when he starts playing the intro riff he always manages to fool you by starting singing something different than you expect. Oh, well I guess it's the same song all over - only the words a little bit different. Hi Chuck.
Chuck Berry intro was actually taken from Louis Jordan's version. That's where he got his signature lick from. Anyway, Louis Jordan is a good place to get influence from, but Chuck's singing sucks butt, comparatively.
He changed the intro on this all his song he change the intro a bit each time people think it's the same because they don't know how to listen to music.
In an article in the local rag about "Music Plagiarization" - the author says that Chuck Berry pre-empted the opening riff to Louis Jordan's version of this song for "Johnny B. Goode. See the original version of this song and - who cares? Chuck RoolZ.
@jollywally001 Yeah you can DEFINITELY see the influence Louis Jordan had on Chuck Berry. But as any true artist does CB carried it a lot further than it was when he picked it up.
I'll take this cover as a confession of plagiarism

Man still hasn't paid royalties to birds for ripping off music from them. That's a lot of seed in back pay.

Better than the original Louis Jordan version, but Johnny B. Goode is still Berry's best song

I love that he uses the same three chords, the same three chords that are still used by pop artists today. No variants, i guess in popular music.
