  • U cant really say they have a metal image now.. its just a modern brushed up mature look. Normally its kaoru and kyo with the metal looks, die and shinya look neutral and toshiya with his kilks xD i dnt think u.s. metal heads have the balls to wear wht they wear occasionally for example kyo's "hageshisa to kono..." look around tht time period.. as for the music it might be influenced by metal but its still diru.. besides techinically diru was always aggresive so metal would help express tht imo

  • HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you know what thge funny thing is? my first diru cd was Vulgar, I had never heard any of the songs on it before, exept for obscure. the first time I heard it, I couldn't stop shivering, I had goosebumps and I was sweating cold sweat all over. I was so ecxited, I almost stopped breathing. Three days ago I got Uroboros and the same thing happened. I always get goosebumps listening to dir en grey. that's what their music does to me. And I am so proud of them being able to achieve such a thing!!

  • I just wanted to say I became a fan by seeing Uroboros at Hottopic and deciding to buy it. I only heard Saku before. That's it, I had no idea how they looked like or what to expect of Uroboros but I bought it and ended replaying the hell out of it. Now I find myself trying to complete a collection of their discography. Yep, just by hearing one album I had a hard time deciding which band was my favorite. I only got three albums now and haven't heard the others but I know they won't disappoint.

  • I like them both in Visual kei look and their normal look now. But what makes me love this band for so long is their music. They're effin' great as always and never disappoints me.

  • @xxxdianabladexxx but i like dir en grey in visual kei, they looks so cute... and their music changed after being jrock metal... but i still love them

  • los movimientos de kyo <3

  • it didnt matter what they dressed like, their band was always amazing, i prefered their VK look, now they look like any norml metal band from USA or canada. but none the less their music was brilliant.

  • もはや音楽じゃなく芸術だ。

  • I hope they can swim....

  • Kyo's got hops.....

  • I just love the screams at the end <3 <3 Kyo is amazing <3

  • Cool I didnt know there was and english and japanese version of this song. The first one I heard was the english one.

  • does anybody know what the puppets represented? i always wondered what it meant o_o?

  • @RebmevonSaysHi216 id say they represent how we are all being controlled by "higher beings"

  • His blood curling shrieks are to die for

  • "I love Dir en Grey. Best band of the world. And they're don't Jrock band, only METAL. Jrock is like An Cafe.. Just sayin'.. I can't wait for the new album and Different Sense !"

  • @patiieful ur not the only 1

  • 0:18 - what a cute jump~ ^O^

  • i really love kyos strange swinging swaying dancing

  • The ending. It always sends shivers down my spine. This fading voice, being slowly disintegrated in vacuum... it's like a question to the world and the world is too afraid to answer.

  • @RatSitnov I remember when I saw them live a few years ago he kept that murmer going on for like 10 minutes. Freaked the hell out of me.

  • @NativeAlternative Did the same when I saw them. He is amazing live he doesn't say much but the music speaks for itself

  • they make me think about things people dont...think about..very often

  • Ehh, if you're just going to pay out Diru, then why are you watching it? Everything Dir En Grey do rocks, Visual Kei or not..XO!!

  • I think that there music was WAY better when they were doing the "visual kei" thing. Withering to Death, and Vulger, was hands down there best 2 albums to me, but then when i went to see them live for the first time they were playing Marrow of a Bone stuff which was good but there i felt like they were just trying to cater to a American Audience (with the excessive screaming) and so i was a tad disappointed. Saw them AGAIN when they released Uroboros (sp?) and i HATED most of the new songs

  • @RelixLionheart But dont get me wrong tho im still a dir en grey fan, and i do understand that a artist has to change and adapt, but to me it wasnt a good change. The change they made from Withering to Death, to Marrow of a bone wasnt half bad it sounded good, but from Marrow of a Bone, to Uroboros......i was sooo disappointed i mean with the Exception of this song, Glass Skin, and like 2 other songs. I really hope that when they release there new album that its a little different than last 2

  • Such a beautiful song. And i agreed! 3:24... = intense. Just another reason why I adore Dir en grey (for the emotions in their music.) I also love the use of the manga in the video. It's all so good ^u^ and I noticed in almost every video of theirs while you can see them performing, Toshiya, the bassist, always raises his arms. I wonder why..?? But anyway, I like it, in a weird way. I really admire all of their quriks :))

  • @dandie333rea It's like a signature thing for Toshiya! ... 2:21

    **And I agree

It's so like me to point out the brilliant technical aspects of videos, but it goes so well with the great music. I wonder how they made the shots at 1:10 with the hand/ face and at 1:16 with the spreading blood... just brilliant ^u^

  • @TheIceDemon77 by what?

