The pedal work is good, but the sound is less than ideal. He should have stuck to the end format, in which he uses the pedals as accompaniment, and plays the main melody on the manual.
No disrespect to this organist who is truly sensational, but I have heard this arrangement of "flight of the Bumble Bee" arranged for the pedals once before played by Hector Oliveros, and his rendition was awesome by comparison. He is the one organist whose feet seem to have wings!
Fantastic footwork. An inspiration to anyone who wants to see how to do great pedal work.
By the way, for the cynics or critics, until you have heard one live, or better yet played a theatre organ (Wurlitzer, Compton, Christie et al) it is difficult to understand and appreciate the sound and the feeling of being in the building that the instrument is installed in. A rumbling 32 foot bottom C on the pedals is a force to be felt!
Do y'all have any idea how few people in the world have the ability to play the theater organ? Much less play such a complicated piece with your FEET!
"real" organs? Well...a theatre organ is kind of a " beast" all its own...originally intended to accompany silent movies, as a replacement to the theatre's symphony orchestra. So, to compare them to a classical organ is a little unfair, it's a creation all its own :)
this is really bad. fake organ and bad performance. carol williams is much better

NO offence But i think Theater organs sound Weird They don't sound like real organs. have you heard about the wurlitzer in blackpool tower ballroom.
oakberry61woohalol 4 years ago
A Wurlitzer is a Theater Pipe Organ. Pipe Organs came before the electronic.
