  • my goose bumps have goose bumps:)

  • A true classic.

I believe Ricky Kennedy sang with a Students group put together in the early '70s for a Gus Gossert show. Marv Goldberg identified him as a lead singer. I don't know if he sang lead on this song for that show.

  • anyone who doesn't like this song, does not know what really good music is and was. brings back sooo many memories

  • wow!!! what a voice!!! made in heaven. hits you deep into your soul. don't want to ever stop

  • Just another great song to cruise low n slow

  • 5 people are too young

  • Yes. This is version I have. Took me forever to track this down.

The cover the Beach Boys did is good, but I knew knew knew that what I had wasn't them. Thanks for posting this. I was bugging me not to know.

  • Yes...one of the all time great beginning..

  • love the beginning of this CLASSIC. Kid Kyle does a great job singing this one.

  • i think it sucks i hope the flip side is better

  • @grg1068

If You Thinks This Sucks Don't Even Waste Your Time On The Other Side . It;s Equally As GREAT ! So Sorry Your Musical Taste Buds Have Passed Away !

  • AMAZING SONG ~

  • Love thiis song, and the group really is fabulous.

Many thanks. They certainly don't make them like they used to.

  • I just saw cry baby for the first time and had to tag this song sounds great

  • CryBaby &;hearts

  • SuperDarkman..leroy king was the only lead of the students he passed away on christmas eve 1998..verify by searching (leroy king the students) reas Gus Gossert's colum about the entire journey of the students..so sorry man your pops may b a great guy but he was not leroy king..so please don.t e-mail me anymore with this story..god bless u man..:0)

  • I was amazed when I found out that my dad was the lead singer for "The Students." He still can sing and has the old vinyl of this song and more. Wow, to think that they could've been as big as some of the others Temptations, Chi-Lites, and so on brings smile to my face. What a great man my pops is!

  • Out of sight!

  • Wonderfull Memories From Those Great Days of Years Gone By. Thank You God !

  • love this tune...

  • im 28 and an old soul...this song makes me cry...

  • @patriciacarrasco I'm 30 and feel the same way! A classic time <3

  • @patriciacarrasco "pretty soon now....I'll go to sea.....Then my baby...will have seen the last of me" Shit does he have a bullet with his name on it? Or is she gonna leave him and fuck someone else?

  • true, but that was 1964 and was done to highlight a possible "solo" career for Ronnie Spector (veronica) and was done under the name "Veronica" and not the Ronettes eventhough the other two ronettes sang background. it was pulled quickly....guess a reply song 6 years later is a little "late" in my book. The Starlets response was done in 1960. While the original Student's song was done in 1958, it wasn't "discovered" immediately so the Starlet's version is truly a "reply"...just my perspective

  • I like the Beachboys version more...

  • I hung out and sang with these guys. I love this rendition (original), Flip side "Seven Days a Week" is good too.

    Thanks for posting

  • Fabulous song.........

  • Sounds like Frankie Lymann..

  • ONE OF MY FAVORITES,

  • Wow! Until now, I thought this was Frankie Lymon singing. Gr8 song + Gr8 voice!

  • I learned this song in sign language and sang it and signed it in a sign language class once. Everyone else was signing, like, "Are you sleeping" or " The little red hen" or whatever. My teacher said I was the first person she ever had actually sing something. It was easy to learn, too.

  • This Is One of The Greats. I still possess the original in my collection from junior high school, JHS #6, South Brooklyn, NY (Gowanus).

    TheDoowop43

  • The lead singer on this song & 'Everyday Of The Week' was Leroy King, not Bobby Jarrell. Type 'Leroy King Students' in Google for easy verification. Do the research before you post comments. Leroy passed away in 1998. RIP Mr. King. Your voice has immortalized you!
