  • Amazing Camera indeed

  • AMAZING!!!

  • nikon just announce the new S1200pj better than this

  • the only thing i find annoying about this camera is the noise it makes then focusing

  • Oh man... next step for Smartphones. lol

    Really though, this is brilliant.

  • nice..digital../ nikon.., S1000pj

    Thank you..Nikon Coolpix S1000pj 12.1MP Digital Camera : Price: $197.00

    More..bodyshe.blogspot . kom

  • With a projector, too? Was it made for the Jetsons?

  • Hey, I liked your video, I also subscribed to your channel for more. If you get the chance check mine out and subscribe too. Thanks!

  • This guy is like one of Actors in CSI NY. I forget the name....

  • If this had a video in to use the projector with your portable media player it would be amazing.

  • The most obvious negative about this camera! Image quality is subjective ... but the fact in this day and age of Home Theaters ... this camera is NOT EVEN HDTV (720p) video or 16x9 aspect ratio for the pictures or video it shoots! Who in the hell wants a NEW camera these days that is STILL only 640x480 video or an ANCIENT 3x4 picture ratio!!??

Have you looked at Digital Picture Frames in the last couple years?? They're even 16x9!

  • @lilrascalrc Personally I want a wide angle 16:9 and couldn't care less about zoom.

  • That is NUTS! and truly awesome!

  • When u play the video on the projector is the sound of that particular video loud enough? i mean can a bunch of people hear the video voices clearly?

  • What camera/lens did you use to shoot this piece? Some DSLR?

  • did you record this with coolpix?? i have that white noise too can i get rid of that?? some of my tracks dont seem to have that staticy noise

  • oh technology, how i love you <3

  • esta re bueno el prollector

  • dang nikon is the best they come out with best stuff, then canon tries competing hahah they suck , nikon rocks!

  • you speak like you have a potato in your throat

  • If you are curious how they did achieve the shallow depth field while recording try googling: DOF adapter

  • humreally bored and cute ^^.. Anyone want to chat or swap pics

  • i GOT ONE OF THESE MOTHERFUCKERS COST ME $439 CAME WITH AN EXTRA BATTERY,TRIPOD,CASE,MEMORY CARD CASE,USB SD CARD ADAPTOR...AND ALL KINDS OF NEAT SHIT....WELL WORTH IT

  • @Malo509 could have bought DSLR instead

  • YES, the only thing interested me is what camcorder they used for this - it's great!!!

  • I think this is suck review video because it make u think that the projector make life so fantastic in order to doing the marketing without tell the hell truth about its power consumption. U can use funtio for ten minutes to turn it in to a brick.

You (manufactures) should innovate battery technique before add more features that heavily affect the main function "take picture" and fuck off tricks like this vid.

  • I just want to ask about what type of camcorder youve used in this video coz it looks really nice(^_^)

  • projecter on a phone camera , now wat? a watch??

  • holy shit. a projector in a camera?! whats next?! this is amazingly cool (:

  • Pack some extra batteries...

  • Besides making it easier for a group of people to see photos of their loved ones, this is a good option for an artist to capture an image and project it onto a stretched canvas for tracing before painting. It also can be used for professional presentations as a back up when a Powerpoint presentation is not responding, or when it's an impromptu meeting.

  • @ lidarman2 & 5vi5ion5

At the end you can see the projector specs: Endurance (battery life) up to 1 hour!

    That's some neat feature!

  • I think the projector idea is pretty freakin' sweet. I'm impressed with just how well it seems to work.

  • How much power does that projector eat?

  • @lidarman2

lol, that was my first question when i saw this thing...

must admit i'll be surprised if it goes for more than 10min without recharge

  • @5vi5ion5 which one do you think i should get this one or the nikon s70 touch screen?? there both freaken sweet.

  • this review sucks

  • Is it possible to put on the memory card pictures and videos(in the same file format what the camera does) from the PC and project that to the wall?

  • yes

  • The design was definitely inspired by the old good camera LOMO Compact )

  • He's pretty good at getting fingerprints all over the screen.

  • lol, he just took a picture of a girl at a window behind the camera??? something sounds fishy here

  • Also does it have a 3.5mm audio out?

  • what would be good (Nikon) is if it supported all the most common movie file formats so you could watch movies put onto lets say a 16gb miniSD card (sd adaptor)...., probably would only need a firmware update, they will fly off the shelves if this happens.

  • i like everything except that it isnt SLR shaped. :(

  • Wtf? Why would you want that? There is only a minority of the point and shoot cameras which are shaped like a DSLR, and those are way more advanced than this camera (S1000pj)! If you want a DSLR-shaped camera, then buy a used D40 or something. The D40 is a marvelous beginner camera, and I use two as emergencycameras, along with my D300. You can buy the D40 for around $250 bucks now, so it's actually cheaper than this camera, which is poor in itself.

