  • This is very disturbing. The idea that any love you would be kicked out at such a young age becuase he or she is gay is unacceptable in the United States of America.

  • i came out 5 years ago and im still discriminated against. i was kicked out of my own house in 7th grade. ive lived through it all. im not graduated high school early and going to college. i know how it feels to be homeless and discriminated

  • yes im not a government official but is there anyway i could help. i know how these kids feel because i was once homeless and discriminated for who i am.

  • this tumblr challenges stereotypes and keeps it funny lesbiansusingrowboats.tumblr

  • That's sad :(

  • This should not be what a shame!! I thank God for my girlfriend because my parents stop paying for college. And they kicked me out when I came out. Its a lot they need to change they also need to change independent status requirements!!!!

  • Why is this happening? I don't know shit about the US, being German, but I've never heard of any German teenager being kicked out by their parents for being gay.

  • @elfboi523 - I think the most popular reasons parents kick gay children out are: The parents are religious so, they think it's an abomination (God loves all His children - even the gay ones!). The parents are of financial stature or influential to the community in some way and they think a gay child will desecrate their status (these people are just assholes!). Or, they think they've done something wrong in raising the child so, they throw them out as means of punishment (WTF??)

  • I come from a counrty where they throw stones and ashtrays at gay people. There was about 150 in the Pride, and 8,000 people against them.

This summer I bought a rainbow bracelet in NY as a support for marriage equalty, and Im still wearing it at home. I don't care what people think. Im proud to wear it everywhere I go.

  • gay kids have to be tougher in their heart & will, so have a heart & support their cause, give back funding, give $ at cyndi lauper & friends concert in NYC!

  • In general it's not a good idea for Kids to come out till ur older & have another place to live in case you get thrown out. Sadly, It's a cold reality for kids. How pathetic is it to further torture them by cutting funding for this in liberal NYC?!!! SHAME! Societies are judged by how they treat the most vulnerable. This is the greatest country in the world, right? dont look behind the curtain. Thanks to ppl like cyndi lauper & Nate berkus (shelter looks great) who actually speak out & help!

  • I curse the parents of these homeless youth. CURSE THEM!

  • I live in a state that has 0 rights or support for gay people. we can be evicted, fired, and cannot walk in public openly holding hands or we will be arrested. In this state (that calls itself a commonwealth, yeah right) my people can even be killed and the police turn and look away not calling the killing crimes what they should be called, hate crimes. It's time for this to stop. An exec order needs to go out to all police and FBI needs to investigate the police departments for not protectingus

  • @the1tigglet Well, you're good at insulting people. Why don't you put that talent to use and write letters to your representatives. Tell them what you know and how you feel about it!! Nobody has ever gotten anywhere complaining on YouTube!! I grew up on the south side of Chicago. Back in the 70's, people of all races, creeds and sexuality took a stand... and people finally listended!! You can do that, too! If you want it badly enough, initiate the crusade and change it!

  • @hanktwofan already in the works, thanks for posting :P I write my reps all the time doesn't mean that the pretend democrats or the dominionist repiggies actually listen to that sort of thing. I did notice that democrats won like crazy this last election day all across states where the repiggies were trying to make themselves permanent or destroy voting or do some other horrible thing to someone. LOL ain't voting fun!

  • @the1tigglet -No. You're right. They will never take your letter seriously unless you have a few signatures behind it. But even that won't matter unless the other people are registered voters. They WILL investigate the signatures! There's a lot of power in numbers but there's even more power in campaign contributions! I don't know how much money you have but it never hurts to have a politician, or two, in your back pocket. A letter can go a long way if there's a $500 check in it...

  • Sorry, but I just can't leave well enough alone. Part of the reason why federal or state funding is cut, is because the funds are being abused. I've taken more than a few people under my wing, trying to help them get back on their feet. Some people just expect everything handed to them. That's not the way it works! When someone gives you a hand, you have to make the effort to pull yourself up and out! I'm not being hateful - that's just the way it is...

