How come the propeller train idea wasn't commercially successful? They would have been the fastest trains for the time period.

@badreality2 , because it can't take carriages with it, also it damages train tracks.

@kostyaz Couldn't they add train cars ("carriages") to the front of the engine? Also, how did the propeller train damage the train tracks?
@badreality2 winds from this propeller damages tracks, i.e. stones flying away from the track.
@badreality2 And there is also the problem, that you can only move in one direction. You can't move backwards. So you have to turn the train by a rotating platform or drive a big loop. That costs a lot of time and is complicated.
