I'm trying to get into RHCP, they really do write some fantastic songs, love kiedis for the most part, love flea, love chad, and john's guitar is pretty decent, but as soon as he starts soloing its like someone's putting a jackhammer to my ear. Just torturous to listen to. despite cleaning up, the man is still disillusioned to thinking he solos like God! Replace John With Jag Tanna if there is any justice in this world!
@OddManOut13 I also add the brothers from Redd Kross, The Kerns/Dahl factions from Age of Electric, and of course The Rolands' from Collective Soul :)
Ive been an IME fan for 12 years, and 2 months ago I met Brian in a bar in Fort McMurray, AB. I t was amazing, we had a big chat about the band.I hope they get back together.
yeah man brian was down at tavern on main just hanging out, he actually lived here as a tattoo artist. we had a huge talk..it was awesome.... IMEs been my favorite since i was 10. and when Ifound out tat brian , who is from the same town as me, Setady Brook I shit my pants.
7:32 Jag's so excited that he didnt screw up this part, he starts jumping around. He plays an amazing solo on the version off of the earth, sky, and everything in between, but he screws up that one part. That part that he plays right at the end of the solo sounds so ridiculously hard to play.
check4gills: yeah thats jag playing slap 6-string. I'm not really sure how he does it though, I can play the slap line to juicy, but any of his faster ones, forget about it
It was a wierd album...I have it tho I think it was Christian Tanna's ( drummer) best album he whiped a Danny Carey out of his ass on a few occasions which surprized the hell outta me
You think if Jag and Chris didn't think Bruce was tight as hell on bass, they'd keep him just to be nice guys? Well, how would I know, but Im pretty sure they would've ditched him. Bruce is wicked. Jag is the best guitarist. I'm not a drummer, but if I was I'd prob think Chris is the best. Edwin was a great singer, and maybe the reason IME had female fans, but talent-wise, I think Bryan is a much better lyricist, and also a great singer (especially in the studio).
I agree with you about Bryan being a much better singer, but in terms of lyricism neither of them had anything to do with the song-writing process except for a few songs here and there, un-noticed ones. Jag and Chris actually said that both of them were simply there to sing the songs that were already written for them.
I'm tired of so called IME 'fans' trying to pin their greatness on one member. The band is the core, including that percussion guy, they all are the best at their instruments.
Thats right. IME pre Bryan, IME post Ediwn, forget it, the band made wicked tunes for the entirety of their career, it's music and it's obviously the music you are interested in so love it ALL for what it is.
BRIAN ROCKS........EDWIN DID NOT FIT THE BAND. i SAW THEM LIVE IN 98 WITH EDWIN, CAME OUT WITH HIS SKIN TIGHT SHINNY SHIRT ON AND THE REST OF THE BAND WITH DREADS AND BEADS. DOESN'T MATCH. bRIAN WORKS WITH THIS BAND. bRIAN bYRNE ALL THE WAY......
It's like this: Christian, Jag, Edwin and Bruce were what I Mother Earth was meant to be. Brian was a fantastic substitute for Edwin when he fagged out and tried to run a solo career. But both are fantastic singers and performers.
Bruce wasn't taking a break; if you listen there's low twangs from Bruce's bass accompanying Jag's bridge. But yeah, my mistake; it is Jag. His quick bluesy playing over Bruce's bassline fooled me into thinking it was all slap-bass when it was a combination
EDWIN ALL THE WAY!!! They were never the same after that. And I find that Brian just sounds like to many other guys out there right now. I will always be loyal to Edwin!
I saw them in Boston after Scenery & Fish and in Cologne after Blue Green Orange. For me Bryan is the better singer. I love scenery and fish and Edwin is ok, but he always sounds like a little boy while Bryan rocks!
I agree, IME was the best with Edwin, Bryan is a good singer too, but Edwin really made the foundation for a band. I'd kill to see a reunion with either singer though, best talent in Canada and they called it quits so soon, what a shame...
Most underrated band of all time. I Mother Earth is amazing with Edwin and with Bryan. All 4 albums are masterpieces. They'd probably still be making music if it wasn't for their label. I hope they get back together soon. In the meantime check out Bryan Byrne's solo project "Tuesdays, Thursdays and if it rains". Get back together guys...mankind needs your music. I can't be more dramatic than that.
Fuck I miss these guys.

What is this song about?
Don't get me wrong, it's a good tune, but I can't figure it out.
it has a James Bond movie theme song feel to it.

Agreed :) One obvious exception may be the Gallagher brothers :), However I might add the Robinson's (Black Crowes) as a good one :)

Are you retarded? It's Jag! It's guitar not bass. Bruce is out having a coffee or water or some shit when this happens.
Daniel fucking rocks the percussion though.
