  • Run over those fucking cones next time.

  • Una s4 che fa una gara di salita con i birilli???? che spreco che bestemmia!!!

  • Dam shame that they had to put fucking cones in the way to slow this beast down. Welcome to the 21st century & all things health & safety.

Group B was the one full stop, sadley never to be repeated.

  • WHO IS DA RIOSS???!!! XD

  • is this in britain? just seems to be quite a lot of cones

  • @mojospin yeah, whats with the cones on every striaght section,,,,,like they don't want them going too fast, because the noise and all the excitement might give the endangered north western southern shit fly, stress thus leading to potential resperatory problems,,, and we can't have that now can we.

  • @BarryKunz64 people know how to ruin something good

  • S4 could accelerate from 0 to 62 mph on gravel in under 2.3 seconds

  • When this baby hits 88 mph, your gonna see some serious shit.

  • Must be bloody frustrating to drive like that.... 1st and 2nd n just a pinch of 3rd Gear thru the whole stage

  • Wow, the cones completely ruined that... Did he even get to 60?

  • I love how people say modern rally cars are quicker than group b cars, yes it is true but they are only quicker because the technology in suspension and brakes has improved a hello of a lot since 86. The fact that these cars are almost as quick due to their straight line power and are 25 years old shows just how much more advanced these cars were. Also, modern rally cars handle too well. These cars are better to watch, better to listen to and took far more skill to drive

  • This car makes all the ferraris and buggatis look like gay rich guys cars.

  • people !!!!!!!

dont forget modern rally cars are much quicker than gp b cars

people read a story on the net and believe it

an s4 at estoril qualifiying 6th is a total myth.it is impossible!!!

watch qualifiing videos from 86.the cars had upto 1400hp and half the weight of a s4 and the are designed for circuits

    wake up you dreamers

  • @markandrach Actually Cesare Fiorio, Lancia Martini team manager at the time, stated that Lancia and Abarth did some tests at Estoril on a secret proget, the now famous ECV1. It was a lot lighter than the S4 and it had a biturbo engine that had 700-800 hp. I'm not saying it woald have qualified 6th, I'm just saying that the ECV really did some test at Estoril during 1986 Portugal Rally.

  • @markandrach WHo care how fast they were, modern rally car suck so much... group A was even better than today WRC...

  • Honestly I would have been like,''Fuck this shit.'' and started plowing through all the cones.

  • the danger was the safety of the public, rather than the speed of the cars

  • Fantastica auto italiana

  • Delta S4 Grp. B cars had both a turbo and a supercharger working in series. This is the car that ended group B. Spectators were an ongoing problem, but when the Delta S4 caught its stride, several top drivers (and co-drivers) were killed plunging off mountains and really bad PR sounding stuff like that. It's like Walter Rohrl said (albeit about his Audi), "mere thoughts are even to slow for this car..."

  • @AOGDC10 It wasn't "several top drivers" were killed, it was 1, and he was a crash or win driver so crashed ALOT! Banning Group B and knocking the WRC back to group A was political. It's the equivalent of the FIA saying to F1 teams they'll be running F3 cars next year, at 6 months notice, after Senna and Ratzenberger died in one weekend at San Remo (which would never happen, of course). The very next year (1987) the FIA banned the world touring car championship during it's first ever season.

  • @tsport100

Politic sucks as proven many times but cars matters!!!

    Cheers to all petrolheads!!!

  • @tsport100 dont talk about that crash in 86 if you haven't check the history to see what happened this situation had so much more attached to and it had nothing to do with Henri's style of driving!

  • @WisdomeSage1989 Idiots like you are a classic..... I was YOUR AGE and followed the sport closely WHEN IT HAPPENED so I know more about it than you'll ever know ok! Pull your head in.

  • @tsport100 oh yeah?!!!!!!! well,, welll, my dad can kick your dad's ass. rofl

  • @AOGDC10 The biggest problem imo was that there was basicly no regulations for the crowd. Drivers dieing is the part of the racing (I know its sad, but risk is involved no matter what car you race). A simple "no crowd on the outer turn line" rule WOULD save several lives back there. And then maybe group b could still live.

  • bring group b back!

  • in this car i woulnt want a radio just the sound of the car will be awesome

  • scary ass car but I want one

  • HOLY FUCKING SHIT! LISTEN TO THE GOD TURBO SOUND! I COULD DIE LISTENING TO THIS SHIT

  • @elninokronos3 uhmm... the noice you hear is the SuperCharger i think.. and maybe the Transmission.

  • da cagarsi sotto per la strizza

  • Learn more about EVs ? no, thanks -_-

  • Awesome car. Boring looking stage. I know the cones are there to keep the speed down but I'd be one bored spectator.

