Neither lead nor nickel give off fumes, it's the flux or rosin core IN the solder that smokes. And that stuff isn't so bad, but I still try and solder with an exhaust fan or a small DC fan blowing the smoke away.
I love being inspired by people's interests. Even if I decide to make something completely different, I still use other people's ideas to boost my passion for being creative. Very cool, Meredith!
@xanokothe Exactly! Kip has his own channel for doing videos with fart noises and fake boogers. and the people who are into that cant understand this technical jargon on this channel anyways, that is why they get up set. I like Kips videos as much as the next person but I have the damn sense to go subscribe there to see him!
@elixeroflife I just miss the weekend projects, both Bre Pettis and Kip Kay. Kip Kay constantly would MAKE something. I still like this channel, but it has moved away form making things to just interviewing things.
yes I know they still make things, but there far and few between compared to before.
@xanokothe And once upon a time Kip was on this channel and there was lots of good videos. Kip made his own channel, and most of the good videos here disappeared.
@dexluther true, now he upload most of his videos in his channel. I love most of the videos, makemagazine have to appeal several groups of people, not just you
kinda neat but i can see the big circuit boards and battery packs becoming a hassle after a while. i think every effort should be made to use smaller components and batteries. as it is, its really just a novelty item that will only get worn at a special event or party to show it off. unless it becomes completely embedded, becomes so lightweight its almost unnoticeable, and waterproof/washproof, i think this is just a neat project to make yourself.. but not too practical.
Thats quite cool- but not as cool as kipkay and collin. I wish the would make videos like one year ago. only specific projects and not crap like this.
Sigh... watching this makes me feel verrrry untalented. =)

2:33...exactly what NOT to do while soldering. Stay as far away from the fumes as possible. If you don't have a hood, use an exhaust fan.

@higingbotham When I'm doing small soldering jobs, I hold my breath and only exhale on the projects. [shrug]

@higingbotham - too paranoid man. Just don't get the smoke in your eye or they'll turn into white ooze just like on Raiders of the Lost Ark ;-)
