Ed O'Brien and bunch of us guys had the great pleasure of working out, competing and learning from Phil as a fellow team member back in the 60's......also having a great coach like Butch was nothing to sneeze at either!

I gave him no negative man, I did not even notice that .... he stated the facts Phil is in prision , I heard he is hoping to be out soon and but it behind him , friends have let him know he is still well thought of in WL circles as I understand he had wanted nothing to do with the sport for some time. I am opmistic and prayerful about his future as he was a great champ and many who knew him praise him than as a super nice fellow. Hell there but for the grace of God go I ,,,,,

Phil was a great weight lifter and a real nice guy. His 20" arms at 5'6" were so large that they created a problem for him racking large weights. I marveled at his power and physical makeup, particularly seeing him train prior to the Olympics at the Keasbey clubhouse.
