  • great recording

  • Real music. Real people playing instruments without assisted computers. Bloody beautiful. Greatest lineup of all time. Improvising from their soul, now that's what I call rock n roll.

  • Is that a monkey at 0:29 ?

  • cazzo ...tanta robba ...

  • Ritchie: Oh excuse me I'm just going to have a beer while I keep playing this epic solo perfectly

  • 09:00 SALUD MAESTRO !!!!!

  • Ritchie Blackmore not paying a Stratocaster?

  • I wish Ritchie would do the world a favor and quit playing folk and bust out his Strat and Marshall Majors.

  • orgy!

  • Better than sex

  • They were all so good !

  • This is " PURE AUDIO COCAINE FOR MY BRAIN "

  • without blackmore deep purple are nothing though i do like steve morse hes not blackmore

  • absurdamente perfeitoooo!!!!!!!

  • at a certain point i wondered: what happened to "wring that neck"? But i didn't really mind ;)

  • i heard "The Mule"

  • Have you ever wondered how to mix Jazz,Rock and Classical? Well, here's the answer!

  • Deep Purple are Gods.

  • Terrific, Ritchie!

  • blackmore is a fucking beast, his style is amazing

  • I wonder who placed Ritchie as #55 (!!!!) of top 100 guitar players....... ?????

  • @phan777tom Some retarted who doesn't know anything about music..

  • Son la ostia :D

  • Rithcie isn't looking at the guitar, but human eyes and so can not see it.

  • Amazing, the best. The only one, the best, the real one, the only one. nobody could make a better music.

  • Blackmore can smoke anyone !! Hendrix and Clapton are running for cover !!

  • i come on here every day and watch this and i always get the 'first time' chills. knocks me over every damn time.

  • you can hear ritchie playing pieces of "rock me baby" here and there

  • As if the studio version of this song wasn't awesome enough.... ♥

  • @darkwizard381 He still is. He's still going at it today. :)

  • I ♥ Ritchie Blackmore

  • 技術は今が凄いけど、彼は全く違う感覚を持っていて、其れは真似出来ない、練習とかじゃない、感覚なのね、話し方が何か独特な面白い人っているじゃない、あれよ。 リッチー口調は彼だけよ。

  • Pretty weird seeing Ritchie without the Strat!

  • I love that old Pop Deux footage!!!

  • Being the fastest guitarist today was sort of like being the fastest gun back in the "old west." Everyone was always trying to beat you!

  • @jessetouchette01 Hell, yeah!! Deep Purple is the "BIGFOOT" of "jam session" bands, "brother!"

  • @Andymalcolm1 Hell, yeah!! He taught Hendrix how to tune his gee-tar! HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!

  • can someone tell me how did he play the part at 6:00 ?

  • @flowerpower644

tap notes w/L.H.,fade in (and out)Gtr. Volume w/R.H.

    (can be done w/Volume Pedal-easier)

  • some guitarists try to perform, some - perform. Ritchie is celarly one of the very very few ones who simply lives inside the music, is sort of fused with it. no wonder he can manipulate with it so easily. just the way we manipulate our hands or legs...

  • DEEP PURPLE & french cognac Napoleon Brandy X.O

What else for a perfect end of a night before bed?

So, when Erich von Däniken wrote his ufology book, questioning if gods were astronauts, watching this video I do a similar question:

Does Ritchie Blackmore is human? Simply astonishing.

  • Absolutely brilliant guitar playing from Ritchie Blackmore here. This, at a time where most other guitarists were just getting to grips with the Blues merging with Rock. The playing here is so versatile it's just unreal. How many genres were played by him in this performance? Rock, Blues, Jazz, Classical - simply phenomenal! And the icing on the cake has to be the English national anthem at the end, especially when taking into consideration the country it's being played in! A true guitar God!

  • this clip should never end in eternity...

  • Song is cut at 3.36 ... Live versions of Wring that neck lasted 20min at that time...

  • Jon Lord

    GOD!

  • Anyone know what song he starts playing at 7:40?

  • @Nlandra White Christmas, I think

  • @Nlandra Bing Crosby.

  • IMHO Ritchie sounded better with Gibson than with Strat... am I alone?

  • @phan777tom I think that as long as he's got a guitar, he's good

  • @phan777tom So thumbs up means "yes, you're alone"?

  • @phan777tom that´s why child in time on IN ROCK is the thing ever recorded by this band :P

  • @phan777tom Ive been saying the same thing

  • Brilliant!

    Blackmore at his best.

  • Ritchie Blackmore is BETTER than Jimi Hendrix!!

  • THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS I´VE SEEN OF MUSIC EVER!

  • In fact , Richie here and Lord have both wrung the necks of most rockers and heavy metal musicians by this masterpiece of the best Classic Rock ever played

  • N'1!!!!!!!!!!!

  • its tried and tested and yes withstands the test of time you can fuck it over two time it murder it but once you know yer shit yell know that rocks one bitch who never leaves

  • Feliz dia Ritchie Blackmore \m/

  • I'm the 50,000 viewer!!! :D

  • I'm the 50,000 viewer!!! :D

  • Fret GOD!

  • Jon Lord is the best!!!