  • those cones are friggen retarted

  • @CigaretteRacing219 yea they were pissing me off too the car couldnt get any speeed

  • Oh my frikking gosh, cones in the street? Is that what rallying has become? You don't put cones in front of a group B rally car. Disgraceful. Great vid, though, good interior sound. Too bad he couldn't unleash this monster.

  • @882952 yeah psh haystacks are more wanted!

  • porca puttana schifosa ladra lurida lebbrosa quanto cazzo va

  • I heard somewhere that this car can do 0-100 in 2.9 seconds on gravel. Sounds impossible but the car is amazingly light.

  • which country is this event held in?

Must be a pretty nice event if its worthy of a Lancia s4 or any group B car for that matter!!

  • I don't know why anybody is against the new regulations for 2011. Juha Kankkunen said the cars have simple diffs and no center diff. This means the cars are more likely to go sideways. The new cars are almost as fast as the current cars and will eventually be just as fast as the old WRCars. The new cars have no paddle shift gearboxes as well.

  • For next year the FIA is even limiting the amount of turbo pressure a WRCar can have and the cars will have a smaller restrictor. 33mm at 1.5 or 2.5 bar depending on the source. At least they didn't ban turbos. The engines will be smaller but will have to rev at a higher RPM, but I don't think the power will be down by that much.

The FIA even decided to take out the center diff and only use front and rear mechanical diff.

  • The "Super Production" version of the WRC mini costs around 345,000 GBP. Thats a package deal wtih an engineer for the first round. Keep in mind that this is not the WRC version of the Mini Countryman. This is the entry level S2000 version which will be a slightly detuned version of the Countryman WRC. The new cars will cost over 350,000 GBP. Even more for the platinum versions.

  • weight power ratio is quite nice, i think =)

  • Bloody chicanes

  • qualche birllo in più no??

  • The WRC will switch over to 1.6L turbo engines next year on S2000 bodyshells, with some additional enhancements.

  • @rendezvous65 ...that sounds like a horrible future. soon theyl ban 4x4 in rallying because ''it lets the car get to dangerous speeds dont dangerous roads'' if history had taken a differant turn by now group s would be running tiny 2.3 20v with twin turbos and supercharged and theyd handle it

  • @ineedajoint The WRC has already gone down hill since 2004.

  • @rendezvous65 That's because Colin McRae 'retired' that year ;)

I agree on going back to the basics is a good thing, rallying should be all about the mechanical grip and the driver's talent, without peddle-shifters and all kind of stupid 'extra' aids. I don't mind the down-sizing, perhaps they could re-use/-develop some of the 80s F1 1.5 Turbo's ...

  • @SKiLLa2007 No they developed some expensive 1.6T with DI. The chassis itself is based off of Super 2000. Citroen was even allowed to develop a custom engine from scratch. These new cars are still fairly expensive. Now they are around 400-480,000 EUR.

  • @ineedajoint No banning 4WD could make it more interesting, Oh well, the new spec is very strict according to Tommi Makinen, but the FIA still manages to make it too expensive. With a kit car spec, anything that isn't banned is allowed. The new cars aren't as complicated, and there is no center diff. Just a mechanical front and rear diff.

  • I love to hate this awesome video. He's not even given a chance to unleash 4th gear.

  • fuck those cones. actual group b there was non of that shit

  • I wish Group B came back. I'd start watching and following WRC again then.

If it comes back it'll be better then watching F1, A1, Indy Car, Nascar or whatever. :P

Though I doubt if it comes back it'll be as good as back then, since they kill everything these days with too much regulations. :(

  • fuckin cone chicanes ruin this whole vid

  • This could have been so much fun, especially for the driver. You're driving such a beast, you got nice straights & turns. So what is with the f*ck*ng cones. It`s like a 50Mph speed limit on the finishing straight on F1 circuits.

  • Juha Kankkunen said that a modern WRCar is slower than a Group B car, but the WRCar can take low speed corners much faster than a Group B car ever will, due to the technology that a modern WRCar has.

Next year, the current WRCars will be replaced with a newer car based on the S2000 rules, but will have a 1.6L Turbocharged 4 cylinder, with Direct Injection. Gerard Quinn said the 1.6T make similar power compared to the 2.0T's current used in the WRC.

  • 70 rear / 30 front. best of both!

  • 4WD italian fantastic car!!!

  • this is 4 wheel drive the first 4 wheel drive delta ever

  • These will never ever be beaten.... Modern spec cars can never compete, it's one reason why they banned it 600hp in a car less then 1000kg in a era were safety wasn't as gay as it is now... The end was always going to come bless Henri toivonen and serge cresto, that's what finished group b.

