There is a slow burning going on with Chinese Democracy. I instantly loved it, i got it, i understood it and ive played it pretty much non stop for the past three years. I think Axl is slowly getting the credit he deserves from this record. It's intelligent and its an important record.

This review is very meaningful, Guns n' Roses need to be discussed based on their impact, the nostolgia of their fans and the absurd amount of time the album took to release; each one of those contributes to the listening experience. If every album was taken at face value then music wouldn't have an identity, it would just be instruments and sounds.

A very wonderful and severely under rated album. It is in fact a masterpiece. Its given me so much inspiration in more than just music. People need to just shut the fuck up and actually listen to the music and enjoy it for what it is. Of course its not gonna sound like the old band. Axl formed a brand new kick ass band that still rocks more than almost all of the newer bands out there.

I think this video is only good for comedic value. The people on this video haven't got a clue what they are talking about. I personally thought the album was a mess but these guys say it works and give such comical explanations why it does.

I disagree. I think "This I Love" is going to be huge overtime. Also think "Better" is very catchy. Remember, Appetite took about a year 1/2 to catch on. I think the same will go for this album. Not to the extent of Appetite obviously, but it will catch on. I believe it is now around 4 million records sold worldwide.

Well the truth is it's a coherent, well written, meticulously produced album.Unfortunately the individual songs just aren't memorable and it's hard to find anything that could stand shoulder to shoulder with for eg. Jungle. At times the album takes you to peaks of sonic guitar solos and Axl's unique screams which are impressive and enjoyable, but equally the reliance on some frankly annoying and even slightly dated industrial sound and over-effects laden vocals bring you back down. ****
Axl rose doesnt cling to the idea of axl rose, axl rose is axl rose guns is all he has so he tries to make it better and better he needs perfection but nothing will be good enough. And he doesnt realise what affect he has on the fans you can tell him to stop and when to put out an album but he wont listen because he doesnt care he needs it to be right he needs to carry on or else there is nothing left for him.
I think the overproduced issue is just plain old axl and his need for perfection, and yet still he is not happy he's become a recluse again and there is no sign of movement on the front with rumours spreading etc. He needs to either tour, release the chinese democracy sister album or release some videos soon or else he's gonna wind up back at the drawing board. How do you get at saying gnr are a commercial band when axl rose has released this album on HIS own agenda. Geffen were pushin him to get chinese democracy out so they could make some dosh but he told them no and still it has sold very well but not as well as geffen had wanted it to but axl always knew this and never gave a shit. One of the most rockin things about axl rose is he doesnt care about what anyone else thinks and never will hense the hype. They dont release an album a week.
IMO great album but criminally underrated/ignored. Just listened to it all the way through again on a flight home and it's still very interesting and listenable.
I've given Chinese democracy more than a few spins now. I can safely say that IMO about 80 percent of the album sucks. there's a few classics (the title track, prostitute, this i love and sorry) but the rest is exactly what i wished the album wouldn't sound like, some cheap semi techno half rap mix with a few heavy parts.
Chinese Democracy is a pretty good album, but it's not worth the wait. Appetite would definitely be worth it (my mind would blow). There's 2 completely forgetable songs (Scraped, Catcher in the Rye), 2 kinda good songs (Street of Dreams, There Was a Time) 5 pretty good songs (Street of Dreams, If the World, Sorry, This I Love, Prostitute), and 5 'classic' songs (Chinese Democracy, Shackler's Revenge, Better, IRS, Madagascar). I don't get why this couldn't be out by 2000 tho. I guess no one does.
chinese democracy is so intresting. the lyrics the guitar solos everything, the stories behind each song. whether u hate axl or love axl its very intresting. and i suggest everyone should buy the album. and accept it as music not as axl trying to renew guns n roses or anything.

I disagree. I think "This I Love" is going to be huge overtime. Also think "Better" is very catchy. Remember, Appetite took about a year 1/2 to catch on. I think the same will go for this album. Not to the extent of Appetite obviously, but it will catch on. I believe it is now around 4 million records sold worldwide.

these reviews are such bullshit. its as if all their reviews are based on their opinion of axl and what he was thinking like they know so well. i listend to this album with that same attitude but fortunately its an album that grows on you more as it unfolds after each listen. i think its a masterpeice and im guessing these closed minded attitudes are why it hasnt done as good as it should have.fuck what axls been doing for the past ten years, let the music do the talking

Bring back Parsons, Pearson and Paulin. This is the most appalling thing I've seen (just now) on what used to be Late Review. Utter spoofology from required ethnic person imagining she's walking 'round the Globe, trotting out a few mashed up facts from Rolling Stone (maybe). Cut to second rate half arses commenting - Kirsty knew more than anyone. Anyway, after that bit of a rant (nothing to do with whether they liked it or not) it's a great album, for all the reasons already posted.

Well the truth is it's a coherent, well written, meticulously produced album.Unfortunately the individual songs just aren't memorable and it's hard to find anything that could stand shoulder to shoulder with for eg. Jungle. At times the album takes you to peaks of sonic guitar solos and Axl's unique screams which are impressive and enjoyable, but equally the reliance on some frankly annoying and even slightly dated industrial sound and over-effects laden vocals bring you back down. ****

I think the overproduced issue is just plain old axl and his need for perfection, and yet still he is not happy he's become a recluse again and there is no sign of movement on the front with rumours spreading etc. He needs to either tour, release the chinese democracy sister album or release some videos soon or else he's gonna wind up back at the drawing board. Personally its the best thing i ever heard i dont care what anyone elses opinions are they have a huge fanbase and im proud to be one.

How do you get at saying gnr are a commercial band when axl rose has released this album on HIS own agenda. Geffen were pushin him to get chinese democracy out so they could make some dosh but he told them no and still it has sold very well but not as well as geffen had wanted it to but axl always knew this and never gave a shit. One of the most rockin things about axl rose is he doesnt care about what anyone else thinks and never will hense the hype. They dont release an album a week.

I've given Chinese democracy more than a few spins now. I can safely say that IMO about 80 percent of the album sucks. there's a few classics (the title track, prostitute, this i love and sorry) but the rest is exactly what i wished the album wouldn't sound like, some cheap semi techno half rap mix with a few heavy parts.

Chinese Democracy is a pretty good album, but it's not worth the wait. Appetite would definitely be worth it (my mind would blow). There's 2 completely forgetable songs (Scraped, Catcher in the Rye), 2 kinda good songs (Street of Dreams, There Was a Time) 5 pretty good songs (Street of Dreams, If the World, Sorry, This I Love, Prostitute), and 5 'classic' songs (Chinese Democracy, Shackler's Revenge, Better, IRS, Madagascar). I don't get why this couldn't be out by 2000 tho. I guess no one does.

When Guns n Roses played concert in Warsaw in 2006 there were place for about 25 000 people.. Guess how many people were on this concert ?! About 5000 !!! Strange dont ya think so?

this is a really accomplished album. the guitar playing is of the highest quality. most of the lyrics are well-written and axl sings magnificently for the most part.
yes, it is over-produced but you have to give it a few listens and then everything hangs together remarkably well. its not that he's identifying with holden caulfiefd and being an adolescent- its just that he knows something about madness and being on the edge.

This review is shocking and shows a complete lack of anything hinting at honest journalism. Not surprising that News Night completely missed the point on this one: Trying to portrait this album as anything more than a collection of badly written songs, crazy!
Way too much sentimentality, searching for hidden meanings, assuming that there was substantial intelectual thought that went into making it...A bad review.
