  • love vid

  • looks like a bird shitted up his spine and mated with a piece of plankton 0:45

  • I loved that final quote about seeing the fast food, the supermarket and the field and whether or not we SEE it as a POSSIBILITY. I'd love to go out in a field to forage for my dinner.

  • Has anyone got news about Food Not Bombs from Florida? Their website has been down all month.

    That is one long table!

  • Awesome video, totally different ways of living and experiences every week. Subscribing to you is awesome.

  • Ambivalent feelings concerning 'wild'. Sustainability means responsible use n management of natural resources in a way that the whole system survives. It does not mean that we should trample around in the wilderness n plug n catch all eatables for a new gourmet experience. If such dishes become trendy, either we buy nettles from gardeners, or any scientists will explain us in some years why it would have been so important for coasts n climate to keep the wild plants there where they were ... ;-)

  • @bangalorebobbel yes. its just a question of how many people like to eat anything whether a new agricultural market starts. That's why I told I have ambivalent feelings - on the one side it is damned cool to learn survivalist's secrets about wild plants n how they can be used in kitchen, on the other side I feel wild plants or animals landing in a restaurant are anyhow wrong placed ... restaurant means always lot of people n lot of resources needed ... ;-)

  • @ganzeliesl Good point. I asked Iso about this and his reply was that it's a concern and to not forage for endangered plants. "Only take things that are super abundant, but in my experience many, many plants in the area are abundant and edible." I do think some things are over foraged and it's probably a tough call to say what is over abundant. Though maybe if we thought about what is edible a bit more some people would stop spraying weed killer on their nettles and dandelions.

  • @kirstendirksen yes, hopefully people may get a better view on environment. About weed killer: that's one side. Other side may be: if You step in the forests collecting there any plants, You never know what is inside. There is no control, as in cultivated and marketed food. There can be weed killers from the nearby fields inside as well as any poisons from far off (as is it still the case in Europe after Tchernobyl - if You go and eat wild mushrooms You may get the radiation for free).

  • @bangalorebobbel agreed, but wild boar is maybe even more wild than the mushrooms ... ;-)

of course there is always any risk - even if You plant Your own food in Your own garden, and don't use pestizides or artificial menure or what, You never know what is finally inside - from air pollution and radiation, from Your personally harvested rain water, from poisons in Your garden's soil etc. And You never go to any laboratory and test Your home grown vegetables ... but You feel secure and healthy.

  • Perhaps eating like this can help keep people accountable to taking care of their environment too.
