would you get the M50 over a Fender Squier crappy beginner guitar ? im thinking about getting a M50 ? but theres also the MH50 for a little more money ?
@rrgert4 Depends coz ul have to learn how to restring a floyd rose double locking tremelo system for an MH50, ive got the same dilemma as you. If you want a bit better than this get an ESP MH50 NT coz theres no whammy bar. The M50 whammy is pretty bad so i hear, using it makes the guitar go out of tune too easily. Hope this helped mate :)
@rrgert4 Have u used the whammy at all because ive been wondering if it really is that bad, as its the same one featured on most strats, and they cant all be bad tbh as theyre such amazing guitars. Does it really go out of tune that much?? If so ive also been lookin at a schecter that may be worth getting as it has no trem... :D
@Sakaluku heh good to hear that because ive got the same guitar and im thinking if to get your set or replace the emg 60 with an 85 emg? what is your opinion? thanks...
You basically can't really do that. A pickup uses a coil with a magnet core. The passive pickup's core is a magnet. The 'active' pickup means that this Magnet core is provided by another coil power with a battery.
Sure you can, just take it to a local guitar tech, they may have to do some routering for the battery compartment, but shouldn't be a problem. But be warned, active pickups are not that great, tend to over-compress sound and winds up sounding unnatural. Better to look at high quality passive.
if anyone could reply to this comment i am wanting to install emg pickups on my PRS se guitar and was curious to which ones mix and sound great together...ive read that emg 60 & 81 go great together but would like other peoples opinions Thanks!!!
oh I'm sorry he is recently using the 81/60 pair. But he used a combination of 2 EMG S and an EMG 81. Then he switched to EMG 81/81 pair which is stil sold as EMG-KH21 by EMG. So, yeah almost all the good stuff came from 81/81
He started with emg 81-S-S. then it was EMG 81/81 for ages...till a year or more ago the esp website had 81/60 on all the KH models except for the kh-202.
dude, i have the same problem as you. my amp is crap. for people who want to know. never ever buy a amp with overdrive in it. its teh worst. i always record myself playing and stuff, there is always fuzz in the back ground. that is why you people should get everything seperate. there might be fuzz on geear like pedals. but you also have drivers and filters. i need one of those
Unlike you, everyone doesn't spend all his money on guitar, just to drop it after a few years, sell his ESP Hammet signature guitar + awesome marshall amp and start playing with RC helicopters. You're pathetic.
to answer your question generally an EMG upgrate will cost say £120 ish for the actual pickups and if you change them yourself no more of course, just need to buy a battery.
hey i have the same guitar and i have this annoying fret buzz on my low E string, do you have the same problem? im new to guitars and dont know how to fix it. can you help me?
im playing around a year and i have a vox and i hate it. too complicated and the gain is flowing with feedback sucks. i was wondering is this amp got a good gain crunchy tight sound. it seems so from video, but do ya recommend this amp for metal and pantera sounds!!
Uhh.. How long have you been playing? Probably not to long. I'd recommend that you turn down the gain. It sounds a bit muddy, and makes a lot of noise.
Remember, i'm not saying this to offend you, just to help you.
The muddyness is just from the camera :P And the noise is so loud because im standing right in front of the amp and so is the camera in front of the amp.
(It's a bit of an old video aswell, haven't had a reach to a camera to record something new lately xD)
hey man could you make a video for all of us thinking of getting emg 81/85s. i have the same guitar and i want to no how much differnce these pickups made. cheers
The 81 is gonna give you a tight, crunchy rhythm tone, a clean creamy lead tone.. and the 60 will give you some amazing cleans, great for some lead work too.