  • @hanktwofan

By documents I mean a birth certificate, social security number, a GED, and other stuff you need for job interviews. How is 13 year old suppose to have any of that stuff if he/she is suddenly kicked out? I have a friend who was kicked out all of the sudden just because he was gay, and if it wasn't for these services I don't know he would have done. These kids are NOT in any way taking advantage of the federal/state systems. They DO need them.

  • @jcvideo321 - I'm not arguing shelters or any kind of funding for children - gay or otherwise. Besides, I'm pretty sure it's illegal for kids under 16 to work... I have qualms when adults take advantage of the shelter and funding provided to the children. If you're over 18 - get a job!! Collect cans to bring to the smelter, cut grass, pan handle - do something!!! I'm saying, let the children have the shelter

  • @hanktwofan

Plus, what kind of teenage wants to be homeless and live in the shelters? The homeless shelters here are VERY overcrowded. You can't expect them to live outside, especially here in Alaska.

  • @jcvideo321

I understand your views that kids need the motivation to make something of themselves, but it's hard for them to have that motivation for anything if they're ostracized and marginalized on the fringes of society. It doesn't help at all when those idiots on television continue to ignore the needs and the civil rights of the LGBT community.

  • @jcvideo321 - You're right! I will never deny there is much discrimination against LGBT. However, until those rights are secured, people have to fight to survive. Not sit around in a shleter, waiting for somebody to pay their meal! Like I said before, I did a lot of crappy things to get paid. I wasn't above picking up cans, or mowing grass... you ever cleaned a pig pen? Not very pleasant in the least. Yet, I did these things to put bread on the table. It erks me that people are above that today.

  • @hanktwofan

I probably sound really naggy by now, but I happen to a volunteer at these homeless youth centers so these topics are really sensitive to me.

The homeless youth centers here welcome EVERYBODY, regardless of gender, race, ethic group, sexual orientation, and etc. Discrimination manifest itself in all levels and DOES affect your future. It's so frustrating when a bigoted idiot denies services to these people. Even if a kid does have the motivation, s/he is bound be shunned away.

  • @hanktwofan

As for the overcoming difficulties, there are NO equal protection laws to protect LGBT people. You can get automatically fired if you happen to be gay, lesbian, transgender, etc. It really helped that DADT got repealed, but that's only on the federal level. The civil rights community here in Anchorage has been trying forever to get an equal protection clause up but it always got rejected. There are NO law against LGBT discrimination, unlike the other groups you listed there.

  • Oh God, I knew my comment would get blown out of proportion. It is disgraceful that a child would be thrown out of their home for being gay and I'm thankful for the groups that provide hope to these young people. However, sexual preference has nothing to do with finding a means to support yourself! Is this girl going to work on Wall St.? Probably not, but neither will 90% of the remaining population. The idea is: Quit feeling sorry for yourself and make something of yourself!!

  • I'm not surprised with what's happening when the authority is into the WRONG hands.

  • Also, I shared this video on the Facebook page GOTBLISS Viral Videos.

Please look it up on Facebook since YouTube does not allow links in the comments section.

GOTBLISS is an acronym for gays, other gender identity minorities, transgenders, bisexuals, lesbians, the intersex, and straight supporters.

  • Regarding the need for shelter, how about the cities lucky enough to have LGBT centers or groups organize a sign-up system to house homeless LGBTs with well-to-do LGBTs who have a spare room?

Also, thinking of the Safe Parking Program in Santa Barbara, a system could be devised to set up mobile homeless with people who let them park in their driveways and allow them to shower in the morning.

  • Next, I am very disturbed by how easy it is to find gay sugar daddy web sites while there are fewer resources for LGBT youth and adults in need to find mentors and support systems while enduring hardships. We can do better.

  • This is another example why as a small population of oppressed people it is crucial that we all make a priority of making time at least once a month on a routine basis of getting involved to betting our community both politically and socially.

  • Way to go to the people trying to help out the homeless youth.

However, I really dislike the idea of limiting the focus to just youth. There are LGBT adults who are homeless and need the LGBT community’s support too.

In these economic times, we cannot rely on government alone to take care of helping the most vulnerable.

