  • I agree we should use the huge ships used to whale and trawl and give them a new job of cleaning the ocean, take it back and recycle it.!

  • cool vid,

    ill subscribe

  • What kind of a bait and switch was this!?!?!

  • cant we just pull it all to china and let the, recycle it??

  • Plastic is a continues menace to the environment today and to our heath, It causes relies of highly toxic substance, such as Bxide, Benzene and Xylenes. Beside from hurting the eco-system these chemicals cases huge damage to humans and animals alike, everything from births defects, cancer to damage the nervous system and the immune system, affect the blood and kidneys.

  • I'm all about taking care of the earth, but this guy blames everyone else for problem. I bet you blame your parents for everything too? You can talk about "crap," and say the word "crap," 500 times if it makes you feel better. Bitch and moan is all I hear. I only heard one solution from your mouth, "stop throwing trash into the ocean." Other than that, you just put on a tough face and whine about how you can't fix or offer a solution to the problem and blame everyone else. Grow up whiner.

  • Future generations are going to be paying a heavy price for the greed of large corperations today

  • Instead of harassing LEGAL Japanese whalers.waston should take his group of losers out there and pick up trash. Wait, if he's picking up trash,he can't scam an old man(Bob Barker) out of millions for him to pollute the air and oceans himself.

  • your nose looks like a p-nus

  • 3:10 nice crocs :)

  • That plastic contains a lot of energy. Recycle it!

  • biodegradable plastics now!

  • there are other vids to see the garbage, its a short informational clip

  • Put Ayukawa's beached whaling ships to work collecting garbage plastic in the Pacific Gyre! Seriously.

  • If you're interested in recycling art and trash watch "Safe the planet-Recycling art" and Miss Biarritz you will enjoy it !!!

  • ironic how this guy is wearing croc slippers (rubber/plastic material) @ 3:07

  • I wanted to see a video of the plastic vortex because I'm concerned about it.

But your "short takes" diatribe against the GWOT put me off, so I didn't stay to watch it.

If you don't stay on topic, you lose people who would be otherwise interested in what you have to say.

  • So why don`t you offer some solutoins. 1.Use a reusable canvas or cloth bag while goin to the grocery store 2.Buy what you can, ketchup, drinks, whatever in a glass bottle.3.Buy cloth dypers for your baby.4.Buy leather shoes not plastic ones, this includes clothes, Did you kow fleese is made from plastic.5.Buy a mettal garbage can.6.wrap your food in wax paper or tin foyl instead of plastic wrap. 7.Download your music of the internet instead of buying Cd`s. 8. If you can walk somwhere, do it.9.

  • Talkin about Plastic but wearing Crocs ?

  • Is this guy the same who played Screech on saved by the Bell? lol

  • All you global warming freaks are falling for the biggest capitolism scam in history. It's all about making money and power and you are

buying all of it. Global tempatures have droped every year for the past 8 years. Go a head and spend your

Money going green and making money for the same people who own the big oil.

  • man is doomed

we make it worse by saving lives and increasing the population

    greed will be our downfall

in 100 years there wont be enough food for all

  • @turboMATRIX03 correct. we are animals. we think we know what we are doing, but we still understand nothing even about ourselves, and our own behaviour. it is extremely difficult for an individual to change their behaviour, and to conciously steer the behaviour of a planet of billions is not possible. whatever we do we do. and that is natural. plastic is natural because it exists. we made it. we are natural. if we ruin the planet then that is natural, we will naturally kill ourselves eventually

  • @tubestick00 Couldn't have said it better. The earth will naturally rid the infestation it has of humans by natural disasters or diseases. Maybe we will just kill each other for the last food sources when the time comes. Ever watch a bunch of starving kids fight over some food.

  • @kertbert1 yeah... dinosaurs ruled earth for 160 milllion years... we've only been here for around 100 000. we will be long gone by year 100 000, if by nothing else than evolution. we will have evolved so much in that time the genetic material in us will be different enough that we wont be able to mate with our year 100 000 decendants. we'll be like horses and zebra's.

we'd barely recognise them as human, so effectively we'll be extinct.

not that that bothers me. its interesting

  • @tubestick00 Funny how just in my lifetime I've seen humans change. Kids feet are larger than my generation. Most kids are larger and at younger ages than just 50 years ago. The world has had major hits from astreroids before which killed off thousands of species but many more thousands developed from what was left over. Yes it is interesting. I don't think waving a banner in protest will change anything. May as well just sit back on the front porch and relax. After work that is...

