It's a shame I wasn't ten years old when this game came out. I probably would have loved it to death. I really liked the first Sega Rally as a kid.

But since then my tastes shifted to more realistic racers, and this very arcade-style game just doesn't have enough depth and complexity. That's the Sega Rally way, of course, but it just doesn't appeal to me any more.

really the worsed game i ever played. bought it for 20 euro;s played it once and the handling is just so f@$Ucking unrealistic. and you are also not enabled to leave the track because there is an invinsible wall besides the intire track.. luckely i sold it voor 17 euro;s again. but i am sure that dude has regret already and is selling it 2

The constant boasting about it being the in-game graphics is annoying. All racing games look good when they come out. It's rediculous to make such a big deal about it rather than focus on the game itself which lacks a lot compared to other big titles.

Sure it's good arcadey fun but so was the first Sega Rally. Times have changed and this has become a pick up and play, until the graphics obviusly become too crap to understand which won't take long. Dirt 2 owns this game and GT5 will kill it.

Sega Rally is a brilliant game. It's better than 95% of racing games out there. I haven't played the full game of Dirt 2, but I've played a demo, and I have to say, that I prefer Sega Rally, at a nudge. The environments just look so detailed and eye-catching and the cars in Sega just feel more responsive and heavy. In Dirt 2 you feel like you're controlling lightweight plastic cars. Dirt 2 tries too hard to fit in with the yoof.

The old Sega Rally-games were much better - they had a better "arcade-feeling" to them and better handling.

Nowadays rally-games seem to focus on just cramming as many circuits as possible into the game (quantity over quality) but the prize is, that they all have a "contruction-kit" feel to them - no special landmarks or anything, as opposed to the old games were every stretch was easy-recognizeable - with the new games its just easy-left-easy right and the same boring scenery! Paaah!!!!

The game is outstanding. Shame it's so underrated, people don't like it for not being 'realistic' enough.

I hate what happened to gaming, it used to be fun that mattered, not realism. All there is now are those short next-gen games with zero replay value (with small exceptions, of course).

Yea... just recently discovered that it does improve the grip. I thought that was a major disappointment because it does not set a challenge for the player. Unless you're driving a Manual Transmission, then it's a Challenge to shift gears while making a turn

jimmac i got both of the games for PC they both have great graphics but the Colin Mcrae dirt has better gameplay and graphics more angles two drive in 2.

DIRT- It has better graphics, a damage engine, and much more realistic physics as well as more vehicles

Sega- SPLITSCREEN, a very rare feature on ps3/360 racers, old school fun style physics that are forgiving to non-gamers

Only really need the brakes on fast pavement courses. Not really bummed about no wrecking - if you're any kind of driver you'll drift around and not hit the sides! Doing that obviously drops you gears and knocks off your lap times.

The crowning moment for me is running a good bunch of laps and then watching the replay. Highlight for me so far was splitting 2 cars down a straight and then drifting the car 45 deg thru a long hairpin in 6th.

No. You can get them muddy, dusty, etc, but you cannot dent them, or show any form of destruction. you must understand this is an arcade racer.

This is a great arcade game! DiRT is a more realistic game really because if you go too fast into a corner then your gonna spin off an fuck the car up...i've played both Sega and DiRT and i think the Sega game is better because in my opinion it has better playability.
