My sister (12) and I (14) just watched this for the first time yesterday. My favorite show, Psych, had a Breakfast Club-themed episode, Judd Nelson as a guest star, and Ally Sheedy as a recurring character, so I wanted to see the original.

Was this trailer part of a show? The beginning does not match at all the tone of the film. It is rather interesting, though, to marry the breakfast club with sci-fi music, as if teenage anxieties were out of this world. Maybe an intentional joke?
