That's some real good acting there from both of them. Mickey seemed like he was really trying to get her to spend the afternoon with him, and Stephanie looked like she really didn't want to. I know that's what acting is but still, it's as if Darren Aronofsky actually forced them to hang out for ages in order to get the right reactions.

@comedyfan3000 Milk was OK. But it was overrated. Sean Penn's performance was good but not Oscar worthy. Mickey was completely robbed he should have won. At least Mickey won the BAFTA... the British have always had better taste in the arts.

I like the 'low budget-documentary' feel to this movie. It adds to the realism.

When you add that along with great acting, great characters, and a great story line it makes for a winning combination.

Well said, and you can tell that the movie was made on a shoe-string budget....no special effects of any kind, and a lot of scenes done with hand-held cameras. Notice how there's very little make-up on the actors as well, and this continues to add to the very REAL feel that this movie has. Mickey Rourke is as real as real gets......BRAVO!

"Milk" was okay. It was well intentioned but the documentary on "Harvey Milk" was way, way better. "The Wrestler" is a classic, like "On The Waterfront". Rourke's performance is in the stratosphere. I'd like to see Penn and Rourke to a film together - they are friends , you know.

The Spirit Awards got it right: best film - "The Wrestler". Best actor in a lead role - Mickey Roarke. Can you believe that Springsteen's song "The Wrestler" didn't get nominated for best song (after winning the Golden Globe). I'm not bothering with the Oscars after this.

actually that is his daughter who hates him because he pretty much abandoned her when she was little. It is a excellent movie one of the best of seen this year. It is a remarkable story. i reccomend it!

There's only two women in his life really in the movie, don't let this stop you from watching it. It should've replaced Slumdog Millionaire all of its Oscar nominations, especially Best Cinematography and Best Directing, not to mention Best Picture.

thank you for saying that. slumdog is not worth the hype. its a good movie, but it's not this masterpiece that it has been painted out to be. personally i think everyone wants to have a favorite foreign movie without the burden of reading subtitles. i am pissed that the wrestler didn't account for all the nominations it deserves. how is bruce springsteen not nominated for best song?
