According to the Oxford Chinese Dictionary, 3rd Edition. 女神 (nü shén), means "goddess," not "lady."

@ezboy777 They convert it to a hard K sound to make it easier to hear. Mandarin Chinese does not have a "g" sound and so even though it may seem weird to you and me, the g sound is pretty hard to digest if it's not part of your normal repetoire of sounds. It's sort of like how Spanish has certain sounds that you would miss unless you are trained to listen for them.