  • @kertbert1 yes... work hard, come home and watch the tide roll in and enjoy life. take pleasure in the knowledge that your one of the few who has a realistic perspective, and be at peace with the way things are going.

its the end of the world as we know it, and i feel fine.

  • The background music made me think I was playing a Leisure Suit Larry game.

  • its ok to know all this information and this video is informative but if you want to spend money intelligently making a video, why dont you give solutions instead of just spreading negative information.

  • If we legalize Cannabis we could stop the entire use of plastics, and use cannabis hemp. A complete natural 100% biodegradable substance. Not only plastic, paper as well solving the deforestation problem. Also, it can be used at oil. Completely eliminating major problems with one beneficial ILLEGAL plant. Ive only listed a few. Go and look it up yourself, and if you live in CALIFORNIA THIS NOVEMEBER YOU HAVE THE CHANCE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN

    LEGALIZE CANNABIS

and look up the TRUE facts.

  • yea cause every computer that accessed this video is made of plastic and various terrible chemicals. also the camera used to film it, and the servers that host the video file, and the cables that makeup the internet.

Point being... whats your solution collateral news? genetically engineer bacteria to break down some plastic maybe? You simply wont convince people to give up this comfortable life for the greater good.

  • stopped watching at 0:20

  • Everything's, always, "just the tip of the iceberg."

Now i'm not gonna be the fart on the elevator...but.

I do despise un chequed waste, deliberate pollution, mess-making

and... idealougology- they never get anything really 'done.'

Nothing personal- just... "business." Here in the USA the Mafia

runs most trash removal and... uh-hh, 'disposal.' ...

So, complaints must carry a certian monetary value or 'favor'(s)

amounting to an "...offer they can't refuse..."

    Slobs are another matter...

  • sotpap2003... um-mm you're a "people," too...

  • you make plastic from oil, and we all know that oil keeps the world going. thats why things are not changing.

  • A SWIRLING VORTEX OF CARROTS?

  • Look, I'm not trying to be a jerk but.... why do all of these videos TALK about this huge swirling trash vortex and not show us pictures of it???

  • @velveetaslingshot they take pictures of debree after floods that are trapped and call it the ocean,or show glass jar with dirt in them and say theres huge island of plastic...SHOW AREIAL PICTURES

  • We never realize how wonderfull this planet is! and on search for another planet to kill or destroy with! and the reality is. "there is no other planet like earth! why cant they stop these company of making this powerfull atomic bomd made of plastic!! cant they make nature friendly alternative to plastic?? obviouly most of us donot pay attention to our planet health condition and just being plain selfish fucking morons, so stop make believe that this planet would reach at its oldest peak!

  • Corporations and governments people. We've had so many patents for clean energy turned down for the use of petroleum and plastics. All you save the planet kill yourself people need to realize that, quick.

  • Ocean Voyage Institute is making a HUGE effort to clean up this mess. They are currently raising funds to go the North Pacific Gyre this summer with a team of volunteers to collect the plastic and trash that has accumulated there, as well as researching environmentally friendly ways to dispose of it. Please help save our oceans and the wildlife that live there by googling “dream sail raffle” and visiting our website, as well as posting it on your pages!

  • @TheProjectKaisei tell them to hook a net to the boat and pull it up and show us a net full of plastic..or shut the fuck up !

  • climate change doesn't exist dumbfuck.

do some research about the credibility of the main scientists backing global warming, aka climate change which is just the new buzzword to replace the debunked global warming.

  • I would have used your video as a resource in my efforts to educate and motivate people on this issue,

    EXCEPT

You apparently are more interested in painting people as villains than you are in addressing problems. And of the people you like to male into villains, you are driven more by politics than by impartial facts.

It's sad really. You obviously care and have a lot of talent.

    Signed,

    Cismar, a Republican.

Yeah really. I live on this planet too so it matters to me just as much as you.

