I think Black Flag is generally credited as being the biggest hardcore punk band, at least from that era. But despite that, Minor Threat are amazing, Ian Mackaye is a genius, his lyrics are still so relevant to today.

@juanchosevastian Minor Threat lasted only like four years but they were key in the hardcore scene. They're also credited as starting the straight edge movement. If you don't know what straight edge is it's a lifestyle that eliminates smoking, drinking, drug use and promiscuous sex (some do some don't i say this because my ex is a straight edger... and you get the point) also they follow a strict vegan diet. So needless to say minor threat was a key factor in punk.
