America is a Constitutional Republic, not a Democracy. it has never been a Democracy. I challenge you to find the word Democracy in the Constitution, Bill of Rights, Preamble, or Declaration of Independence. You were taught incorrectly.
@sporaticayt was't pre WW2 Germany a "republic" as well? you might be onto something though.. seems the "republic" of Iran and so many other "republics" sort of have a problem respecting the people they govern
Cynthia, A Republic is defined by a government where authority is derived through election by the people of public officials best fitted to represent them. Democratic Republics are ruled by tyrants.
America is a "Constitutional Republic." Constitutional
South Korea, Republic of Korea (ROK) Constitutional
The obstinate stance of Congress in blocking all things constructive AND their passive-aggressive pretense of Deafness-to-constituents is very frustrating. Add to that a commercial media seeking to profitably entertain vs. reliably inform its viewership, is muddling the "conversation."
The "trick" if there is one, is to get those yelling loudest to become intense listeners instead.
"There will never be a convenient time...." So, now is the time. I will join Annabel and the other Coffee Party USA citizens as we tell our truth to Congress and the world #OCT29. Enough waiting for someone else to say what we know is true. My country has been hijacked by the pirates of profit, I let it happen, and I'm going to undo the damage that happened right under my nose. The ship of state will be ours again, and we will chart a course of due process back to the safe harbor of democracy.
I am humbled by the hard work of the few to benefit the whole of us as Americans. I applaud encouraging dialogue. 'Our' work is to bring together those who argue against the notion of a collective common sense; and bring together the reasonable, the representatives whose primary goal is the basic rights necessary for lifting up this country and its citizens known as "We The People".

"...make it an invitation instead of a denunciation..." Great point she makes about encouraging dialogue.