  • It doesn't operate good in bad lighting, and the quality of the photo isn't much to brag about either. Needless to say, if you want a good camera, which is better than the point and shoot, then just buy a D40 or a D60. You'll be better off with that.

  • how much is it in u.s. currency

  • appx $658.55

  • @paulcrews

newegg has it for $369.99, shell shocker one day deal.

  • I shoot with a DSLR normally, but I've been tempted by a compact for a while now for the moments in between.

Had a play with an S1000pj today and I was mightily impressed, while it may look gimmicky it actually works incredibly well and the build quality is fantastic. Ok, so there's no manual modes (I guess a lot of the operation counts as P mode if you're thinking in SLR terms) but that's not what I want it for.

    I'm all over it.

  • The geek in me knows this is too good to not have some catch. The excited child in me wants to go buy one.

  • IF ONLY THE CAMERA CAN BE ATTACHED TO MY COMPONENT TO PLAY THE SOUND... I WOULDN'T NEED TO BUY AN LCD MONITOR... LoL

  • u're very good looking.

    :-)

  • Projestor spec: 10 lumens; 5 to 40inch image size; 2m; Up to 1 hour BATTERY LIFE

  • one question, can u shoot while projecting?

  • why would u want to? coz u would be filming your projection of you filming.

  • Some good questions:

    1) What is the life of the bulb (LED?)?

    2) Can the owner change it out?

    3) Will the bulb tolerate dropping well?

    4) What is the battery life during avg. use?

All in all it's a great idea!

  • soon all devices will have projectors. it's the best way to get rid of looking at small screens. all the mobile devices and computers coming out are tiny because they no longer need a screen. so awesome.

  • @Cbayfishing

There is no bulb. This projector uses 3 lasers and a mirror chip to raster the beams. WRT life of the diodes, MTBF for laser diodes is typically 10k-100k hours... much greater than the 1k hours you're lucky to get out of a projector bulb. In terms of life, I would say the mirror chip would probably fail before the diodes as it is mechanical, and would also be more likely to be damaged through dropping than a diode.

Battery life is shown at the end of the video.

  • @Cbayfishing Use fucking google or go to nikon site morron!

  • @Cbayfishing It's an LED so all of those questions are pretty much irrelavnt. They will never wear out in the life of this camera so there is no need to replace it, it's a solid state item so the lens, display and other things would be destroyed before the led broke from a drop. battery life will be lower but i'm sure a flash uses more power than the led in short uses.

  • And so begins the age of personal "holographics."

  • @prevolition

    Yeh, great... :-P

First it was ring-tones, now you'll have to put up with chavs on the bus showing their happy-slap video clips!!!

  • @prevolition rofl, please. Projectors have been around forever, and they are nowhere near holographic.

  • @spacefaget

How long have projectors been handheld? Not long at all. Are projectors used for holography? All the time.

Also, you must take into account the push for 3D which will lead to 3D projectors coming down in price, as well as handheld 3D recording (check Gizmag).

It's all moving in that direction - you can't deny that.

  • @prevolition a 3d projector is not holography.

  • @spacefaget

Did you not read what I wrote? I said, "It's all moving in that direction." Go ahead and look up holographic projection. Gizmag did an article on it called "Holographic projection coming to laptops, PDAs and mobile phones." It was written in 2003. Why are you so intent on trying to fight an obvious observation?

  • @prevolition cool so some retard blogger predicted something will happen soon in 2003 and it still hasn't happened.

sounds like real cutting edge stuff.

  • @spacefaget

Gizmag.com isn't a "retarded blogger," it's a freaking news site that reports on emerging technology - tech that is available. Maybe you should look up some of the stuff I've mentioned earlier before making yourself look like a fool. :)

  • What about the projector bulb? Anyone working with projectors knows the bulbs burn out every now and then. Can the owner replace the bulb themselves or does it have to be serviced by a professional?

  • What gives, people? If you don't see the use to display the camera's contents via a projector, good for you-Nikon makes other cameras- and if its performance must be top notch, there are other cameras for you too. Many people see the use for this, obviously, it's been highly anticipated and its performance is obviously a compromise against the cost of the projector and they had a price point to meet.

It's like commenting on a review of a pickup truck saying you don't need a pickup truck.

  • Comment removed

  • I am a tech junky, but this is insane idea, and I don't think it will take off. To keep the prices realistic, cheaper parts will be made, less quality of the images taken. Camera is a camera, that is all it should do! If anything they should focus more on development of better image technology, battery life, this seems a gimmick for kids

  • Pretty Fuckin SEXY camera! :-) Thanks for posting this.

