I actually think Clem's drumming is closer to the speed of the records than any of the drummers the Ramones had. I like it much better than that rushed live stuff.
I think Clem sounds GREAT!!!..Personally speaking..I never liked the band playing the songs 3 times faster live!!..I'ts just a mess of a noise and ALL melody is lost!!..Joey can't even get the words in when played that fast!!.I missed Tommy when he left and things began changing!! =[
King Tut's Trenton City Gardens! I was there for this and I remember I was pretty drunk and thought it was me and then I realized it was the music that was unusally slow for them. Didn't matter I was at another RAMONES show and all was right with the world! R.I.P. JOEY JOHNNY AND DEE DEE
I was at this show. Joey kept throwing dirty looks at Clem. It was a riot. Years later, I met Marky Ramone and told him I saw Clem playing with The Ramones. He hung his head and said , "Ugh." I got a chuckle out of that.
@solitedo2e they kicked him out because he couldn't keep up with the rest of the band so maybe the worst drummer in ramones history. he just doesn't sound right in this band he was good but not for the ramones
Elvis was in the band for like a week. Not even long enough to actually be named a Ramone. Elvis Ramone was just an idea he had. He was terrible at the show. The whole band thought so. luckily Marky came back sober just in time.
This is cool to hear. Burke is an excellent drummer, not just with Blondie but w/ Iggy Pop and the Eurythmics. But as people have already pointed out, Ramones music takes a certain stamina, and you are not going to obtain it on short notice. Put it this way, if they had called Neal Peart under the same circumstances, I think we would be having the same discussion. Now if he had had more time to get used to how the songs are played, I think he would have been fine.
i think we all don't not like elvis just because we know that he has been a ramone only for a few days, but personally i don' t heard a great diferrence here !
Thanks for posting! Always wanted to hear what "Elvis" sounded like with the Ramones. Not too terribly impressed. Tommy, Richie and Marky were phenomenal. It kinda sounds like Clem couldn't keep up with the energy.
i seen a interview with clem and he said that was the most tired hes ever been from a gig and after this show he dident drum for 3 days he was so dam sore, alot of people dont realize ramones music takes alot of stamina,i never figured out how tommy just went onto drums and played the highhat like that, very unique and original style, tommy a very under rated great drummer of the 70s
Fair play to him for giving it a go at short notice, and I know there were some contractual obligations surrounding the 3 gigs in question, but it really does sound very strange. It sounds very much to me that he is throwing the rest of the band into disarray, by downgrading a well honed machine to match the drumming.
It just doesn't sound right, like something's been removed. He's one of the great drummers in "rock 'n' roll", an incredibly gifted musician, but obviously didn't work for The Ramones. It sounds soft.
Clem, Clem...whaddayadoin???? I know Johnny lived through the concert, but he probably would have burned every copy of this if he could have found em. Especially RnR Radio. Don't get me wrong - loved Clem in Blondie, overblown ego and all, but this ain't real squeezed orange juice; it's Tang.
heh... you can tell it just ain't right. He's playing the drums to the songs at the same speed as it goes on the albums, & as we all know... The Ramones sound a whole lot better at high speed.
clem burke is not that bad for Ramones. if ramones give much time at him for learn better the songs and the stye maeby "elvis ramone" can be stay whit they untill the end. sorry for my bad english! :P *gabba gabba hey forever*

This isnt that bad. I was expecting him to be completely off beat when I heard that he wasnt a very good drummer with the Ramones.

Si sente che la batteria non è buona, sembra fuori tempo..però Evis rientra comunque nella storia dei Ramones anche se è durato pochi giorni

Personally I Don't Think He Was All That Bad, Still No Marky or Richie, But Not All That Bad. The Ramones Drumming is Not That Easy to Do.

i think Joey is trying to disguise Elvis's drum sound by roaring.
but then again, he always was like that :)

Lovely to hear, but there is a massive disconnect between drums and bass. Which proves how important the drumming was. Thanks for posting it though

Yeah , the drums are pushing to hard , being infront of the beat

Clem may be ok for Blondie but i can see why he work out for the Ramones. He's way too slow and inconsistent for them. This is interesting to here.