  • If all the world could be set into producing weapons and war and cold war for 5 to 70 years then we can set it to clean up plastics for 70 years.

  • its all abouth the money... they arent doing anything to prevent it right now ore do they??? letts just keep dumping the shit! like deconstructing seeships by hand by the afrikan people for just a dollar a day, they could clean up the shit for 2 dollar a day... sorry i'n not kidding, its how most of our gouverment work,...

  • were destroying the world we live in and the animals we share it with whats wrong with us.what have we done to help this not much. why cant we just stop with the plastic. just dont buy anything u dont need and recycle

  • @sotpap2003 is right, the best way to stop this is to stop consuming in general. I was made aware about this through another video on VBS tv. I said to myself I will try my best to not buy anything packaged in plastic ever again...then I went to the supermarket. PRACTICALLY everything is wrapped in the stuff, even cardboard boxes have a thin layer of plastic to put the label on. When you go to buy your fruits/veggies, you have to put them in those lil plastic bags to be weighed. It's ridiculous!

  • i didn't klick this vid to see your face! i want footage from the garbage itself

  • Use it to soak up the spill. suck it up hoses and burn it for heat

  • why would you show so many horrable pictures of animals?

  • @Kitty42980 to wake you up!

  • Hang on this could be true... but where are the helicopter shots showing the 540k mile sq plastic shadow in the ocean? Sitting on a dirty river bank ain't credible but stuffing albatross carcasses with bottle tops is a delicate and highly skilled profession. Credit where credit is due. I'm glad I live in the Southern Pacific we only have to deal with whale murdering Japanese "researchers". Bit of balance please, and cut back on plastic use whenever and wherever possible. Beer's Better In Glass

  • fraud

  • To bad that you had to throw a political statement right before you showed this. I unlike some was able to look past that political crap about Demecrats to see what you wanted to share which I might add was very nicely done.

  • You know, there's this report I just pulled out of my ass that indicates that by 2100, the green conure will be the dominant species on Earth and the sea level will be nonexistent, due to the great ocean exodus of 2087, during which more than 95% of the water on the Earth's surface, in a last cry for attention, spontaneously hurled itself out into space. At least, that's what some computer model I wrote in 5 minutes indicated. By the way, 97% of anal extraction studies are 100% accurate.

  • @danieldeibler HA HA HA HA ! GENIUS! This failed hippie propaganda is so stupid! Why don't these morons look at the size of Earth conpared to any sign of human effect on it before coming up with these stupid "end of the world" fantasies?

Is this the replacement for the failed man-made global warming fraud?

Every fruad they try fails when REAL science looks into it, but this plastics thing doesn't even need that!!! HA HA HA, smoke more dope, you hippe idiots. Well done, daniel!

  • Yes plastic is a good material but we dont dispose of it properly. There is nothing wrong with caring about the environment

  • we think of our effects on the planet what we as a population have done. but far beyond our short visit on earth, it will most certainly have the last laugh. it was here long befor us and will be so long after. disposing of all traces of our short and meaningless habitation, we have populated this floating rock for nothing more than a blink of an eye, sleep soundly knowing in another million years there will be not one trace of human habitation, in comparison we are but a single grain of sand :)

  • @MrHunter6

true, but still it doesn't make sense to poison ourselves and our children and all future generations huh!

  • Humans deserve whatever we get for actiing so irresponsibly, what sucks is all of the other animals who are just doing their own thing suffer even worse. This would be a perfect planet if there weren't any humans to screw it up. Agent Smith was right.

  • well apart from driving around in huge gas guzzling 4x 4 i doubt the americans will ever get the message about recycling and pollution.

I have just come back from working there in an office out of 10 people that couldnt tell me where the local recycling bank was... why? because it didnt exist. FANCY LIVING IN AN AREA WITH NO RECYCLING FACILITIES TO A EUROPEAN LIKE ME THATS SO WACKY !!!! THEY are lazy and just dont give a care that was my impression of americans

  • is there not a european conter part to the american suv, like european suvs?

are you not sitting on a computer which is toxic/poisonous and is a giant hunk of shit that cant be recycled but has to be replaced every 3 years? the nasty shit that runs out of computer graveyards is KNOWN to cause massive birthdefects. and infact does. I am an American and I don't know ANYONE within my community that doesn't recycle....literaly.

