The original, silent film, transfered to VHS was given to me by a Facebook "virtual" friend, Astrina Rassias. I did this project for her and completed the 1955 Georgitsi Wedding portion as a finished 11 minute video. There is a family copy of this video which chronicles the travels of their family to many parts of Greece ca. 1955 which runs for nearly 2 hours. I myself, have maternal roots in Georgitsi as well. This is an incredible video! Yioryitsi is my grandfather and grandmother's village on my father's side. I spent a few weeks in Yioryitsi in 1960.
No electricity or running water but plenty of adventures for an 8 year old!
We were there for the August 15 paneyiri. My grandmother's grandfather built the chapel Agia Mavra in the village. My grandfather was Athan Skroumbelos and my grandmother was Athanasia Rassias. Where did you find this?
