The current administration policies allow you to be arrested, declared an enemy combatant, and shipped to Guantanamo. The Supreme Court made sure that you won't stay there forever by giving the right of Habeas Corpus to the detainees there. Habeas Corpus is not a luxury, it is a necessity; without it there is only imprisonment of the innocent and the guilty, with no recourse for either.
It is better to let both the innocent and the guilty to go free then to imprison both, but where proof can be offered, it is the intent of the process of trial that the guilty shall not go free.
If you take into custody a person, no matter what nationality, you are intitled to ensure his civil rights according to your own constitution and international agreements.

Seemingly the writ of habeus corpus is a pre-existing right, and is protected under it. Does this apply to foreign citizens? Seeing that various other constitutional rights do (for example, the reading of rights on arrest), and that the text does not specify that it applies purely to citizens, it seems that it does.

The current administration policies allow you to be arrested, declared an enemy combatant, and shipped to Guantanamo. The Supreme Court made sure that you won't stay there forever by giving the right of Habeas Corpus to the detainees there. Habeas Corpus is not a luxury, it is a necessity; without it there is only imprisonment of the innocent and the guilty, with no recourse for either.

Just as the Constitution does not bestow a religion on the individual, it does prohibit the government from removing your religion. I am Hispanic. Alberto Gonzalez has embarrased the whole Mexican American community. They are not after him becasue of his ethnic background but because ha has neutralized the Constitution and some people do ot seem to understand the magnitude of the damage that it does to the whole judicial system. That's why Bush chose him as AG because he is as brute as him.

Clinton, and perhaps all other previous presidents, fired all US attorneys because it's a changing of the guard. It's like the presidential cabinet.
Bush had Gonzales fire these eight attorneys on grounds that they weren't loyal enough to his policies. Let me remind you, it was under the Bush administration that these attorneys were appointed, not under Clinton's.
Still, you're a Republican, I don't think you're bright enough to spot the difference between the two scenarios.

Those attorneys were fired right when Clinton took office, like how it's supposed to be done, not mid term, for no apparent reason. It wasn't preformance, because their evaluations a month prior were all excellent. Also one of those fired attorneys, Iglesias, was Hispanic numbnuts. In fact, it was a Republican strategist who called Gonzales himself an affirmative action hire, yesterday on Carlson's show!