  • well apart from driving around in huge gas guzzling 4x 4 i doubt the americans will ever get the message about recycling and pollution.

  • well if only we as consumers had the balls to refuse to buy anything packaged in plastic then maybe something would happen.

we are the consumers, the companies need the consumers' money.

we can control them by simply saying no to plastic. its that easy, but people are worthless scum and will never do anything unless disaster strikes.

  • @sotpap2003 I propose local land fills. One for every neighborhood.

  • @Henrickunit

    no solution at all

all those chemicalls would then enter our drinkable water supply

wich is already to rare. Actually there are studies showing every human on this planet has plastics chemicals in their bodies even you and me.

believe me, if it's in the water it's in the animals, if it's in the water it's in the plants.

if it's in those two it's in us. see that's how f'ed we are.

  • @sotpap2003 or you can just recycle.

  • @sotpap2003 were products of our enviornment. It's the story of the cave. If plastic wasn't there to be used, we wouldn't use it. Because it is, we will continue to do so. The real source of the evil is the producer.

  • @sotpap2003 you consumed a computor made of 80% plastic dickhead!

  • @sotpap2003 You are using a plastic keyboard connected to a computer made with lots of plastic plugged into the wall with a wire that has plastic insulation connected to a plastic circuit breaker that came from a store full of and made with plastic it got to the store by a truck that was made with lots of plastic that came from a plant that used plastic in it's construction.

Your solution is far too simple.

  • @sotpap2003 Nothing wrong with plastic, just don't put it in the ocean. Garbage should never end up in the ocean.

Lots of the garbage tends to be fishing net and other fishing stuff.

  • @sotpap2003 Unfortunately for your theory, WE need the products THEY package in plastics more.

  • Comment removed

  • @sotpap2003 I'm sure you never buy anything in plastic, all you fuckers like this on youtube are hypocrites.

  • Make no mistake, I am what you make me.

Treat the world like it is disposable and we will dispose of it. (Sigh) Just another thing that makes me mad.

  • where's the plastic vortex? all I see is this annoying jew. WTF?

  • Oh,we didn't realize you're Jewish.

  • Watching this video is like watching paint dry.....

  • It is 'eastern' to the U.S., but 'western' to the Asia. Since it's a global issue, I suggest the name be more neutral.

  • and im sure there are reports that say that they are both wrong. whats the point? have you heard the "reports" stating that in the last 200 years we have been exceptionally wet? therefore that would only offset this water rise your talking of, wtf do you expect from politicians? they HAVE to be that way, because everyones got a mouth to bitch with. i hate the state of the eco now, but dont be a whiney part of the problem, be a working part of the solution.

  • Are you still OK with your water or Coke in a plastic bottle? Now that you know the truth, are you really OK with it?

  • why cant we just pick up the trash it could be that easy

  • @1spacemannsam The problem is that trash like this shouldn't be produced. You can't expect landfills to hold all the trash? It's sort of like entropy. What's the chance of plastic not getting into our drinking supply when we produce...a lot.

Besides I think it's better if we just didn't have landfills. That way we would be forced to deal with the issue. You can help more by recycling than eating your garbage..cough...I mean putting it on a landfill. Check the plastic type if you do recycle

  • @Henrickunit i feel that we should get paid for recycling because americans dont have any will to recycle unless there is an award or prize or somethings i feel the people profiting on plastics should invest in hemp plastics because they are biodegradable and are the true future who ever is the first is going to show the other (followers). me and you are going to be gone from earth in a hundred years but our trash isnt our plastics may be still in the water breaking down toxically rememberthat

  • I hope we run out of oil soon.

  • @randers78 wtf your retarded

  • @Xxhalo3accountsxX says the guy that can't even spell "you're" correctly.

  • @randers78 spellin is erallvent on da intornets

  • theres such thing as hemp plastic??? if its biodegradable why arent we using it!!

  • Yes there is, but plastic comes from petroleum, and this world runs on oil.

No oil company would give up its supremacy to hemp plastic.

  • @povman

euhm seems logic ==> war on drugs

  • @povman as well as many other biodegradable plastics

  • @povman Because you can't patent a plant.

