This really is one of the best ballads of the '80s. Not that it ever gets recognised that way, of course. Say the radio stations, music channels and record company execs: "Marillion, you say? Sorry, but unless it's 'Kayleigh', we don't want to know."
A classic tune this was, reminds me of when i was younger.I used to love the album covers, they where outstanding. The front cover of misplaced childhood album was a classic.
a truly beautiful song. well written, well produced and perforemed by a band that never gave anything less than a hundred per cent , what more could any music lover ask for.
I was thinking of this song today, and I have never been so desperate to listen to a song. I don't think I can describe it, just say that Marillion are the most amazing, most beautiful band in the world.
Clutching at straws was their last album, and many people will pick one of the previous three as their favourite... but this grew on me, and it was this song that made it for me with the melancholy. Just putting life off, and carrying on putting life off with more excuses... each day another raincheck so not to face up to life's reality... so sad...