  • I heard them for the first time earlier this evening. It was a special spot advertised by the DJ for music from the other side of the world. I came home and looked them up. I listened to the English version, it was okay. This was awesome though.

  • @BrightZtar1 I discovered Dir en grey very recently, too. 2 months ago, I belive. Looking at all the other fans, all the stuff I missed, including concerts, etc.. it really makes me wish I got to hear their music earlier. hehe. Now I am a huge fan! They became my favorite band in one day lol. And I soo agree, this version is amazing. Nothing can beat the originals. :)

  • Dir en grey is an awesome band .

I'm listening for rock for 10 years now and I always had a very strict jugement about music, especially about rock and I can say that they are genious . Of course it's my meaning but a genius is still a genius and we can't change this fact .

Ah Kyo, I love you .. Love your vocals att 3:24 *o*

  • Finally found out which manga those pix were from in this video! I began reading it (Drifting Classroom) & I love it! It's like a combination of Uzumaki, Silent Hill, Lord Of The Flies, & generally a 'shrooms & acid trip all in one. If they ever adapt it to anime, this song should be used somewhere in it. :D (There already is a movie version, which I'll watch once I finish the manga.)

  • This. is. Art.

  • look at these Rockers, they are the REAL BAD ASS"

and just want to say that there's much More in DIR EN GREY's music than simply 'Death' metal. Their music's emotional, and powerful. My heart beats for them. And I LOVE DIR EN GREY, as i believe alot of people do too!

  • omg i love this song thnx to my hbbie cheo shinigamie i found it yay muahh te amo babe =0

  • Fantastic video

  • amazing!

  • スクリームだしてみてえwww

  • I never liked dir en grey because they don't make good death metal this style suits them way better

  • @collinsrodog They don't make ANY death metal. Like, at all.

  • @ConsecratedOblivion well songs like saku sound like there trying to be metal but it doesn't sound very good

  • @collinsrodog Well, there's not really much trying to be metal; it just is. And I'd agree that it's one of their weaker songs, and you're entitled to your opinion of it, but when they do venture into heavier stuff, it can be pretty good. Kyo's vocal diversity is wonderful, especially with his growls, roars, screams, shrieks, etc.; I think it's fair to compare him to other such vocalists like Mike Patton of Mr. Bungle. They're definitely a diverse band, although I'd call Kyo the cornerstone.

  • @collinsrodog but they aren't death metal anyways, they're dir en grey, there is no way you can label them any other way than dir en grey, they're a genre on their own.

  • Man those screams towards the end. Pure fear in audio form. His screaming not only is so versatile but has the capability of showing multiple emotions.

  • All of the art and scenery go fucking perfect with this song

  • haha this is me and my gf's song

  • 1 person dont like dir en grey they can DIEEEEEE in a ditch

  • Dir En Grey = J-Horror Rock Gods!

  • Beautiful song! I love the way the music is put together and it harmonizes PERFECTLY with Kyo's voice ♥♥♥

  • I wish they didnt put the crap english version on the album. That ruined it for me.

  • @fyourcouchnigga Because it's english or because you hate the song itself?

  • @THEREALMOSH2 No, the song is great. I just dont think its meant for English. The melody suits the flow of Japanese much better than English.

  • @fyourcouchnigga Oh, I pretty much agree with you, just the song itself is kinda different from this version, and I like the song itself a lot.

  • All hell satan.......yeah 666 for ever dude!!!!

  • crying

  • This is such an amazing song!! Kyo kicks butt!!!