  • Man, I feel paralyzed after watching that...great performance.

  • Led Zep had Blues and Country influences while Purple had Classical and Jazz influences infusing their rock ... I love both bands but I have always been a Purple man in the end.

  • french people liked it

  • is it me or does he have one of the bigest wrist's ever?

  • AWESOME!!! I see where Yngwie got his influence!!!!

  • I just learned to play this guitar solo

    just kiddin'...

  • as awesome as it is that they went into "my country 'tis of thee," i hate living in the us, and i am mildly irked by that.

  • yeah, Ritchie as a young guitar man, like a god....

  • the face of ian paice in 4:22 XDDDDDD

  • Mr. Blackmore just took a huge dump on all conventional scales. He is not confined by traditional scales AT ALL.

    Major respect.

  • OMG after watching this 100 times now it couldnt be any clearer to me that ritchie is a real GUITAR GOD

  • Can Blackmore get any quicker???

  • watch Ian Paice...just watch him..

  • Ritchie owns this song completly

  • Blackmore with a bibson

    FUCKIN GREAT

  • what the name of the classical peace that Ritchie plays at 7:15. Some song with Johann sebastian bach?

  • @kawasakiclaesson19 it is a gavotte originally written for violin

  • @coreyagraph I have Segovia doing it on a Bach all-guitar collection. Given Ritchie's early classical training, it's no surprise he was exposed to it.

  • The number one is John Lord!!!!!!

  • What a character Ritchie was / is! Of course he could play like blazes, but he was an entertainer of the first order as well. I have to laugh sometimes at the faces. Roger seemed to enjoy watching the show, didn't he?

Anyone know where that guitar is today?

  • @RedGibsonsRock He's doing a solo project with his wife called Blackmore's Night, they're doing medieval music, its very wierd nothing like this

  • @Adamboms I like some of Blackmore's Knight. I have to be in the right mood for it though. And that mood doesn't strike real frequently.

I guess I'm glad he's got something he's into so much. They take that whole trip a lot further than I could, though.

  • @RedGibsonsRock He once said that his ex wife stole it (if I remember correctly).

  • @vw1302s Yeah, I thought I had read that somewhere too. If that's actually the case, then I'd be surprised if she still had it. I think she would have more likely sold it (either back to RB himself or to a wealthy fan/collector) than just held onto it for spite. Wherever it is today, I trust someone is enjoying what's left of it....If a guitar could talk, man, that one could tell some stories!

  • @RedGibsonsRock I also remember an interview where he said that he got rid of a Gibson because it was too easy to play. And that he preffered the sound of the Fender.

  • amazing!!! oh my god! love it!

  • Just imagine going from 10 years 1953 to 1957 fast forward 1967 to 1970. Hendrix to Deep Purple. The sound shock that caught Planet Earth. Like what fuck is that? This is rapid creativity period that has never been done in the history of music 5000 years previous to this period and will never ever happen again so rapidly 5000 years in the future from the 1950s,1960s,1970s,and 1980s period of music

  • Many thanks for this excellent post!

  • Blackmore is a fucking genius!!!!!

  • Awesome!

  • 7:40 - 8:00 < best part ever!

  • Ritchie Blackmore! The best guitarist ever!

  • Blackmore is amazing but check soft machine allan holdsworth, hard job out there too

  • very very very nice impro liveshow

  • 6:50 - :)

  • I wonder if Ritchie also scalloped that Gibson as he did that with all his Strats?

    Guess not yet

  • @individrus he didnt, he started scalloping in 71 i believe, with whatever strats came after the black one used in this gig

  • I would really love to see Richie, having a head cutting duel with Jack Butler.

    :-)

  • This is the single greatest video in existence :O

  • Deep Purple, Lord Of The Jam Sessions

  • @jessetouchette01

and also mind the very speedy sweep he's played in the middle of this piece

  • @mhndshr I thought that's what he was doing....

  • what about Ian

he is one of the best

actually he is lefty my favorite

  • 0:28 those guys really felt the music

  • best jazz imitation of a (so called) rockband! in my op, they play cross-over

  • one thing i adore are the dynamical differences of dp

  • ritchie on gibson has something..but like the strat as well

  • that's one of my favourite Blackmore's performance!!! Ritchie is unique!!!

  • ritchie changes from lead to rythm in such smooth way

  • This is the 1st time i saw this live and I had the feelin he was playin a gison, what a tone, that crunch!! My boy's BB and Freddie King play same ax, gibson es 335 i believe

  • grandeeeeeee!!

  • wow, nice one at 02:33

  • @guitarDouchebaggery It seems a sort of sweep-picking...really impressive!

  • amazing guitar - blackmore the guitar god... thank you for adding this!

  • It's odd that a fantastic song like this went unnoticed by so many yet the overly simplistic Smoke On the Water is practically a household word.

  • @mrgears

many god musicians and many masterpieces of musics have gone unnoticed -except by some music philes- for a long time

  • Ritchie Rulez!!!!!

  • Jon Rules xP

  • Gillan is my God!

  • hey, mine too you know ha ha ha!

  • Great Great!!!!

    Blackmore God!

  • @BlackmoreMonares John Lord is Lord!!

  • Great quality, thanks.
