Thanks for posting this, the worst hurricane in recorded history. So sad. Here, as with Carla and Alicia and Ike, people helped each other and got on with their lives. Galveston is still hurting from Ike, but no one's complaining.
I read a testimony from Isak Kline, who was relaying information from the Galveston weather bureau to the national weather authorities on the mainland via telegraph just hours before the storm hit. This storm is featured in a segment that aired on a PBS special in 1999 called "America 1900". Isak Kline saved himself and his infant daughter after his wife drowned, the storm surge engulfed his two story home, and it was then lifted off by a section of trolley track tossed loose by the surge!
oh yeah the cold water... its a damn hurricane! its there because the water is warm! and dont try to feed me some bull about how it makes the water colder... ive surfed before and after hurricanes.
@bmxbroseph it probably felt cold to HIM personally cuz he was scared or losing conciousness. Im not certain if that can happen but fear probably played tricks on his mind and body.
My Great Granparents Survived The 1900 Storm, My grandparents Survived Huricane Carla, My Parents Survived Huricane Alicia And I Survived Huricane Ike
its weird reading the book cuz i live near galveston and i can picture where everything is. ive been in some buildings that survived it. they have a marker saying it
I can't help but think that maybe more children might have survived if the nuns didn't tie them together like that. I realize they thought they were doing what was best but I still can't help but wonder.
i feel sorry for the people who died in the storm during 1900 i mean its all isaac cline fault if he had warned them about the hurricane then they would have been saved
God was musta been changing a lawn mower blade that day and Jesus was
grocery shopping.. wow.. Nuns and orphans probably the most selfless and helpless group of humans

Did you see how it was nothing but toothpicks for miles? 8000-12000 dead (that is the low, not 6000).

The children were so cute and precious. I wish I could of gone back in time to help. I'm sure God has a reason for everything.
