There is so much propoganda out there, so much mud, so much filth that it is sad we need to explain the most basic principles of our beliefs to those who are honest in heart, sincerely searching for the truth and actual truth seekers. Many draw near unto me with their lips but their hearts are far from me.
Just to let everyone know here... I quit going to church because of the gossip that went around about me... something I did wrong outside of the church that was embarrassing and it flew around the ward like hotcakes... (someone confessed to me after I weedled it out of him)... that's why I received the dirty looks from certain mormons.. they hat the hot tar on their hands. anyway I didn't appriciate it and it seems like every time I try to be active I wind up getting screwed... so that's it.
I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience like that at church. I always try to remember that the people are (of course) not perfect, but, the gospel and the Church of Jesus Christ is.

The church is true and i hope you can become active again because we are all important no matter what we've done and should be treated with respect so our testimonies can grow!!
Don't stop going to church because of the gossip of others. D&C 64:9. The greater sin remains in those who judge you. Unrighteous judgment is simply treating another as if there is no hope for them. There is no wrong is saying what one does is wrong, but in saying that one is so wrong that they are unsaveable. Forgive those who seem unwilling to forgive you, lift up your chin, and go to church. D&C 64:10. If you are right before the Lord, you need nothing more.

Have you repented? If you have then you have nothing to fear from people. You should fear God above all other things. People are very judge-mental. Nobody's perfect.
They should know better than to pass around gossip. I'm sorry that you were treated this way. Every one deserves a second chance no matter what.
Twifty1 I beg you to please return to church. I know exactly what you are talking about, but don't let other stop you from gaining your salvation. You owe it to yourself and no one else to live the best life you can live. You are the better person, never let anyone stop you from being happy. You only live one life. Don't let others ruin it for you. Pray and trust in the lord and it will all be okay.

Great message - everyone can relate all over the world- gossip is universal unfortunately- very damaging to one's character. It's one of the Commandments--"Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor".

Saying something that puts another in a worse light, even if it is true, is still gossip.
