Yes he is an astonishing man and totally brilliant. I am considering buying his stock of parts but mostly for the molds. He has molds that are his design and the adaptors are excellent. I need to contact him again.
I met Roy Kaylor today, he's a pretty amazing dude, and I saw a whole mess of his electric vehicles as well as the molds for some kit car I've never seen before.... it was just astonishing.

if you put a small generator (e.g, honda small generator) will it turn into a successful hybrid? (in fairness, the fuel consumption would drop DRAMATICLY)
If you connected the electrical output from a standard generator you'd need to rectify it back to DC to run the motor. Most generators you can buy like at Kragens you will be producing AC. AC needs to be rectified back to DC and once you have DC then you can use that to run the motor but you will be limited to the amperage output of the Generator which usually is like about 60 amps. If would work but it would be slow. Most accelerations take 300 or more amps.
Yes, that is why in the earlier post that you need to rectify the AC back to DC so you can utilize the power. There is a loss but not a great deal. Once converted back to DC you can use the power but it will be limited as to what you can actually do. Your amperage will be the limiting factor.
If you have a VW Buggy then yes you can use this setup. I'd still use Lithium instead of lead. I am now using lithium and with this setup it should do fine. I am actually testing it in my 69 Ghia right now. I have the motor connected in the car and I replaced both adaptor bearings and have it all hooked up like a test bench to be sure all is well before I venture out on the street to test the regen.
Lead Acid Batteries are in my opinion just not viable for an electric car. They are heavy, Don't last long, and have little usable AH truly available. LiFePO4 Cells are a viable lithium cell and will get you a good long way at a decent speed. As for this motor in your truck. Not a chance. This is a tiny motor and best used in like a VW Buggy. Not a heavy truck. Even in the Ghia it was considered small as far as motors go. So to answer the question, I would not recommend using a setup like this.
Hi,you say 12 6 volt batteries will push a VW Ghia to 62 MPH. My question is how far will it go? I have a 1999 Nissan Frontier P/U (so I have a whole bed I could fill with batteries,once I beef up the suspension,and braking system,more weight+ bigger breaks) Will this system work on my truck? Thank you in advance for you time,Walt
If he can package this kind of conversion matching existed car models and sell them through supermarket, machine shops can simply follow their instruction menu to convert a lot of existing cars.
Ok, mine will have to have more power as i'm planning to be using a full size brushless engine and re-use/ amplify the power from the left-over energi created by the magnetic field.
It IS possible, you just gotta figure out a way to do so.
Lots of researching still remains and practical testing will commence once i get to start making the parts and assemble it.
Currently 4 magnet related projects are pending and more magnets are to be purchased before anything can happen.
First it depends on where your located. Second depends upon what your willing to spend. I'd sell mine but the controller is not yet road tested. I want to wait first. You need to look on the web. They are not easy to find but they are there. I think putting up adds will result in more luck than just hunting for one for sale. Ebay comes to mind.

I have about 6 kaylor electric motors & adaptor plates for sale and assorted electronics.
Please tell anyone looking for one or six to contact me, thanks--I have motors, adaptor plates, complete electronics, batteries -- Do-it-yourself on any air cooled vw or 914 ... or have it done. email akernoff2009 (@) gmail (dot) com
Thanks for the information. Some of it goes over my head. My motor has a small field wire. Is that positive or negative field wire? Keep me posted. Tanks for response...
I've put a G23 Jack and Heintz shunt generator / motor in a boat. Looking for a 24 to 48 volt variable speed controller. Tell me more about the PWM controller you used here? Thanks!
The starter/generator style motors are not your normal shunt Sepex motors. They will do both but you have one field that is common with the armature. Therefore you only have three wires to plug into your sepex controller rather than four. But they will not work with your standard sepex controller nor will they work with your standard series controller. I have been working slowly with Kelly Controller about this and have a new beta unit that is software modified to work with these motors.
The controller I am using here is the first attempt and it is hardware modified. The one I will be testing real soon is software modified. So we are testing both the new controller and software. I now have another VW to install my motor into and we can commence with our test. If it works you can purchase these controllers from Kelly and do the software modification and run your motors. They will do regen too if installed in a car. You can disable regen. The motors are great. Fast boogers too.
The starter/generators will do 8K rpm and that is screaming. I think if we are successful we will try a 120 volt controller with these motors too. Might just make a nice addition for small light cars that can do regen and be DC motors. Motors are military spec so are very well built. They will last a very long time. I like them but they are small. I'd like to see an 8" or 9" motor built like this. But for aircraft you need light weight. Movie and test vid comming soon.

@vinmassa the Kaylor motor is a 400 amp, peak 30 HP, shunt motor. At 72 volts it achieves 7,200 RPM. These motors can reach 10,000 to 12,000 RPM for short periods of time. Wt is about 60-70 lbs, as I recall. It is built to military specifications. I have 6 of them, plus adaptor plates, and electronics. email akernof2009 (@) gmail (dot) com

iwatchfunny 2 months ago
@iwatchfunny
If you connect it to an Engine you get a Generator. Not a Hybrid.
onegreenev 2 months ago
@onegreenev obviously just looking around on youtube and not actually being an expert, im confused... is it a generator or a motor?
iwatchfunny 2 months ago
@iwatchfunny
This one is both. Actually any motor can be a generator and any generator can be a motor.
onegreenev 2 months ago
@onegreenev and when i said connect it to a generator, i meant like one which turns fuel into electricity, to run the motor.

@onegreenev And once again thats gone right over my head :P
iwatchfunny 2 months ago
@iwatchfunny
Most small generators you can buy produce AC current. No DC. The motor Requires DC current to operate.
onegreenev 2 months ago
@onegreenev ... dont we have things to change the type of current?

An 11" or 13" DC Series Motor will do just fine. Or you could use a dual 9" or Dual 11" motor as well if you have the room.
Check out DIY forums Do a google search. Can't post links.
