It's like Lucy and Charlie Brown - every time Lieberman pulls the football away and every time the Democrats say, okay next time we won't trust him...
bayh is right. leave him with his toy committee. this will count as the ultimate reaching across the isle. he's made himself a republican liability afterall
Simply put, Joe LIEberman only thinks of himself. He needs to leave the Democratic party. He proved he was a rethuglican during this last presidential campaign. He should be ashamed for the things he said & done but his arrogance supercedes any shame he could possibly possess. No matter what happens, I hope Conn. gets rid of him in 2012 & it won't be too soon! Then, he can go be a lobbyist that can destroy this country even more, make lots of money, just like all good rethuglicans do!
Yes Sen. Bayh, this is about maximizing our chances of making the changes we need in America. The most important one being, Joe Lieberman as FORMER Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee.
The argument Bayh makes on Joe's behalf is totally non-sensical. It requires that you forget everything Joe has done for the past 10years that has hurt Democrats--not just the things he's done recently.
Sen. Bayh and his friend Joe Lieberman are very good examples of what is wrong with our government. Notice that Sen. Bayh didn't answer Rachel's question. Why is Joe Lieberman the best choice for Chairman? He's not. He's the worst.
If the Dems cow-tow to Lieberman they are again demonstrating they have no intention of making any positive changes whatsoever. It's just corrupt business as usual. Bayh says they'll remove Joe if he betrays them again? The time to remove him is now.
Sen. Bayh is a very intelligent man, and I really respect his thoughtful opinion here. If the Dems decide to strip Sen. Lieberman of his committee chair then I think they are perfectly justified in doing so. But much of what Sen. Bayh said makes a lot of sense, if they keep him on for now it is much more advantageous for them and they will still have the option of removing him later if they so choose.
No, according to an article in Huffington Post yesterday, Bayh was being misleading. It would be very difficult to remove Lieberman from the chairmanship if that isn't done next Tuesday. The Senators must vote to rescind Lieberman's chairmanship on Tuesday. Please contact your own Senator and ask them to do the right thing.
Interesting, I must have missed that article because I'm a regular HuffPo visitor. If that is the case then I think Lieberman should go because I'd rather them get rid of him now and deal with the consequences than have to deal with his antics later and not be able to strip him. In terms of PR it may not look good but it would be worth it imo because we all know Lieberman puts country first, and that country is Israel.

Lieberman has used his chairmanship to investigate nothing, and that is aiding war criminals.
Joe helped Bush, and covered up for Bush's mistakes.
Joe is already embittered that he lost his primary to Ned Lamont. He is and will continue to act out of revenge.
Joe puts Israel first, and America 2nd.
Joe is a religious zealot who believes that his messiah is coming.
Joe is a liar, and traitor. Selfish, shallow, stubborn, petty, vindictive, and arrogant.
I could go on and on and on...