  • Nice Review.

  • projector @ 1:50

  • some people just want to take pictures and not learn to be a photographer, if your a photographer then maybe you should be looking at professional range of cameras?

  • Live in the moment! Go for it now.

    peace.

  • AYA HIRANO

  • less talking !

  • Hi, I really like the focus of this recording. Is it by the D90? Or what did you use? :)

  • What sold me is that if you look at the next model down it has all the same features without the Projector and is only $50 less, so the projector only costs $50 more, I'll take it.

  • That's interesting about only a few months for such an improvement, but I don't know how long it will be when we get a film-quality camera with the projector feature?

My case is special as I have incurable cancer and cant say that i will be around for another 20 years, or even several months for a new model, as a matter of fact anyone who expectss a long life is making a big assumption, I know I did.

  • Hope youre hanging in there allright, everything considered.

I think that with electronics, like in life otherwise, you should live for the (relative) moment. Theres always something better coming "in a few months", but that wont get you anywhere now will it?

  • Hi Skymaxy,

This may not seem to be the appropriate place to ask you about the cancer you have. I guess you would have tried all modern methods of treating it. With faith in God and His word, all is possible. If you are interested, can I send you some information on curing cancer? (I also have seen the DVD of a certain doctor (M.D) in the U.S who through complete faith and a simple therapy cured herself from terminal cancer.

    A well wisher

  • Thanks i appreciate that, but pls dont bother, with no complications I should survive Lymphoma for several more years, a better deal than some ppl I know got.

I have a basic belief in God and if he wants me to go or stay I'm good with that, we will all be together again one day that's why He can allow us to die, because he knows we are one day returning to a better world.

I'm not sad, I am happier than I have ever been.

  • There's always something better coming, you gonna spend your whole life waiting for the next model?

Life is now, you might not even be alive for the next model?

  • Well, yes and no, in few months digitals cameras will have the same quality that you have with a film camera.

My next digital camera will be a Nikon full frame with 20MP or more, and I will keep it 20 years, as I did with my film camera Nikon F801.

  • my advise is to wait, much better is coming

  • 10 lumen? Good enough for a party trick indeed, it will be swamped out if it can't be made dark obviously ;)

    Still nice feature

  • great feature!

  • I wonder the quality on the wall as VGA video output , but it is so amazing I want one

  • it is a nice feature but! if there is a cam like the new Sony TX1 with the new CMOS Exmor R Sensor i would choose this because this small camera is the first with no noise low light pictures and thats more important then projector, what is the sense of projector but noisy low light party pictures? The sony makes 6 pictures in less of a second and create a noise free picture form it.

  • any camera can have no noise low light with that much processing going on. Doesn't mean the pictures will look good. Still might be ok if you dont mind the pictures looking a bit smudged.

  • but even without this "trick" the sony is the best in low light cause its new exmor R chip which uses a different technic then normal sensors.

  • The question is about resolution of this projector. VGA? This must look....how?

  • Cool. It can be used like a slide projector!

I like it. I want one!

  • The picture does move mpenagos it is so obvious. Watch it again but this time open your eyes!!! It is so easy to see it moving as the camera moves. Try looking again I think you will see it if you really pay attention.

  • The picture does move mpenagos it is so obvious. Watch it again but this time open your eyes!!! It is so easy to see it moving as the camera moves. Try looking again I think you will see it if you really pay attention.

  • I can see the picture on the wall move... no trickery.

Also a good price, for a camera with such good quality and extras.

  • Someone answer my question! Hell Ya!

  • This guy's face(& glasses too) reminds me of Grissom from CSI.

  • Hehe yea he looks like Grissom and Jeremy Piven.

  • its him

  • Why doesn't the projected image move on the screen as the camera shakes or moves in the man's hand? All my cameras are Nikon and probably the 1000pj will also be in my camera bag soon, but this video is definitely false advertising....!!!

The 1000pj looks great but that part of the video robs seriousness from the message and should be removed or fixed. The video is showing a projection from another projector, probably a higher-lumen projector.

  • WTF are you saying when he moves the camera at 2:06 you can see the picture moving on the wall to.

  • Of course...! If the image on the wall is being projected from the camera then the image should move when the camera moves. But it ain't so!!

  • The images on the screen are entirely from the Nikon S1000pj that Nigel was holding and demonstrating throughout this video. There was no other projector or any other trickery involved.

  • Dude you need to look its not hard to miss when the camera moves the picture moves to.

  • CASE CLOSED!!

