  • Doris gives me chills here

the part "..And Windy Sea.." especially

  • I think Tony left his brain in San Francisco.

  • beautiful!

  • Do you all know that Doris Day was the female vocalist for the Dorsey Band back in the day? She became a crossover act into movies, and TV, and could handle singing, acting, and comedy with equal ease.

And now her charity work, especially with pets ... that too is unequalled.

  • @str8ngrrr nope. not Dorsey. Bob Crosby and then Les Brown, but never Dorsey as she corrected someone who mistakenly thought she was with Dorsey.

  • @ra86226 thanks for correcting me !! It's good that SOMEONE remembers !!

  • @ra86226 And ... in checking out your accuracy -- again, you were spot on -- I found my collection of Sauter-Finnegan charts. THANKS, again.

  • @str8ngrrr Finegan, sorry.

  • I read the Doris thinks the climate of her era has gone and that as she got older her voice wasn't as good as it used to be and wants to be remembered for her at the top of her game. I bet she still has that golden voice!

  • que de nostalgie j'aime beaucoup ça me rappelle mon enfance merci

  • Tony didn´t get worse during the last 50 years! :-).

But it´s poor Doris don´t wanna go on TV anymore...

  • Go Giants!!!!!!

  • Tony Bennett's career spans for nearly 60 years now that he was featured on American Idol performing with Christina Aguilera and just recently featured with a group of young singers performing the song, "We Are the World." in dedication to the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

  • wow these people had magic imagin them at your house party just singinging and playing.......

  • This is one of those things, when they say it is PRICELESS. Thanks!

  • As of June 2010 they are all still alive! I wonder what a reunion would be like?

  • Thanks.

  • aww gorgeous... :)

  • Segue o vídeo

  • Thanks for having this wonderful video shared.

  • He's singing it in her key...low for him.

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever written and performed .. long live Tony

  • long them thme both!

  • Oh My God....... Im Doris's No one fan

  • tony and doris both have very distinct voices. are there still others that will be coming that have such a talent? i really hope so. i know it is not going to be in my lifetime, but someone will come.

  • Doris Day always reminds me of Karen Carpenter. Or the other way around.

Both; so pure, so real, so great.

And Tony Bennett. What can you say?

    Just your average living legend.

  • You go Doris...

  • It`s probably Ralph Sharons fingers on the piano that we hear

  • Kaye Ballard now has a theatre named after her in Joshua Tree, CA!

  • I absolutely love this!! By the way, it wasn't SUPPOSED to sound rehearsed!! This was a scene from Doris' TV show, sung while she and Tony were still in character

--like a sing-along around the piano after dinner :)

It sounds fabulous to me; and Doris, as always, was in perfect voice (Tony Bennett wasn't so bad either....LOL)!!!

  • Two of the all-time great singers...

  • fabulous clip, thanks

  • Kaye is a neighbor of a friend of mine in Rancho Mirage (on Kaye Ballard Lane!) and she still keeps in regular contact w/Doris. Kaye and her partner Van are a great couple.

  • A very nice video of Doris Day & Tony Bennett singing one my favourite songs.5 *****..Marc Jones-Pop/Jazz Vocalist..Los Angeles,U.S.A.

  • i wish tony had really played the piano here

  • I was surprised to learn Doris can't play the piano either, she fakes good.

  • Great video! But I think Doris was well-known enough that she should've stepped out of her "Doris Martin" character to sing with Tony Bennett. And you can tell they hadn't sung much together before because the communication between them isn't good. But I'm a fan of both. :)

  • Yeah its a bit awkward isn't it. As great as they both are individually, together not so much.

  • I think it worked well here even if she stayed in character. I love the end when Kaye says, "You know your not bad either Doris."

  • Kaye's comment is great. As awkward as Tony and Doris are together, its still a great moment.

  • No, they had not sung together before. I have always wondered why Mitch Miller never teamed them when they were both under contract to Columbia. Still, it seems to me that the communication problem is all TB's; he doesn't seem at home sinmging his own best known song, whereas Doris' contribution is on the money at every note. Notice the clear admiration on her face while they are singing; her spontaneous "WE don't care" is more proof of their being "in tune" with each other. THANKS for this!

  • Thank you.

  • rehearsal would have helped, but she has such perfect pitch, amazing.

  • @ciroalb3 and classicfan.. I think the feeling was superb. The unrehearsed-ness of it kept it fun and interactive (like instrumental jazz, which is far more so than vocal). Not sure if that's what they were going for, but if this show was filmed live, I think it fits great.

  • @classicfan1 But thereins lies the absolutely ETERNAL beautiful wealth of Kaye Ballard's final line.It is meant to be a quip from Angie. But in lavishing her praise on Tony she says it all with her final lob to Doris "You're not bad too,Doris". Let us never forget, that if Doris hadn't excelled at movies - preventing her from EVER touring to promote her albums - her greatness as a singer would have made Tony Bennett look like a back-alley busker
