I don't understand these guys shouting MH! While playing Pudge, you can sometimes do randoms way more awesome, than here. Yeah, most of the time such hooks are pure luck, but sometimes it's also an intuition, prediction and skill. Remember all: Noobs use MH as their brain, PROs use brain as MH.

No it doesnt. it just goes through hidden terrain. Pudge doesnt move while hook is in motion so hook continues to move in straight line, not curved.

It was a calculated risk, by an experienced player. The drow could have gone only 3 paths 1) main lane 2) upslope into north forest 3) down into river. Since it's not main lane, the most likely path is 2). Now, the drow can run further up into forest or cut back into main lane. The drow sees the pudge walk back past first tower, so most likely will cut back into main lane as the most direct path to fountain. If pudge estimates drow movement speed, he can hook the most likely spot that drow runs.