I don't care. I'll buy the S1000pj anyway and I think I'll enjoy it in special cases as much as I really enjoy my D90 and my S700. I'm a proud Nikonite [but...Nigel's hand cum camera moves and the projection stands still]. No problem. Case Closed.!!!!

  • Don't be mad cuz everyone is right and you are wrong.

  • Hey You Guys...

Case is closed. It's friday!! Let's go out and shoot some good pictures and forget about Nigel's hand shaking in sync with the projection.

I LOVE THAT S1000PJ!!! Nigel, your hand's steady as a rock!!

First time I post a comment and I get crucified! But, it's a lot of fun anyway!! Long Live Democracy!!

  • lol; the image moves as much as the camer in the guys hand does.

  • Amazon has it prepriced at $430.00. If the projector function is any good, that's a fair price considering the groundbreaking technology.

  • wtf r these ppl thinking when pricing these cameras? thats a lot of money

  • how much is 399 pounds in the u.s

  • About 660ish dollars.

  • wow thats expencive

  • I'm wonder about the downsides of buying an ultracompact digital camera like the S1000pj and buying a normal compact camera like the Nikon S640. From what I've heard the image quality suffers in the ultracompact cameras, is it true? I'm planning to purchase a camera within a day or two, I'm confused between these two. As much as I love the projector feature, I don't want to sacrifice on the image quality. Thanks in advance.

  • I NEED that camera!!

  • I was going to get the cool pix camera the Ashton Kutcher advertises but i read the review and they were all horrible. This cameras projection thing looks cool and stuff but is the camera durable. I have the Sony t-90 and I've had it for a couple of months and it's been great, I would recommend that camera to anybody.

  • That's so coollllll :D

  • yay im getting my nikonin 2 weeks :D i still wish i could get this 1 but im getting last years modle so its almost as good yay!!!!!!

  • sound is not loud enough.

  • Yeah, he's using the Nikon. LOL

  • it looks really old

  • it looks like one of those old brownie camera

  • Seems to have Auto-Keystone and have VR of some sort - fantastic bit of tech - great for portrait work (being able to project onto a canvas to make paintings/drawings of all sorts)

  • point and shoot cameras suck. get a real camera.

  • what would be a real camera?

  • an SLR

  • Get an 8x10 inch plate camera. THAT is a real camera.

  • niceeeee

  • 2 thumbs up superb

  • Great vid... I noticed that in the projection it didn't look as rich or hd to me...

    It's ok..

I see a lot of potential with this camera but I was also looking at the Nikon d300 s. something that works in all angles of my business. Awesome!

  • Looks great, is it possible to upload pictures from the computer to replay them on the camera? That would be even cooler

  • Just put the Pictures on your SD Card.

Open the map (or if you dont have one) just press vieuw button for the pictures.

  • of course, thanks

  • I can imagine idiots in pubs..

  • Apparently the battery last 24 seconds

  • The next is to fit in your mobile phone !!

  • That looks bad ass!!!!

  • all i can say... is ... wow

  • Seems so natural for a camera. I hope it takes off and becomes the standard. I can also imagine handheld game systems using this technology along with disadvantages (like location), still a good step in technology.

  • Does it have a image stabilizer while projecting and holding in the hand?

  • i wonder the same thing, i looks relay still.

  • japanese did it again

  • so cool

  • would be great if support some video formats so u can use it as normal projector to project DVDs or something maybe they should add some HDMI port in or something

  • when it coming to canada? we want

  • i dont think its even here in the US yet..

  • Was this video shot on a D300s?

The shallow depth of field of the video makes me think it was shot on a DSLR. If so, then the video quality is awesome, but the sound is a bit weak.

  • It was shot on a Canon EOS 5D Mk.II. We don't have a full production D300s body just yet.

  • I WANT ONE!!!!! lol

  • That's some crazy engineering right there. Definitely earned the "cool" part on the name 'COOLPIX.'

  • At 3:18, is that sound the camera automatically autofocusing ?

  • Shouldn't the projector have a cover over the front of it like the lenses did ? Great Nikon. People can not scratch their built-in projection system.

  • Wonder how long battery lasts

  • Nikon said it was able to support one hour of projection.

  • This Camera - revolution in hi-tech world! Pocket projector+12mp camera = сonvenience! Nikon - cool!

  • Yeah, thats crazy cool! I never even thought about something like that!

  • กล้องเทพ!

  • I agree!

  • I don't think it will get very popular but i want it! although I already have a camera and a projector...

  • So do I, but I don't carry my projector with me all the time.

    This is cool. How much???

  • ARE YOU THAT BIG OF A TARD that you couldn't watch to the end? he said 399 pounds, which is like 600$. pay attention next time.

  • chill

  • cool
