If they were both set at 'overview' (in the browser menu for Eris) they would be the same speed. 3g connection is 3g connection...

Pros: Eris does Flash (Lite), so that alone makes it 100 times better. The microSD card allows you to put on a plethora of music, takes thousands of pictures with the 5 MP camera & camcorder. GPS & WiFi work perfectly.

Cons: Battery life isn't great, but at least you can pop in a backup when it dies. Try doing that with an iPhone!!!

It's 2010 and Apple is still too cheap to give us a phone that runs Flash without jailbreaking it.

the reason why the droid takes longer to render is the pixels. 400x854 vs the iPhones 400x340 of course the iPhone will render faster, the problem is you have to zoom to read anything on the iPhone where as the droid its a lot easier and a lot more crisp.

Pretty nice basic web comparison it was a tough time at Verizon for me choosing which one to get, I eventually went with Moto Droid, just because of Android 2.0 and some other features not on the Eris. I do like the Eris design and the HTC Sense for Android. The Droid just has a vanilla(plain) Android OS so you have more of a sandbox for customization. The good thing though I have heard Android 2.1 should be coming for both soon.

And another note the pinch to zoom or multitouch is in the Android programming the HTC u can use it right off the bat but for some reason Moto decided not to open it for the Droid in the US but it is open in the European version(forget the name of phone) Moto has said they are planning an update for multitouch in the future with Droid, hopefully thats when 2.1 and Flash 10.1 come to it.

i was going to get the droid but when i picked both of them up, i really started to like the Eris. so much smaller and lighter. i missed the flip keyboard initially because i had the voyager, but i've gotten better with the Eris touch screen. it's never going to be as good as the voyager keyboard, but overall what eris does blows me away. its so customizable and easy to use. the only nagative i have after 3 weeks with it is battery life isn't great. maybe cause i use it so much
