can u please place the number of each part in the title so I can watch in order because I can't find parts 2 & 3. I'm very thankful that u uploaded this though :D thank you very much.
I wish I'd found your channel one year ago. Whatever gary947 posted really set off a fire storm and nobody wasted any time cutting his knees out from under him. I've loved film since I was a kid and grew up with B&W beauties like this.
Lighting was everything and masterfully used to convey every emotion and situation played out, with some help from the music. But, the lighting and shadows delivered the Drama. A poor Director needs a chainsaw, these guys just needed a shadow to scare you.
This is a very good film about men that take chances and the women who love them. I find that color takes away from the story and is a distraction. A film in B&W forces you to concentrate on the story. if you like this film take a look at Torrent Zone with Cagney.
Shame on you mate! Shame on your ignorant drivel. The fact that you live in the present does not, of itself, entitle you (or anyone else) to an immediate understanding of the experiences you undergo. You still have to do the work of thought, reflection, imagination. For such work you'd need all the help you can get from past achievements (count yourself lucky there are such past achievements). The garbage produced today simply spews out people like you, inarticulate, moronic, slave moralities.

hehe that is so right! i think we are dealing with someone that is too stupid to think, let alone type a correct sentence. If one reads his profile we find he does not like b&w movies and yet he goes and finds this film just to come make negative comments about the wonderful actors in it.
Life will always go forward, that's what life does. If you dropped off the planet tomorrow, the world would go on The point is if we don't learn from our history, we are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. History, our personal history, is whats makes us who we are today. To ignore it, is to deny ourselves and that which made us who we are. What it comes down to is this. I'm not going to tell you what to enjoy, nor are you going to do the same for me. Peace.
We, those of us who remember our past, who will not make the same mistakes over and over because we know our history, are interested and care about these actors. Those of use who have more depth than to care if Britney has shaved her head or that so and so went on a bender, care about our magnificent theatrical history. A flash in the theoretical pan, are what most of movies of today are. These grand old classics have a class that can not be matched. That's who cares about these actors.
Syntax, my dear. They're ALL dead now! You see, there are many of us who grew-up on these folks like Cary Grant, and they seem like old friends, even family. Most of the current ones one sees now at the local cineplex actually seem far,far "more dead" than those we are discussing. Of course, I'm taking really unfair advantage here. Those "dead guys" all had talent(and nowadays, that's a dirty word). Defense rests.
Arguable point, but this just may be Howard Hawks' masterpiece! This was supposed to have been Richard Barthelmess's "comeback" film (he had been a huge star in the silent days, and the early talkies). Allegedly, some attempted-plastic surgery on his eyes went awry, and Barthelmess never made another film. Too bad, he was a great actor!
This is really one of Howard Hawks' 3 or 4 best films, as well as arguably his most personal, for it not only sums up all of his favorite themes (professionalism, masculinity, stoicism, strong females) but he also knew and associated with many pilots; his dear brother Kenneth Hawks died in a plane crash.
Amanda, am so glad I found your channel. Will come back and watch this beautiful movie in its entirety very soon...need to get back to my life and responsibilities....lol

Then I assume you didn't go see the new Batman film, I mean it starred a dead actor. Why bother?
I also assume you don't own any DVD's. I mean my god 1998 was sooo long ago to some people.
If you don't like these films then don't watch them. Why waste your time bothering to load the page and then to comment.

climb out from under your rock, read a book and gain some knowledge.
Then maybe you will have the ability to write something more intelligent.

lol not sure why you are even viewing a film with dead actors then.........

Beautiful comment. Thank you for that. :)
Some people have no class and so they do not see
the worth these movies have.
