They missed that income of the bottom 50% of American households has grown by 6% in the last 30 years. In contrast, the top 1% of earners have seen their incomes rise by 229%. In this Bush admin, the average income has fallen except for the top 5%, which hasn't happened since 1928. So maybe "working class" and "lower class" are closer than we think.

Wait a second, QES. Ok, you don't like Fox (and thanks for calling it by the correct name); I get it. But, as with most videos, many people (not necessarily you) are making snap judgements about this panel. First, it's played out of sequence. Second, i don't particularly agree with Barnes' definition but he correctly points out that its an amibiguous term politicians and pollsters use. Third, a fact lost on some people on here is that the others were giving him a hard time over his definition.

You're right, and my qualification requires that they fit the definition that I presented to be considered criminally negligent (a mild exaggeration on my part). If they dont qualify, they dont qualify.
However, if, as I suspect, part of their mockery is not merely of Barnes word choice, and is systemic and indicative of their over all attitudes towards socio-economic class divisions, then they ARE quite guilty.
So, it comes down to gut reaction. I suspect they're elitist.

When I worked for the New Republic for a summer in the 90's, Fred Barnes was the nicest, least elitist person there. But he is just plain wrong that working class is necessarily equated with little education. That's just not true. Ironically, lower class sounds like the words of an uneducated person.

Before they went national it was a chain of stations in Florida. The owner went to court to try to get a judge to rule that the first amendment gave him the right to force his employees to distort and falsify news. At the second circuit court of appeals the judge ruled it was not against the law to force your employees to lie. Fox vs Akre.
