The CV990 was a really really hot aircraft. It raced towards the runway like a dive bomber. Must have extra powerful reversers to stop its crazy landing run.

Landing like a dive bomber! Where did the smoky trails go? The 990 has always been a smoke bomb. This one looks cleaned up somehow.

No you are not mistaken, if you listened to a 990 on the ground at idle it sounded almost identical to an IL 62.
