That is real LOVE! Just imagine how many marriages end in divorce. They said to Him, “Why then did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?” He said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. Well the movie carries the message successfully, of course the acting is not impeccable except for Kirk Cameron Because he is the only trained actor, most of the people in the film are people from the Director's own church who did not study acting. but I love this movie! I am single but It taught me so much!

One thing for sure, the story speaks to our hearts and souls. Christ said my sheep hear my voice, so I never worry about those who don't hear or see. This movie is for those who will.
One of the most powerful moments in this movie. 2nd only to the scene of Caleb and his father at the cross when Caleb explains his reasons for it not working and states that she's spat in his face. Only to have is father make him realize that he has done the same thing to Jesus. These two points in this movie broke me and are helping me get past my issues in my own marriage. We serve a mighty, powerful God who loves us unconditionally. No matter how badly we've wronged Him, He is there waiting.
Caleb Holts is a good man, but Kirk Cameron is even better. Do you know that Chelsea Noble (Kirk's wife) played as Catherine Holt double who appeared in the scene where Caleb and Catherine reconcile, as Cameron would not kiss any woman but his wife.
Just because acting is pretend, doesn't mean that one should compromise their morals for it. Kirk Cameron made the right decision to have his wife stand in for the kiss in end of the movie. He doesn't want to commit adultery, even if it's for the sake of acting.

Because people PUT THEMSELVES in situations where temptations can cause relationships to develop. STAY AWAY from situations that can cause you to stray. Catherine didn't heed this advice & almost ended up a notch on Gavin's bedpost, for he wasn't going leave his wife for her.
this is one of my favorite movies and kirk cameron's best work ever. i loved every minute of it. even though ive loved most everything hes been in i had no idea he could act this good.
one thing i dislike from the movie is that the Catherine's character seems so innocent here. If a marriage doesnt work, it should be from both side. I almost cried for all the things Caleb did. But the wife? she wasnt giving attention to him as well at the beginning of the movie. Disrespectful. And (almost) cheated in the end. And then? Still Caleb is the one who begged? And she accepted him back only after knowing he paid? Doesnt make sense.
@geraldsitorus Its hard to understand, as you say it makes no sense, no logic, but if you see through the eyes of love, the true love of God and the lessons he teached us, forgiveness, no pride, respect for the other, patience, you can understand the "personal battle" that Caleb fought in the movie. I'm right now fighting that battle, believe me, its tough, its hard, worst than everything, but I have faith in Jesus that its worth the pain..

Among Christian-tailored films, this kicked the crap out of "Facing the Giants"...Fell far short of "The Passion of the Christ", "The Prince of Egypt", and "To Save a Life" though.
It's my dream to one day make mainstream films that have very well-disguised religious messages in order to reduce consumer bias. My favorite band Needtobreathe does the exact same thing with their song-writing and by selling on both the Christian and secular music markets. They're fantastic.

Even the best people endure hurts and heartaches in marriage. This humility and apology is amazing. This movie is amazing... every single married couple should watch it, especially if they are going through a rough patch, and especially if they are considering separation.
Even if your NOT CHRISTIAN don't let that stop you! This is a really spiritually awakening story, it speaks volumes to the truth beyond knowledge.(WARNING: contains a little provincial dogma.. )
Probably the only thing it didn't address was that a couples love(spiritual bond) needs to grow beyond themselves, immediate family, friends & to include a growing love & compassion for animals & nature, however, for that I recommend watching PEACEABLE KINGDOM

Watched this movie about a month and half ago and cried my eyes out. I knew our marriage was on the rocks, but two weeks ago, after being together 23 years, he told me time I woke up on a Sunday morning, that he had already found someone else and it was over. I've been with him since I was 15 years old and I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm destroyed.

This part of the movie puts tears in my eyes. Cus wE all do take our significant other for granted an not many of us have 2nd chances to make things right. This part makes my heart bleed because these are the hardest of times an its just good to know that no matter how dark things seem at the moment, that there is a bright side.

@30nomad Yes it does exist, it's called the Love Dare. It wasn't "complete" from the beginning but was finished after people asked for the book after seeing the movie.
i recently broke up with GF. we were together for 4 years. and this apology says it all. it is almost to the letter of what i have done to her. I watched this movie 3 times now in the past 2 weeks. I have the book. and now i am going to be on day 3. i dont know how i will complete this journey, as our living situations will be changing soon. but i believe that GOD is taking control of my life now and i cant give up.

I just bought the book... the one he uses in the film... its amazing.. Looks identical to it too with the leather finish.. I bought it at borders for about $20.... I'm only on day 2 but its brings forth a rare but nice challenge... try it... it has valuable quotes from the bible.. that are just truely amazing....

A female freind of mine divorced her husband because he was molesting their daughter. A lady at work divorced her husband because several shrinks told her he wasn't going to stop beating her until she was dead. My best friend divorced his wife because she wouldn't stop sleeping with her best friends husband. Trust me people there are many marriages out there that aren't "Fireproof". Most people that I have known have tried to work it out with faith, and eventually got divorced for good reasons.

The lady at work who divorced her abusive husband is an evangelical. The lady who divorced he husband who was raping their daughter is also a christian. The entire church of my friend with the cheating wife took his side on the divorce (including his in-laws). The makers of this film literally think that the majority of divorces are for cornball reasons like the couple in this movie. Some churches do tell people to go back to their cheating or abusive spouces and work it out.