I wish I was alive to see it, rallying is not an wont ever be as good as the 80s era

  • Bullshit cones ... Let her stretch her legs!!

  • give me a modern wrc impreza, much quicker

  • @markandrach only on a very winding track, else you will always see the S4 tail.

  • @markandrach Sad. :(

  • @Maelstrom787 sad but true :-)

  • che mezzo! (y)

  • That wrong turn probably cost him big... 1:37

  • 0-62 2.3 sec

  • @Astartas i heard that was the time on gravel

  • superdupercharged :P

  • @justforever96

Maybe steering was on left because only british are driving on "wrong" side in Europe...

  • I don't know why I never thought of it before, but why are Group B cars left-hand steer? I thought Germany was the only European country that had left-handed steering, and everywhere else was all backwards like those zany Brits. ;)

  • Now the 2011 WRCars will be "loosely" based on s2000 shells. They'll have a 1.6T and 4WD. The FIA has now decided to bring back the paddle shift gearboxes and now water cooled calipers are now back in the WRC.

  • they drive proper slowly in corners compared to modern cars but the acceleration leaving the corner...... wow!!

  • It might look "proper slow", but with a 200 BHP power advantage, this car would wipe the floor with any modern World Rally Car. Group B was awesome, but too powerful.

  • @RON240R

belive me i kno they are fast and i love themm

but i was just saying they slow down

massivly in the corners which is WHY

modern cars get near the same times

  • i found the pylons starcaft says you need

  • The new WRCars in 2011 will have a 1.6T producing around 300 HP. They will also be boost limited to 2.5 bar and they'll use a 33mm restrictor. The same size restrictor as Group N4. The new cars will be based on S2000 chassis but won't have that 2.0L NA engine. Of course the FIA wants all cars to have a control box to make sure teams aren't cheating. I'm sure within 5 to 10 years the new WRCars will be just as fast as the old ones. The old ones are the current ones right now.

  • i had to stop watching by the time he reached the 12th cone chicane :| wtf

  • What a trash of stupid cone-chicanes...

  • @luisper74 is slalom session -.-

  • fantastic, can any rally car today

    keep up

  • When men drove monsters...

  • @pimpedvw When monsters were still build and races weren't ruined by too much idiotic rules.

  • Amen brotha.

  • Engine Electronics 3-4 years after the death of group B allowed Group A to produce 100f lbs more torque 2000rpm lower, they also worked to a lower overall weight, we also had crude 4 wheel drive, non adjustable dampers and no electronic diffs but what we did have were drivers capable of manhandling the above and 600 BHP, even today in a straight line the S1 can hit 100mph in 6 seconds with 125mph gearing 26 years after launch and lets see if anyone remebers the C4 or Focus in 25 years time!

  • Markandrach

We ran an Audi E2 with an official 580BHP around the Silverstone short circuit in 2002 and it was 1.1s slower than the Jordan F1 car, both were driven by M Brundle who could not believe the grunt from the 5 cylinder engine!, it took 5 years not 2 for Group A to run similar times to Group B mainly because of MASSIVE suspension inprovements, tyre improvements quickly followed.

  • when will people realise that it is a myth that this car would have qulified 6th on the grid in portugal in the f1 race.if you dont believe me watch video from the 80's of the 1400 hp gp cars in qualifiing trim.if you still dont believe me carry on dreaming.

also within 2 years the newly formed gp a rally cars were betteringthe times of the old gp b.

  • damn! 80s race cars are just insane, i mean, there were large turbos on the f1 cars and they had these as well :)

  • these monsters were better than the modern shit and they banned it because of stupid retarded spectators

  • @kubampower

That was one reason, the other reason: It was at the end undriveable, to fast and to dangerous for the drivers.

  • @kubampower it wasnt because of the spectators, it was toivonen's fatal crash with sergio cresto

  • @kubampower I thought they banned Group B cause Henri Toivonen and his co-pilot Cristo got burned to death in a mysterious accident. Spectators were part of the "problem" too, but it was the crash that sealed the deal, and the pres of the FIA banned a few hours after the accident.

  • @actionjackson9000 The FIA didn't ban F1 cars and make the 1995 Grand Prix World Championship for F3 cars because Aytron Senna died.

Group B was a huge threat to F1 in the 80s and the FIA were looking for any reason to kill it.

  • @kubampower I agree but apart from the spectators the drivers themsleves caused the end of the Group B era..Their hands were shaking after each race and their body was under pressure and there were many fatal accidents..

  • @kubampower The main trouble here is that stupid retarded spectators weren't banned...

  • @kubampower You are being kind of illogical

  • @kubampower That and the fact that they kept exploding their drivers...