  • @povman because it's biodegradable

  • @povman Because of the financial impact it will have on the owners of the factories that produce non biodegradable plastic. It's dollars. Even though it makes no sense.

  • I almost clicked away with the "glacier melting" "sea level rising" Al Gore bullshit...

  • If only marijuana was never made illegal and we all used hemp plastic, which is biodegradable

  • I just hope the first people to be effected by this are all these brainwashed right wing idiots who have adopted this anti-science, anti-intellectual philosophy.

Take the fish that eat this shit and make them into McDonald's fish filets.

Oh wait....they probably already do. Good luck you fucking rednecks. You call this a conspiracy and you rail against health care. When you have serious health problems don't dare expect any sympathy from anyone.

  • HOSTED BY SCREECH POWERS...

  • hi, good documentary. i am wondering why if its such a big problem(which it is) why don't we ever see it on the news or on wwf comercials?

  • yeah, i bet you just eat the plastic trays that your tv dinners come in. hey-what's the difference right?

  • lmao

  • we need to quit talking and debating whos faults it is, its all our faults dont say youve never thrown trash out your window or never produced carbon gas to destroy the earth's atmosphere... did you know 80 something percent of electricity gets turned into heat and is another 60 somthign of it is lost through windowns of buildings and concrete is one of the main reasons it stays hotter in cities than in the country

  • very good shi7 all i can say is watch dont talk about the weather on here! the government really could care less zeitgeist shi7 like that!!

  • send the recycling boat to garbage island. use the first load to make a big plastic container, and send a golf cart modified to work like a golf ball retriever, and have a conveyor belt filling the container, when that gets full, make another container with the incoming garbage. this isnt that comlicated of a thing, they know where the garbage is going, they have charts. everyone chip in, give me 100million, i can pull this off. and for saving humanity, it should be tax free. less than $1 each!

  • @12u34me and that would create jobs and stimulate the economy. it would also require a maintenence fee, but it would be pennies a year for the average family. they just act like oh theres garbage and were all gonna die, but lets clean it up, we put a man on the moon 40 years ago. this is some plastic bottles, and caps that float? ever watch anyone clean a swimming pool? trash compactor? sounds complicated? leave it to me, 50% down.

  • Everyone keep it simple, dont stray away by thinking about accusing, who to blame etc. Take responsibility and mentally know whats wrong yourself.

  • Hahaha. Wait, was this hippie hating on Obama? What happened to... CHANGE!

  • ha ha ha really... thumbs down? ha ha WATCH OUT!

  • Comment removed

  • You stupid hippie condecending fuckhead. This is a video about the N pacific vortex. Way to litter this story with your opinion of "bullshit." See, thats why you liberals can eat my ass. You are notorious for piggybacking opinions on issues rather then be upfront. Why not post "my opinion of the war along with someone elses discovery which I will noy analyze... Jackass

  • wait up, what's this dude talking about wars n stuff, I thought I was supposed to hear about pollution...

  • rbwannasee, aptly named - you only see what you 'wannasee'. The raft of floating plastic in the Pacific is larger in surface area than the state of TEXAS!

I hope your kids live to see THEIR local environment totally engulfed by toxic HUMAN waste!

    DIAF, you complete tard...

  • My goodness. How bitter of you! Perhaps you could clean up the environment, and your bitterness, with one of your "harmonic time cubes?"

Remember, God loves you. He doesn't descriminate against weirdos.

  • @rbwannasee You're the bitter one, pin-head. You think it's cool to ignore these ecological holocausts?

BTW, I don't believe in your 'god' fairy-tales, but I understand that sad little bitter-filled types like yourself have to have some crappy 'life-after-death' story to help you sleep at night.

You sad, sad, hate-filled little person...

  • @zarathustra2k1 Dude ... posting comments on YouTube is so "Yesterday". Come on, get with the times! You'll never catch me doing it again. Oh - wait a minute .... DOH!

Oh yeah - toxic plastic waste - blah, blah, blah. I think the gulf oil leak puts this video subject in a bit better perspective. Now THAT is a real disaster for sure.

  • @rbwannasee We're in agreement there. As to which is worse, I'm not sure...

