I saw it live 1999 as a German Mercedes-Fan.

The first flip had Mark Webber during the Session on Thursday (there are some photos on the web). Mercedes made some little changings but again Webbers car flied during the warm up. This is the third crash during the race with Peter Dumbreck, horrible because he landed between the trees in the forest. No one was hurt, but Norbert Haug, the Mercedes Motorsport-Chef resigned the cars and this was the end of Mercedes Le Mans engagement. Sad.....

@Js3009 Modern racing cars are practically aeroplanes designed to hug the ground; most would actually be fully capable of driving on an inverted surface (the roof of a tunnel for example). This one just had a flawed design that made it take off under certain circumstances.
