  • WOW! that's all i have to say.. i dont even need this info, and still i enjoyed watching this..

  • What condenser microphone and audio interface would you reccomend?

  • Needed This Info!

  • Needed This Info!

  • very helpfull vid! Its great the way you combine a tutorial and a demo in one

  • Les chaussettes de la duchesse sont-elles sèches ou archi-sèches haha nice one!

  • That's great stuff guys! Keep it doing!

  • Hey what kind of camcorder were you using when you recorded this video?

  • @tyreethesinger Canon 7D

  • @ThePureMixTutorials did u use a lense?

  • @tyreethesinger Of course I used a lense!

  • Hey, fantastic! you explained the de-essers in such detail, that i now get the full understanding on how they work, thanks!

  • Aaaaaah! Been waiting for this for so long!

  • Beautifully said. ..

  • Do you guys advise to automate gain of vocal to get a more consistent level prior to putting it through a compressor? (I believe Avid are thinking about introducing a region-based volume control which is pre-fader)

  • @videoeditors it depends! If you have a VERY loud part compared to the average level of the performance... yes it s better. Otherwise you will hear the compressor work/freak out. If not... it s a trade off. Do you want to work fast and let the compressor ride the gain for you or do you have the time to automate everything? Do you like the color and the tone of your compressor? it really is up to you. You should watch the compression video where Fab compares both techniques.

  • @ThePureMixTutorials Thank you, will watch the video.

  • I really like the videos so far. Very straight forward, fast and simple!!!!

Hope you do more! I currently I'm taking a year course for sound engineering and audio production this really helps a lot!

  • CHEERS

  • great video!

  • What's your view on Dynamic Spectrum Mapper for de-essing?

  • @videoeditors That plugin rocks. Paul Frindle is a genius. I have not tried it for de-essing. I'm sure it should provide some good results if you map a mellow tone onto a harsh ssss. Worth a try. I will when I can. Fab

  • @videoeditors I am not really familiar with this tool. It looks different from other compressors though. The fact that you have to capture a curve by clicking on a button at the appropriate timing in order to determine what part of the signal will be above or below the threshold is new... I ve never tried. I do not know if it is accurate.

If it does regular multiband compression it must be just as good as the other ones.

  • I was just being facetious.

  • So, the lesson here is back off the mic singers.

  • @lilmrdr most of the time yes. But sometimes you can still get a decent recording whilst recording super close if you play with the angle of the mic. We re about the finalize another video about this technique. I ll let you know when it s out.

  • @ThePureMixTutorials Great! love the videos.

  • @lilmrdr If it is, then a bunch of companies would go out of business.... ;)

  • I've always read on mixing articles about the DBX 902, never seen or heard one; just like your Tape video, thanks for allowing us to see and hear what these old-skool analog components sound like.

  • @wizprodux My pleasure! If you really want to hear a difference, you should really check it out on the puremix website though. YT sometimes compresses audio a bit to hard for our sensitive sound engineer ears.

  • EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT
