I don't like that solder connection.. Cold wire going into molten solder and then you toss it under cold water... You basically did everything wrong.. You should really be crimping with the proper tool and then soldering it..
With a Grain of salt is from an old Italian/Latin saying that basically means "A little bit of common sense". It just means don't take what you're told for granted without thinking it through first.
ill start out by saying that i love your show but you guys said to call out bad info. well i have to call you out on this one. first when soldering electrical connections always use rosin core. soldering is a very good connection but crimping copper terminals to copper wire is the best connection possible. solder is mostly tin which is not as conductive as copper . when using the proper crimp tool the wire and terminal become one solid piece.
@First2ner I would do it that way well before smashing the crimp with a hammer... but how would you solder those type of connections... I am always looking to learn something new
@mcf3778 I didn't say this isn't the best way, coz for me it is... the part I didn't like too much is when the wire was put in... then you should re-heat, to flow whole solder again (wire is cold)... and I would always use solder with flux, since it helps to make good solder joint and after you are done, you can clean it off
Lol, thanks for the advice guys! Sorry that i didnt post pics of the dash but those were the only pictures i had of my truck and i thought it would be funny :D i think im gonna try and make the panel out of fiberglass.
You mentioned that you guys have friends not fans, thats the only thing about getting picked up by a network and getting big, youl loose that personal connection with the people that watch...friends would turn into ratings numbers
@lowrthnu92 on top of that reality shows are all highly scripted. they do a good job of making stuff not look scripted but theres writers in the credits for a reason. even if you dont believe the writers are literally writing some script that guides the entire episode and creates characters, check out "charlie brookers screenwipe reality TV" ?v=BBwepkVurCI to see how editing can convey any message you like
@lowrthnu92 they can still have Q&A online and have discussions with fans/friends. It can still be personal, just on a bigger level.... a much bigger level lol. I think a show would be great.
last Q&A why did you recommend 63 or 80hz for sub crossover? subs cant be localized under 100hz, youre looking at an f3 at 80hz for most car door speakers. id say cross at 100hz.
iv been watching the sound man car audio vids since i found a bypass mod for the 4200, the amplified and q&a episodes are brilliant and its great news that your doing great work wise and online. looking forward to seeing the new shop and season 2. if you do manage to get a tv show out of this will you still do the web versions? its doubtful i will get to see it if you dont. tv in the uk is shit!
they need to show people how to make there own copper ring terminals out of copper pipe, u take some copper pipe thats the size of ur wire, cut it to length, u can either put it in a vise or flatten it with a hammer, and then take a grinding wheel and round it over, bore a hole in it, and ur good to go, i myself use a acetylene brazing torch to do this with, ive got a propane torch also but the other works best, keep the cool and helpfull videos comeing, ive learned a whole lot from this =)
I'm having a hard time painting my dash bezel after a double din conversion. Every spray paint I buy is either not glossy enough or to light in color. Any suggestions???

a $50 aoyue soldering iron from amazon could melt that same amount of solder in the same amount of time and is way less hassle.