  • I love this song. It´s just amazing. But i love Gaze to, this two bands are the best bands ever. I think, Kyo is the better vocalist, but Ruki has a better voice. The Lyrics are to different, but sometimes diru make better lyrics, sometimes Gaze. Jeah, I love this two band soooooooooooooo much <3

  • one person failed

  • diru is so much better than the gazette way better lyrics and sounding music

  • DAMMIT DIR EN GREY IMMA HAVE NIGHTMARES NOW >_<

  • One of my top favorite Japanese bands ever, alongside the GaZettE.

  • @monalisasmilesforyou HELL YA THE GAZETTE DIR EN GREY (AND THE VERSAILLES) OWNS...sorry just puttin that out there

  • i love both the Japanese and English version... but i think i like to sing to the Japanese version of this song more so.

  • Ahh. I just LOVE Dir en grey. Their music is amazing and their videos make me ill. This video wasn't so bad though. Really great! Uroboros is probably their best album yet. Buwaha. Motivated to go read the Drifting classroom now!

  • thank you so much for this (:

  • seems like everyone forgotten about them :/

  • Huh....for some reason I have the english version. It sounds so much better in japanese tbh.

  • I'm sure i'm gonna get a lot of thumbs-downs and negative backtalk, but I'm glad they shed the whole "visual kei" image and just decided to focus on the music. i feel like i can take them way more seriously this way.

  • @OTATre I'm not gonna come with some negative backtalk, but I loved their visual kei image, but focusing more the music is always a plus, and they're still awesome :)

  • @omgbehindya thanks. i'm a musician, so i feel like the image thing is a cop out like " our music sucks, but don't we look pretty?"

the VK style itself has its moments, but i get irritated that in a lot of bands that becomes the focus in lieu of their musical integrity.

  • @OTATre

Naaaah i agree with you but they did write some of their best songs in that image.

  • @OTATre i agree with you, the music is most important. though i still like their songs when they were visual kei.

  • @OTATre So according to you, the visual kei image hindered Dir en grey from making "real" music... A band's image is just as crucial a component as their music. Look at them now. They're still maintaining an image, only this one caters more towards their new style. I could just as easily flip everything around and say that their current image (shock-rockish) is hindering them from making "real" music i.e. the songs they created during their visual kei era.

  • @OTATre (Btw I am not saying that there is such a thing as "real" music. Music is music. This is just to prove a point). If you just stated that you prefer Dir en grey's new style I would not have taken offense, but to imply that the visual kei was preventing them from focusing on the music is stupid. The songs Dir en grey created during that era were beautiful. If anything, I prefer them over the current material, but I like some of the new songs as well.

  • @meimeisellspanties you read too much into what i said. i just said i'm glad they stopped caring so much about "image". they dont really have an "image" anymore. i liked their visual kei stuff, (though yes, i like this more)

I just detest gimmicks. and the visual kei aesthetic is DEFINITELY a gimmick, in that they dress and act a certain way to promote their music. their music was always good, but now people judge them based off of how they SOUND, not look.

  • @OTATre I agree and disagree :D I love the visual kei image and I think most people liked them for their sound, All bands have an image to promote themselves really :3

However, I agree that the shedding of the visual kei is good since it gives them more versatility and it does separate those who just liked them for the visual kei image.

Either way they are an amazing band who have some of the best screaming I have ever heard!

  • @kionpin thank for not arguing :3 i wan;t trying to be mean! anyway yeah dude, watching kyo's scream just get better and better has been amazing.

  • @OTATre I know you're not trying to be mean XD Just stating an extremely valid opinion! ^-^

Man, I wish I could scream like that *-*

  • @OTATre A valid point. Personally, I think visual kei is a gimmick to me when it is a crap band. You could liken it to sugary frosting on a bland piece of cake or a fancy picture frame surrounding a mediocre painting. But if you have a really talented band with a good image it only enhances or 'frames' their talent in my opinion. Plus the whole 'I don't care about my image' is in itself a type of gimmick which is why society is full of conformist 'non-conformists'.

  • @4iz yeah, it's that constant catch-22 of "damned if you do damned if you don't" but i agree.

