BF3 Tips CITV + Guided Tank Shell shoot down jet and helicopter conquest Operation Firestorm mp

I would like some clarification. If my friend has CITV and I have guided shell... and he locks on, do I have to shoot in the general direction of the air target? Or can I shoot "ahead" of me with the guided missile turning around? Or, if I am in the CITV and I get the lock on, and he shoots his guided.... do I have to continue to track the jet? Thanks for any answer. Haven't been able to QUITE figure out the specifics.

@Valaman once the citv locks on, then the guided shell locks on you can shoot the shell in a direction no even pointing directly at the target. i do this when i have a building or something between me and target that may block the shot. i'll aim the barrel way up in the air so the guided shell will clear the building and go get the target.

@imys1 yeah, flares don't counter it, but ecm jammer is a counter to citv and guided shells.

If you have citv unlocked and you are driver/gunner does it still work? Or does it only work while you are in the third seat (I know its a passive upgrade btw)

I'm probably being dumb but I cant get a lock on except close range vehicles. But I get merc'ed on with it. And I've tried the aerial vehicle but can't get a lock. Advice, tips or just stick to getting in the mud with them and dodging aircraft

@nightmaestro2081 sounds like you're just using guided shells. to get good range you need another person using the citv (3rd tank seat upgrade).

If you get owned once or twice by guided shells, you can just switch load outs depending on situation.

Helicopters have similar lock on missiles too, but not sure if Helis have CITV laser ddesignator like Tanks

@Phead128 Helis do have laser painter, but it's wack. It's nothing like 1 hit kill. And also I would never switch to EMC jammer. If 1 guy has that guided shell thing and 10 guys have stinger, what's the point? Guided shell should do like 80% damage...

I can also see this working on Caspian Border. I will definately be working on the MBTs a lot more. (Well more then I already have been.) I'm pretty good with them already so hopefully it will not take too long to unlock those upgrades.
