Tonight marks the anniversary of my very first concert ever, Sam's, held at Universal Amphitheater, I will remember that night always. I've had the honor of seeing Sam perform live 3 times in my life. The concert, Jesus Christ Superstar, and in the lounge of a hotel on a night when he wasn't quite feeling well and still he performed and sounded wonderful :)

This, in my opinion, just may have to be greatest vocal performance by a male that I've ever heard. I always loved Judy Garland's version, but Sam Harris took it and made it his own. Simply spectacular! Thanks for sharing this to bring back such great memories!

Enjoyed watching Sam win "Star Search" (1st Season) back in the '80s.  Saw his "More Broadway Ballads and Blues" show approx June 1991 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel (Cine Grill). Great performer! Got his autographed picture framed and it still hangs in my house. Wish I got to meet him though. Maybe someday at a future show. Best wishes to Sam, Danny and baby Cooper. :)

YES ITS LIVE :) You can tell because the vocal varies from the recorded version and you can hear the mic "pop" when he says "UP" and you get that on live mics, not smooth controlled studio environment. He was, and is an amazing performing, A shame $100,000 seems small compared to the prizes they give out now.

I honest, to goodness, absolutely HATE THIS SONG! To my innermost being I hate this song...

HOWEVER... I will ONLY listen to it when Sam Harris sings it. I remember seeing this when he performed it for the first time on Star Search and I STILL get chills and my tummy shakes! Fantastic doesn't even begin to describe it. Love, love, love it!
