Also there was a single episode that delved into Hero's past that involved him blowing up a building while on a mission, in the process he accidentally killed a little girl he'd met earlier in the day. All he was able to find while trying to find her was the girl's teddy bear.

In this case, it's rebel colonies who use 5 gundams to gain the advantage over the feddies, only for the gundam pilots to be set up to overthrow the federation in order for a shady militant group to takeover the world and the gundam pilots to fight on their own.