  • @rbwannasee Oil spill? Sound's like a science fiction movie about the dinosaurs comming back in the form of a black blood and reaking havoc on people. The reason the plastic issue is more urgent is because it will gradually get worse and worse until it's to late. Oil spill will eventually go. Besides I think it breaks down faster and safer into particles than plastic does.

  • Cash for clunkers, remember that? What do you think that was all about? My two choices are a) Money, and b) Saving oil. You think it was about the air quality/global warming etc.? 10mpg or 30mpg, that oil still gets burned and pumped into the air right? Now it will just take three times longer. Three times longer for a fat cat oil company CEO and his/her chums in the government to line their pockets.

  • By the way, US oil production peaked in the 1970's exactly as predicted mathematically by M. King Hubbert. My plea to all the oil and energy companies is please show us the respect we deserve by telling us the truth. Last years incredible oil price rise was, I'm pretty sure, a test to measure the social and economic fallout that may be expected from the impending shortage.

  • I've already figured out who is behind it, and why. If you want to know, then I suggest you read "Hubbert's Peak" by Ken Deffyes. The topic of the book is about the period of time we are living in right now. We are at a threshold in the history of modern man. Are you ready for what's coming?

  • Oh Christ, you believe in peak oil theory which has an insane amount of extrapolation, but think research concluding that the pacific garbage patch can be harmful to sealife is junk science?! Now that is funny.

  • Do I believe in peak oil theory - you bet I do. Why do you think there is a push for smaller more efficient cars, hybrids, and all electrics? Environmental concern OR oil and energy companies working their lobbyists overtime to stretch out the dwindling resource for as long as possible. Remember, above all - money rules. People don't give a shit about the land, sea, or sky if they can still make a buck. You environmentalists are playing right into their hands. They LOVE you, and it's free!

  • So, has anybody else noticed that the big environmental issues are like UFO's, Bigfoot, and the Loch ness monster? There is zero evidence to point to in the environment to demonstrate to John and Jane public that these issues are real. Step outside your front door and prove to me there's a hole in the ozone layer, CO2 levels are too high, or the planets warming up. It's all bull. The only "proof" comes from jabbering fools on TV. Makes you wonder who or what is behind it, and why.

  • First, it's not Democratic is Democrat, and I thought this was about trash, not politics, second it's plastic because you, "the environmentalists" wanted to stop felling trees, so you made it mandatory to switch from paper to plastic bags, now we are eating plastic, because once plastic got started, there was no stopping it thanks to you, but what about, "yes we can" from you koolaid drinkers, you can start recycling (which you should have been doing on your own) for twenty years now..lol

  • Yeah, excellent point. Now in various cities you get frowned upon if you ask for plastic, and they are charging a plastic bag tax. 20c in Seattle in believe. Environmental flip-floppers and hypocrites.

  • Yes, it is unfortunate the ocean has plastic trash in it, but is it an environmental catastrophe? - NO. What it is, regrettably, is the latest "cause du jour" of the environmental movement. After the hole in the ozone layer apparently healed up (no one talks about that anymore, because it was always there), and global warming is becoming groan inducing - this is next on the list. Soon it will be wind generators killing too many birds, you know, like dams and Salmon, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc.

  • @rbwannasee "cause du jour"?

    Die in a fire...

  • you guys arent taking this into account: plastic DOES NOT break down into nothing. it remains in the ocean even at the molecular level. because of its size, it is very easy for it to enter various food webs. example: plankton consume plastic, fish consume plankton, etc. its not insignificant just because its unseeable.

  • Rebuttal - nothing breaks down into nothing. It's called conservation of matter. Now, if the offending piece of plastic has beeen in the ocean so long it has broken down to the molecular level, then I would imagine all harmful toxins in it are long gone. If it were then ingested by a fish, then surely it would pass through the fish undigested as waste and end up as - well - fish crap! Every living thing generates waste, does it not?

  • Sylvia Earle, former NOAA chief scientist, was on the radio the other day promoting her new book (climate stuff = "green" in more ways than one!) about ocean health. She covered over fishing, over nitration from fertilizer, over acidification from CO2, blue green algae, and hormones in tap water! NOT ONE WORD ABOUT PLASTIC. Surprising for something 'the size of Texas'. Also made me wonder how much CO2 will be released printing and distributing her new book. Hope all that papers recycled to.

