Women where married at age 12-14 as well, this was simply the custom amongst the ancient Hellenes. People didn't live as long as we do today, so they HAD to marry young. Men were sexually more free then women, so if they wanted to have sex with boys this very same age, usually a bit older, they could. Any younger WOULD have been frowned upon.

All I was saying is that we have to look at the broader historical and cultural context of this practice in antiquity (not only by the Hellenes BTW) to understand how it could be acceptable then (emphasis on THEN).