  • Comment removed

  • @OTATre As a fan of nearly 12 years I personally don't care what they wear. Its the newer/younger fans that seem to care i've noticed.

  • @RockMaiden1984 i believe it. i've been a fan for a LONG time so it never mattered much to me either. i never even knew what they looked like until a few of my really annoying weeaboo friends started "squeeing" over it and all that.

  • @RockMaiden1984 Agreed

  • @OTATre You get a thumbs up from me, I completely agree with you. I do appreciate their VK days though , because it shows that they are able to do a wide range of music. They are all truly talented musicians, and that's why they are my favorite band.

  • @gublue24 i definitely agree, i've always loved the band i dunno something about the unnecessary focus on image has been something i myself try to avoid with my own band, but their style has always been their own and sounds great, so i'm not complaining at all.

  • @OTATre Not disagreeing or anything, i just have question. If they still dressed like that, but made their music just like this, wud u not take them as serious? i mean does it really matter as long as the music sounds good? just wanted some feed back from some fellow direngrey fans.

  • @Hyde0089 I agree with you. They just shed their old image for a new image. It's the music that matters. It seems like some people just prefer their metal image...

  • Respond to this video... Visual kei or not direngrey is the same to me as far my liking to them. Isnt it about the sound? i mean does the look really matter?

  • @Hyde0089 you're absolutely right, that's all i was saying, i'm glad they're more "sound" and less "image" but i always loved them.

  • @OTATre

    I agree.

    1. They would look horrible in VK style at this age. That's what I think.

    2. The music is more important, and yes, we can take them more seriously now.

  • @nrx006 I completely agree with you. The music is more important. Visual Kei bands often have that type of fans that only like their image. Music is what makes them different from the others, not their style of dressing or putting make-up. They may look like a 'normal' band but they are not like any other. Dir en Grey are one of a kind. They are my favourite band.

  • @ton4encento Truuuue dat. VK or no VK, i'll always love them

  • Such a beautiful song

  • One of their best songs and videos. Simply amazing

  • i love the uroboros album!!! this song made me go to Hasting and by it right then and there!!!!

did not know they made an english version

  • Amazing!!! Diru ftw

  • Never thought I would see Die play other guitars that are not his signature model. Even more so, the Eclipse models of ESP. It's not a bad thing though.

  • Fantastic song and video. Perfect

  • Is that the Virgin Mary? OUCH! @2:19 religion pwned again!

  • @nafets1218 I may be wrong. But I think that represents the persecution of early Christians in Japan.

  • amazing song and truly gifted and amazing band

  • Looooooooooooooooooove the scream at 3:25

    <3 DIRU \m/

  • 1:35 looks so wrong. lol

  • Ahh

Y r the lyrics different to the CD???

Ah well still a great performance

  • I love this band. And this is my favorite song. It's oddly a song I could see "whoopie" being made to.

  • Fantastic song! Wonderful

  • Hell yeah..this music rocks!

  • best

  • HES SCREAMING RUBBER DUCKT!!! at the end :D

  • ...What the hell is this video supposed to mean/portray? xD

    They've confused me, this time.

  • Im pretty sure its about the suffering and pai the japanese went through when the americans bombed hiroshima and nagasaki (nagisaki?) in WW2. Ya. Judging by the shots of the bombing in the background.

  • I said that 7 months ago..

I've figured it out now. xD

  • No its from a Manga called "The Drifting Classroom"

  • That was sposed ta say pain btw not pai. Oopsies!

  • YES! Waited forever for this. It's SO beautiful; song and video. Five stars and favorited.

  • Thank you

  • I really like this video... it's nice that you can actually see them for once...

    and I love the song!

thanks alot for uploading it =D

  • Lol, what are you talking about? xD Most of the vid is just their silhouettes, and when the light does fall on their faces it's a fuzzy undefined mess. Unless of course, if you're referring to how the Maggots PV didn't have them appear at all. :3

And seeing their silhouettes against the solid backround made it look like an iPod commercial. xD Great song though.

  • it reminds me at parts, of Zan....but over all, I like it, its different,

  • yeah i got that feeling from it, it mainly reminds me of The Final crossed with Agitated haha

  • fuckin awesome video <3
