Ben Orr and Mariska Veres from Shocking Blue were similar in a lot of ways. Both born in 1947, both known for great singing voice and for bein very physically attractive and shy in interviews. Both very nice down to earth people by all accounts. Woulda been great had fate brought them together to do a duet. Will have to wait till heaven to see that one.

I normally don't comment on others opinions, but someone said Ben have been a diva. I SERIOUSLY doubt that. Ben was a very humble shy person and if you ever watch him in interviews, he barely speaks, he lets the others. I've read countless times about how very sweet he was.

It was a very rich era, musically (UNLIKE TODAY) - full of freaks on autotune.

ahead of their time...crisp and clean...their worst song is still a good song...first time i heard "just what i needed" on the radio in 1977 i thought to myself "this is bitchin'" (awesome was not a word we used back then)...Ben Orr inspired me to learn to play bass and i ended up in a band playing bass and singinging lead vocals in small and medium clubs from about 1982 to 1990...and yes we played some Cars' songs...good times

Ben was the best, most of my favorite songs are done by him. Ric hits spot on with Since Your Gone. But something about Ben, the voice, the persona, and in this video is so good. @oleboy1144 - Cleveland wants The Cars in the RRHOF. Unfortunately for us, New York City makes those decisions. They'll get in soon. The new album will remind the nominators and voters of The Cars just like a lot of us have been reminded.

ahead of their time...crisp and clean...their worst song is still a good song...first time i heard "just what i needed" on the radio in 1977 i thought to myself "this is bitchin'" (awesome was not a word we used back then)...Ben Orr inspired me to learn to play bass and i ended up in a band playing bass and singinging lead vocals in small and medium clubs from about 1982 to 1990...and yes we played some Cars' songs...good times

Ben was the best, most of my favorite songs are done by him. Ric hits spot on with Since Your Gone. But something about Ben, the voice, the persona, and in this video is so good. Is it me or does it seem Ben messed up the lyrics? RIP Ben, your were a fixture of one the best bands for the late 70's and 80's!
I hear rumors from Greg Hawkes The Cars may reform WITH Ric Ocasek? We'll have to keep out for more news.

Cars reunion? There's a post on a blog called, "Slicing Up Eyeballs" (google) "Surviving members of The Cars in the studio, mum on possible first reunion since 1987." Rolling Stone just posted about this too.

Not many know this but KRAMER had a fantastic character on FRIDAYS (a show similar to SNL that went 1 season).....the character was a skinny goofy nerdy guy who thought he was a stud and would approach women on the beach....if you love Kramer and Seinfeld....search out this gem!
