  • trains used to be so manly back in the day

  • Wish journey times were still this fast!

  • you cant argue that the 'Swallow' HST livery was simply but very loveable... much better than any current modern HST livery's..

  • I have been on these type of train once before and that was in October 2003 when I went to Sheffield for a day out. I enjoyed the experience.

  • from the brake van to another engine on the end.

  • love that loco. Thanks for uploading

  • nice work blade

  • talkin bout old manual signals ive seen them at nantwich station which control that line. Anyone else sen any?

  • 3.38 some ass has broke the light glass on that 125

  • So? Does a Bullet Train have the fantastic Paxman Valenta sound? Don't think so!

  • Im just saying its faster i dont get why i have 2 people rating it as a bad coment???

  • i dont get it why was there 2 colours for the intercity 125?

  • There are 3 i believe. have a hornby version of the 2nds version, which is like the black but grey. and as for colours.. im guessing era.

  • @SNAKEMAN742 The first colour was a variation on British Rail blue. After about 10 years, British Rail split into sectors and the "Intercity" sector adopted the swallow, black on white with red band etc.

  • In my opinion of all the liveries that the HST sets have had the one that suited them the best is the intercity swallow colour scheme. . The HST is legendary and the swallow livery looked fantastic. The FGW purple looks like something out of a "barbie doll" play set.

  • A magnificent train. The best Diesel Multiple unit ever built.

  • I think it's classed as loco-hauled as it's got a class 43 power car at each end, rather than a DMU which has an engine in every carriage.

  • Yes, thanks for correcting that. ;o)

  • @robthemod58 Although it's gone back and forth, the current offical classification is two locomotives with Mk3 coaching stock, rather than a DMU.

  • Well, thanks for 2nd second clarification that I didn't need......! ;o) I made a classification mistake originally (I'd had a few beers while enjoying the sheer brilliance of the 125, please forgive me. Now, can we please, get back to enjoying the worlds greatest Diesel hauled High Speed Train, due to sadly be consigned to the heritage sector as we don't build trains anymore (just test them at Old Dalby,) raise a glass and enjoy the video.

  • @robthemod58 Chill. >_> Just thought you'd be interested to know that 125s have been classified as a DMU on several occasions througout history, so you werent as incorrect as it seemed.

  • Bloody hell - so it's DMC1200's fault.....I was partially right in the first place ;oP

Anyhow, cheers for the information mate. Shame we've got to buy ourHST's in from Hitachi now.
