fired a twelve gauge for the first time the other day. I didn't really notice the recoil so much as the sound, i didn't wear ear protection. I want to start doing something like this
at my hunter saftey class, we went to the range. and shot some trap. it was my first time, and i got 10 out of 12. with a remington deer barrel. is that good for a start?
@EpicButtSecks Why is it a fail? As long as proper safety procedures are observed, there is nothing wrong with kids learning to shoot. I would rather see kids out shooting than rotting their brains with video games and TV. I learned to shoot at a very young age. I wish more kids had the chance to learn how to use firearms. Sadly more and more people in the US are afraid of guns. When people fear guns it's easy for politicians to pass laws that unreasonably restrict our second amendment rights.
@jasmine3337 No reason at all. Lots of girls are great shooters. In fact, girls often make better shooting students than guys do. Girls aren't as held back by the expectation that shooting is something they're SUPPOSED to be good at, so they shut up, listen, learn, and end up being great shooters. Guys, on the other hand are sometimes too macho to listen to their teachers.
shit im 15 and i shoot in an adult leauge over at a gun club bout 5 miles from my house. been shotting since the first shot i ever shot out of a shot gun. first shot i ever shot was at a clay bird. been shooting ever since. was 8 years old.
i've shot in state tournaments, nationals, and world compotion in skeet, trap, trap and sporting clay, you have to have a relible gun to shoot these sports and not a hunting shotgun. none of these kids had a shotgun set up for trap. and id rather shoot a trap shooter than shoot trap myself
@kastriotos depends what barrel they have selected top or botton if you shoot skeet you just pull the trigger two times and it fires one than the other
I shoot trap but I don't think your gun is supposed to be shouldered when you say "pull". It is much more difficult when you have to bring your gun up.
Why would you spend $5,000 on a shotgun? To compensate for being a bad shot? I've shot perfect rounds with a .410 single shot and a 870. Total price $400, look on the gusy face shooting a score of 22 with a $12,000 Perazi........priceless.
ohh hell yeah...this is wat i love to do..got a remmington 870..a very good gun for trap shooting. i hunt..hell even i work at a gun club..i shoot every tuesday night. been trap shooting and hunting since i was bout 4. started shooting at 6 with a bb gun. started shooting trap at 10. 15 now. it's wat i love to do
This is a great sport. I shoot trap from my wheelchair and it is so much fun. Not to mention it's one of the only competitive sports that people like me (handicapped) can participate in and be on an equal level as everyone else.
this sport may look eassy but if you have never tried trap/skeet shooting, your in for a suprise. when most people think of a shotgun they think of this huge pattern of bbs thats about 12ft wide and will hit anything in its tracks but thats definitely not true. you could be off the clay target by 6 inches and miss. just dont judge the sport before you try it.
Ok. I shoot 250+ rounds a week in trap and have won my share of shoots. Also, I spend the time/money into bench rest rifle shooting. 500 meter shooting (546.8 yards) for my Savage F-T/R, which is chambered in a 308 Win, has no problem at that distance. When spring comes, I'll have a video to back up my words.
i know man. i love to hunt and trap shoot and im really good at both. i just wish more people around me liked it to. i will never stop shooting tho...i love it. i shoot a browning cynergy classic sporting and i love the gun. i knew a nice sporting shotgun would cost about $2500-$5000 and this gun cost $3000 but its not about price its about gun fit. ive shot 100 out of 100 multiple time. i love the gun.
@CMgunguy44 i've shot in state tournaments, nationals, and world compotion in skeet, trap, trap and sporting clay, you have to have a relible gun to shoot these sports and not a hunting shotgun. none of these kids had a shotgun set up for trap. and id rather shoot a trap shooter than shoot trap myself
@CMgunguy44 unless ur buying a kreighoff i honestly dont see the point of going over $3500 for a Citori and im buying a performance shop benelli supersport for about $2500 which is about as good as it getsd when it comes to semi automatic trap guns.
Curious to know where this was at? I coach a team in Minnesota. We have 25 shooters from our high school. Schools all over the twin cities are starting teams now!
You must not shoot trap. Sure it is a little easier than Sporting Clay, and Skeet but it is still difficult or I would be busting 25 out of 25 all the time in rounds, but I only average 23-24. It's a fun sport that everybody can enjoy.
I love trap shooting i got myself a browning A5 and its just the best to shoot with :)
