not an ounce of heart or feel man. Not for me....good for some but I'm just not into this speedy stuff...barely able to get the lyrics in...i've heard other things you do and find them quite good...this one in particular doesn't do it for me..cheers.
You have your own style of entertaining and improvising, Tommy Emmanuel puts a twist on every classic he plays and the crowd seems to love it. Hey, rock on maybe we will see you at on a stage someday...
Totally ridiculous. What a ridiculous ego trip to completely trash a truly great song. The melody, lyrics, the chords... everything is great and you've turned it into a show-off piece for your frantic, confused picking. Do you ever listen to people who can play in that style...Doc, Tony Rice, etc.
If at least you picked a showcase 3-chord tune like Mama Don't Allow for that kind of show-off picking. But a beautiful classic!? Yeah, right, the sound you made at the end says it all.
Incidentally, the title and description of this video clearly state that this is "flashy and athletic" and a "stunt guitar take" on this song. I could not have labeled it more clearly.
Because you have an obvious sensitivity in these areas - perhaps your family was massacred by a man playing a folk song much too fast when you were very young? - you might want to take care to read video titles and descriptions before viewing, to avoid any future injury.
By the way, it's not that I think your opinion is invalid. It is valid.
It's just that you're, you know, an Internet Bully... taking out some sort repressed anger on total strangers from behind the safety of a keyboard. You should forget about music for a while and focus on getting help with that.
I dug it. At least you didn't sing it in the 'Chipmunk' key. That would have been enough to make Arlo turn over in the grave had you pitched your voice up and either mixed it with the playing or just sped the whole thing up to a 2 minute processed version of this. Maybe you could still remix it for a good laugh?
Not fair is right... that's like asking if I ever get bored with eating or sleeping. It's just something I do.
Pete Townshend? Thanks for the laugh,man... hopefully someday I'll be able to touch his solo acoustic version of Drowned from the Secret Policeman's Ball. Until then... I keep trying. Thanks for the compliment, though!
Ah, you found this vid before I had a chance to send it to you! Not exactly bluegrass - certainly a pale imitation compared to your vids - but as close as this raised-on-rock Long Island boy is likely to get, and I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for the kudos!
Funny, I wish I could fingerpick worth a damn. Grass is always greener. Actually I have an exercise I learned to pick like this with... just a standard bluegrass thing someone showed me that I played day in and day out for years. Once I clear my backlog of videos to upload, maybe I can post a lesson or something.

Oh, and the sound I made at the end DOES say it all. That's why I put it there. Idiot.

Hunh... alternatively I could do a super-fast version, but with pitched-down heroin-sounding vocals... that would be pretty trippy...
GuitaristInProgress 3 years ago
That would be humorously disturbing. I would love it. I guess I'm not normal at all. Whatever NORMAL is...