  • Do youself a favor...

    1. Set up an aquarium

    2. Put some fish in it

    3. Watch how they eat, especially down in the gravel

Now ask yourself if the tiny pieces of plastic are such a big deal. Oh, by the way, many fishtank ornaments, pipes, toys, etc., etc. are ... guess what ...

    PLASTIC!!!!!

  • are you dumb? why don't you have a tank and i'll bring in a plastic and we'll see if the fish dies.

  • You fool. The fish will not die. Do yourself a favour and google "plastic fish tank" and you'll see they are quite common, as are the plastic ornamental plants that go in them. I didn't see anything about mass die-offs of gold fish in plastic tanks. Do people who drink lots of bottled water get kidney or other organ failure? And my point about the way fish eat is that they spit back out what they don't want. Hell, they even eat each others crap before it drops fully out of the other fish's butt!

  • you talk like its just your ordinary "plastic" did you ever think there might be other "plastic" with some sort of liquid inside? maybe some cleaning solution? those plastic ornament plants are painted also right? they make sure the're coated with paint that doesn't fade off, so it isn't poisonous to the fish. this is not all about fish...you'll see bird dying also cause they ate a plastic piece. go look at the other clips moron.

  • Cleaning solution inside? This video was about pieces of plastic masquerading as plankton, was it not? And if there is paint on the ornaments, then surely that's toxic to - right? In fact, I think you'll find most plastics are pigmented with color pellets before being molded. Yes. I saw the other clips with the photoshopped turtle, and the bird that died of natural causes that washed up on the beach in the tide with other pieces of plastic that made it look like it ate them. Both bogus.

  • plastic is plastic...a bottle is also plastic. The point is that this crap, plastic or w/e doesn't belong in the ocean. bogus? i guess you don't own any pets. I personally know a pet dog that died cause it accidentally strangled itself from some ropes left in the back yard. personally i don't know why your saying that leaving garbage int he ocean is ok. There must be something for you..i just don't get it

  • In one of the other videos, they trawl the surface of the water (where 99.9% of the plastic is because it floats) in this so called "garbage patch" and SHOCKINGLY reveal a huge amount of plastic vs. plankton. However, plankton can live anywhere in the surface zone, which covers a depth up to 650ft. This is called fixing the experiment to suit your agenda - and is bogus. Yes, I do believe that a piece of plastic in the water does not pose an immediate threat to a marine animal.

  • if its good for the environment then i'm good with the agenda whether is bogus or not. we got garbage in the ocean and it must be cleaned up.

  • Bogus or not - LOL! You should become a politician. Hey, if you think it needs cleaning up, then get your butt out there and volunteer. Or are you, like most environmental types, all words and no action? You could sell what you collect back to the plastic 'nurdle' manufacturers and make yourself a few bucks. You may become so successful you make CEO of your own corporation, then buy yourself a fleet of stretched Hummers and a Leer jet. Good luck with your bogus or not bogus agenda :)

  • BTW: Obama will be behind the attack on Iran. Iran was the goal all along - Afghanistan one side, Iraq the other. All the peace-niks who voted for him are about to be very dissapointed.

  • Two points...

    1) Why do people eat fish anyway? Think about it - all sea creatures live in their own toilet water.

    2) When you edited this movie, you should have cut to the credits before you walked out of the frame! This way it looks amateurish and loses the impact you could have made.

  • Humans polute the very air they breathe....

  • Yay! A self-loathing environmentalist nut job! Here's a paradox - in just the same way a paranoid/conspiracy theorist person is conceited (they think the world revolves around them), an apparently selfless self-loathing environmentalist is actually a narcissist. This is because you are only concerned about how others perceive you (as some kind of saint) rather than actually giving a shit about the environment. BTW: Nature always finds its own balance, even if this means mass extinction.

  • Only defending the fishes...

However it apperars you think you know something about me. You come accross as so bitter that I expect you garner your penetrating knowledge from sucking lemons...

  • Yeah, that's me - ol' sour chops :)

  • I never toss anything into the sea or on the ground, but so few people care,

  • nice job man!

  • Very informative! Thank you.

  • your voice is dull and bores me but nice pics

  • it is, isn't it