  • Kicking teens out, keeping them from progressing into jobs, hating them when you are their parents is NOT a homosexual agenda it is tragedy brought on by religious wingnuts and the parents and wingnuts should be responsible and ashamed. These are your children.

  • wow hanktwofan. And how can they get a job and live independently if they are discriminated, have no documents, no support, no parents, and nothing at all to start over?

  • @jcvideo321 - The part about living independently is just, that! Without parents and no means of support. It's called creating your own destiny. I don't know what you mean about having no documents... Discrimination is abundant with many Americans - not just gay youth. Black people, women, Jews... these people had to learn to overcome. Like I said before, I feel badly for the children. But there comes a time in everybody's life, when the only one that's gonna make a difference is, them!

  • What an ignoramus you are, hanktwofan. Holy smokes.

  • @breakingthisdown -I'm ignorant? What do you think life was like for millions of people before there were shelters? Do you think they just perished? No. They did what they had to do, to survive! I openly support any programs or shelters designed to help children. I have a problem with adults that claim they've been living in shelters for a half dozen years or more! There just isn't any excuse for that...

  • @hanktwofan Oh, man. You're not much loved around here, are ya? Do you know what it's like be disapproved of by the people who put you on this planet? By the people who are supposed to love you unconditionally? Not that sexuality should be a condition. It makes you feel absolutely worthless. To anyone. Maybe even to yourself.

You're not worth arguing with. Must be nice to be you, though. You must have all of the fucking answers. All of the blocks just fit into place, don't they? Creep.

  • @breakingthisdown- I'm not claiming to have all the answers! The only reason 'my blocks have fallen into place' is because I made the decision to get things right in my life. I never depended on anybody to do it for me. Did people help me? Yes, they did. And I'm forever grateful! The emphasis of this program should be focused on mental rehab and teaching the kids how to stand on their own two feet! Gov't assistance is just that - assistance!! It's not meant to be permanent!

  • @breakingthisdown - Apparently, you don't think I have any compassion. I do. However, it's hard to feel compassion for people that refuse to get the ball rolling for their own self! I'm sorry your parents hate you. But that's no reason for tax paying citizens to pay for your care, year after year. It's up to you to help yourself!! Not me, not the gov't, and not an organization providing help to children. If you're over 18, quit feeling sorry for yourself and get a job!

  • To you who commented under me ; how can she provide for herself when she isnt getting an opportunity because of the way she looks and because of her sexual reference ?

  • @tyroneworthey91 There isn't anything wrong with the way she looks. And her sexual preference should have nothing to do with getting a job, unless she made a point to address it in the interview!! And if so, why would you do that? I wouldn't go to an interview with the postal service and tell them I own guns and belong to the NRA?? What you're saying might sound good on paper - reagrdless, it's irrelevant!

  • @hanktwofan hey douche, when students with Ph.D.'s masters and bachelors degrees can't get jobs because of the top 1%, when these kids can't go and get their GED's and college degrees due to cuts in school funding by rethuglicans there is no future. They can't sleep at the shelter as a permanent home, they have to signup nightly to see if beds are available.

  • @the1tigglet - Hey douche! Do you think this girl has a PHD? No - I doubt she does. I don't have any schooling but it's never prevented me from feeding myself and having a roof over my head. Nobody ever said, life was easy. So spare the 'Woe is me' shit!!

  • @hanktwofan hey douche, it does prevent people from getting good jobs today, there are kids just like her who are out on the street but they went to college they did the time they passed with honors and they STILL can't get jobs oh and they have 100k college loan bills for it. Just because you live in an area that gave you a good chance at having a job doesn't mean 1: the minimum wage is what it should be and 2: that you actually have benefits because most of us don't.

  • @the1tigglet - I am more than willing to listen to your debate, but if you can't talk with respect, cry a river to someone else...

  • @the1tigglet recently large corporations have changed their insurance plans to cut off people who work part time from actually getting insurance for heal, and increased the cost of those plans x3 for those who are full time, they haven't matched the minimum wage to the current cost of living, and they have been laying people off left and right. Who's side are you on anyways, these people are stealing our livelihoods away and you want to argue hello, it's affecting you too.
