Nothing to worry about. The launch is about 65 knots, or 70 mph, probably slightly slower than you drive your car along a motorway. You will be carefully trained how to safely handle a winch launch anyway.
Any activity can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing! That is why all glider pilots have to undergo a course of dual instruction before they are allowed to fly solo.
The second song at 3:58 definately makes this video for me. I know the song but I'm not sure of the title or artist... anyway, that song combined with the scenery is a really beautiful combination. Great video. Thanks!
who is cirrusflyboy?? do you glide at lasham? I DOOO!!! :) to prove it um..... well theres the red and white tina bus and the golf buggy but i think they took that away..:( lol then theres the john dear and the red ones. mwhehehe :)
A specially made wing mount, made of glassfibre moulded round a typical glider wing section, with three aluminium tubes sticking out of the front with a camera mounting at their apex.
Well you could have had 7 minutes of 60mph wind noise, or total silence - neither of which quite work! There has been a raging debate on the Lasham members group about suitable music for gliding videos, with suggestions ranging from Bach to Lordy and Led Zeppelin!
If you want lots of cockpit chat and slipstream noise, have a look at some of my other winch launching videos. This video was recorded using a small and lightweight mini DV camcorder fixed to a special wingtip mount, so it only recorded external sound, i.e. wind noise, which is very tedious to listen to! Music is much better.
I have tried playing this video to quite a few pieces of music, but I still prefer my original choices. I have made a shorter video of just the winch launch to 'Running up that hill' by Kate Bush, and I have left some environment noises in just to keep hrford happy.
where can i go glider flying?

It's just the acceleration you need to get used to...
200-250 kW vs 600kg isn't what You get in your everyday car I assume ; )

glider is always dangerous, if you dont know what you are doing. specially on prediction skills and airspeed vs time managerment.

The second song is called 'I (just) died in your arms tonight' by Cutting Crew.
The first song is 'Spirit in the Sky' by Norman Greenbaum BTW.
The rather nice rural scenery surrounds Lasham Airfield in Hampshire.

This is truly an excellent film! Judging by the light, this was taken on an evening group? Either way, great job!

Unless you put a small mp3 voice recorder in the cockpit ro pick up voice, radio and vario and maybe some wind noise.