Thats why Jesus is needed. In the abusive marriage the guy was an evangelical but obviously didn't have a clear picture of Jesus and how God loves and honors women. The marriage with molestation, the wife was a Christian but what about the father?

I left my husband back in Feb because he ignored me, was hateful to me when he wasnt ignoring me, said hateful, harsh words to me...when I left, I filed for divorce, our divorce was finalized the end of april. the end of may, we got back together....although divorced, our hearts still belonged together, dont give up hope...I was gone for 4 months and now here we are together, a new beginning for us....we will remarry when its right timing, so DONT GIVE UP
Everyone shold understand who needs to participate in the Love Dare. It's not the person or person doomed in the relationship. It's the person that realizes the relationship is doomed. Trust God that upon your conviction, the other person will follow.

This character really knows how to apologize to a woman. He knew exactly what he'd done wrong and he didn't blame her for his actions. He took responsibility for his own actions and decisions. We should all ask forgiveness of others...with the same heart. "God forgive us of our trespasses as we forgive others who trespass against us."
Yes, Catherine was wrong too but remember she is not a Christian at this point in the movie. You can't expect a non-Christian to live like a Christian. Later she does give her heart to Christ, We don't know what was said between them then but Im sure there were many restorations made then as well. This movie is about men and women honor and loving their spouse!
This is the greatest movie ever made!Even though the Love Dare didn't work in my situation. It still changed my life. I will always live and love more effectively because of this movie and the book.

My wife left me over a year ago and just filed for divorce because i was a terrible husband for over 11 years, then i saw this movie and the movie along with God has changed my life, i have bought the love dare book and i am doing it hoping that my wonderful wife will see the change God has made in me.....anyone that will, please pray for our family,,,, we have an 11 year old son that is taking it harder than me....

Watched this movie about a month and half ago and cried my eyes out. I knew our marriage was on the rocks, but two weeks ago, after being together 23 years, he told me time I woke up on a Sunday morning, that he had already found someone else and it was over. I've been with him since I was 15 years old and I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm destroyed.

This part of the movie puts tears in my eyes. Cus wE all do take our significant other for granted an not many of us have 2nd chances to make things right. This part makes my heart bleed because these are the hardest of times an its just good to know that no matter how dark things seem at the moment, that there is a bright side.

@30nomad Yes it does exist, it's called the Love Dare. It wasn't "complete" from the beginning but was finished after people asked for the book after seeing the movie.

i need prayer for my situation. it is one that is not based on marriage like everyone elses. we were together 4 years. and now that all is said and done and she wants to move on. i am faced with giving up myself or doing this 40 day dare on her. I dont want to give up. i feel like GOD is leading me in this direction. i am on day 3. while it will be difficult because of living arrangements soon i am commited to doing this thing all the way through.

i remember i was 14 when i was dying to see this movie. for my birthday all i wasnted was this dvd to watch it over and over again.. and i did. i even got the love dare book too. this part in the movie is where i cry every single time, forgivness. maybe one day when im married i wont have to do this, or have my husband to do this either. this movie was amazing, thank you !

This makes me cry. My fiancee and I watched this movie and it's helped our relationship.We could've split a few times, but we made a promise to never leave our partner behind, especially in a fire. I am thankful this movie was made. It touches the deepest part of the heart.

I just bought the book... the one he uses in the film... its amazing.. Looks identical to it too with the leather finish.. I bought it at borders for about $20.... I'm only on day 2 but its brings forth a rare but nice challenge... try it... it has valuable quotes from the bible.. that are just truely amazing....

A female freind of mine divorced her husband because he was molesting their daughter. A lady at work divorced her husband because several shrinks told her he wasn't going to stop beating her until she was dead. My best friend divorced his wife because she wouldn't stop sleeping with her best friends husband. Trust me people there are many marriages out there that aren't "Fireproof". Most people that I have known have tried to work it out with faith, and eventually got divorced for good reasons.

The lady at work who divorced her abusive husband is an evangelical. The lady who divorced he husband who was raping their daughter is also a christian. The entire church of my friend with the cheating wife took his side on the divorce (including his in-laws). The makers of this film literally think that the majority of divorces are for cornball reasons like the couple in this movie. Some churches do tell people to go back to their cheating or abusive spouces and work it out.

Thats why Jesus is needed. In the abusive marriage the guy was an evangelical but obviously didn't have a clear picture of Jesus and how God loves and honors women. The marriage with molestation, the wife was a Christian but what about the father?
It is because people don't have a clear image of Jesus Christ that they do what they do. If people really knew God and who he is the love for his creation a lot of those situations wouldn't happen.

Hey flyingbracho....DONT give up. I left my husband back in Feb because he ignored me, was hateful to me when he wasnt ignoring me, said hateful, harsh words to me...when I left, I filed for divorce, our divorce was finalized the end of april. the end of may, we got back together....although divorced, our hearts still belonged together, dont give up hope...I was gone for 4 months and now here we are together, a new beginning for us....we will remarry when its right timing, so DONT GIVE UP

This character really knows how to apologize to a woman. He knew exactly what he'd done wrong and he didn't blame her for his actions. He took responsibility for his own actions and decisions. We should all ask forgiveness of others...with the same heart. "God forgive us of our trespasses as we forgive others who trespass against us."

Yes, Catherine was wrong too but remember she is not a Christian at this point in the movie. You can't expect a non-Christian to live like a Christian. Later she does give her heart to Christ, We don't know what was said between them then but Im sure there were many restorations made then as well. This movie is about men and women honor and loving their spouse!