  • @kubampower they canceled it because of many deaths inc. spectators and drivers!! rsp.

  • it must have been scary to drive the delta s4

  • The slalom thing is boooring

  • love to see this race a veyron on tarmac :D

  • its 2.3 seconds on GRAVEL, let alone tarmac :) beast of a car

  • 2.3 sullo sterrato*...sta scritto su wikipedia

  • This twin-charged engine noise gave me a serious headache, but I love that headache.

  • i love this car i love all the group b rally cars. my favourite are peugeot 205 t16 and audi quattro

  • i think they put cones there to slow the car down so that the watcing areas after it would see and hear as it starts to accelerate again :).. otherwise it would just go WOOOM pass by and you see like second or so :D

  • Thats to slow the cars down for driver safety more than anything. That car could probably have gone 140+ through those roads.

  • why they put cones everywhere? expecting some speed!

  • ストレスたまるコースやね。

  • yeah man, I agree :)

  • That was a stage designed by BRAKE and Telford Council

  • sorry man but I read that the project of suzuki is 1996... the project of delta s4 is 1984...

  • amazing car. pity about the stupid stage with all the slaloms

  • I know, really started to get on my nerves. No use in having 0-60 in 2.5 if the fastest you can reach is 30.

  • As quick as a Veyron off the line and the manueverability of a Miata at LEAST, not to mention it maintains this off-road. Not fucking bad for an early 80s car.

If only their safety advancements had kept up as much as the performance...

  • Nessuna macchina somiglia alla Delta S4.

  • oh my god... like the bugatti veyron!!

  • Did these cars have AWD, or just RWD?

  • AWD

  • @DoctorNumber46 Shows how little you know. A group B Lancia Delta S4 is most definitely 4WD. The 037 was RWD.

  • @tsport100 yeah I looked it up after I said that and you were right. I seem to remember hearing about it in some old coverage of the 86 Monte Carlo Rally though, and it really confused me, so now I get it haha

  • @tsport100 yeh groub b was all about 4WD how do u think Audi got caught up b othe manufacturures

  • Comment removed

  • @tsport100 who knows so little about the greatest rally cars of all time??

  • @DoctorNumber46 lol seriously. if you're gonna call someone out at least have your shit right.

  • All of the major Group B cars except for the Lancia 037 were all four wheel drive.

  • don't forget the Opel Manta and the Opel Ascona ;)

  • AWD

  • @justforever96 Tard

  • @TheEnduroExpert - Tard? For what? I didn't know anything about Group B cars 6 months ago, so I asked. And now I do know, and I'm glad for it. So, to paraphrase my American Redneck neighbors, "Go Fuck Yerself, Bud."

  • You know the Lancia Delta S4 was probably the fastest Group B car EVER, with 0-60 in 2.3 seconds on gravel? 550hp in a 890kg car, go figure. And all this in 1984! All of the Group B cars are astonishing achievements, but the Lancia Delta S4 most of all, probably.

  • LOOL "suzuki escudo"? ahahhahahahaha this is a real rally car not gran turismo BIG IDIOT; go back 2 play whit ur stupid game buffoon

  • actually there is a real Suzuki Escudo pikes peak car just like in the gran turismo driven by "monster" Tajima. one of the fastest pikes peak cars ever!! Look it up.

  • y i know but u can't compare the suzuki escudo whit the fastest group B rally car asd...

  • True!!

  • You just embarrased yourself.

  • LOL y sure; now stfu u're annoying

  • yeah it made a spectacular firebomb, fantastic idea putting petrol tanks around the engine.

  • The cones SUCKS....

  • Without those cones, these cars wouldn't be allowed to race, they're so fast - I'd rather the cones be there than not at all

  • lancia s4 tiger but cones?

  • I want to own one of these one day. One that is suitable for road car registration in Finland. Maybe 280-300hp will do...

  • TOO MANY FUCKING CONES!!!

  • lol WORD

  • too much chicanes ... :S

  • Sound is incredibily particular, double stage charging sistem in a race car makes the charger and turbocharger noises pretty predominant :D:D:D

  • where did u find it it was twin charged (turbo + super) and 5 starz! nice video

  • With all the cone dodging, makes this is f-ing boring....

  • whats with the cones?

  • to keep the speed dwn im guessing

  • They had to keep the speed down. Group B rally cars were just too powerfull and fast for roads like this.

  • is there a co pilot?

  • no this is a hillclimb

  • more cones please!

  • crazy son off a biach

  • answome car!!

the cones shouldn´t be there it cuts all speed

  • don't get me wrong, i love this car & rally. But what's up with all these cones in this stage/hillclimb? They suck!!
