But pros drift AWD with minimal countersteer, not like they're drifting RWD. On dry track, drifting like that will get you in serious trouble. Just check out some of the AWD drift crashes on here.

Why does my 2005 awd a4 1.8t (ultra sport package) drift so easily in the snow? I tap the gas while turning and the back end comes out. I have driven other awd cars aren't nearly as fun. Is there an explanation to this, is it just audi's or is it because i have stiff suspension?

vw 4 matic doesn't exist... it's mercedes 4matic.

VW has the 4motion. But it isn't the same as quattro (Haldex clutch vs. Torsen). Take a look at wikipedia for the difference.

VW's 4motion comes in three flavors--Torsen, Borg- Warner and Haldex--just like Audi's Quattro.

In a nutshell, if the engine's transversely located--e.g. Golf, A3, TT, B6 Passat--AWD is Haldex.

If it's longitudinal and a sedan/wagon--e.g. A4, A5, A6, A8, B5 Passat--AWD is Torsen, else if it's a Touareg or Q7, AWD is Borg-Warner.

The diffrence between Haldex and Torsen...is that the system Audi use through Torsen gives a permanent four wheel drive. Vs. the system VW use whit Haldex.... Haldex only use the front wheel until they loose grip on the road, and under a micro second let power to the rear axel...and by doing that making the car to a four wheel drive.... So Audi is one of few brands that use the real and permanent 4WD....No switching of and shit =)

This shouldn't come at all as a surprise considering that both cars are based on VW's Golf.

not gonna lie im a fan of the snow drift haha... only problem i have is my stang understeers like crazy in snow and its tough to get the angle you need to start with lateral momentum so most my drifts have to start from a stop... which sucks but i can string some of it along pretty good... awd makes a difference eh... any damage from your little oopsy.???
